Sunflower Fields

Tecumseh Land And Trust
Rt. 68
Yellow Springs, Ohio
Oct 1, 2013

Remember when I went to visit the sun flower farm during the
summer and I had missed it?  They had already harvested the seeds
and done a second planting.  Well, I drove by yesterday and this is
what I saw!  It was worth the wait!

You can't look at sunflowers and not feel happy.
Look there...I see you smiling! :)

S'mores

The boys don't like them, so The Mister and I had our own
little s'more party!  I did the traditional and he did
extra dark chocolate with caramel and sea salt.

Drawing Again

I put this on my Summer Fun To Do List but certainly
procrastinated, leaving it until one of the very last things!
But here it is...a little nest with autumn leaves drawn
on a page from an old dictionary.
Drawing was a fun, creative outlet for me for several
years and then turned into something not so fun.
I'm glad to have given myself a little push
and actually enjoyed doing this!

Farmer's Market

Crossed another thing off my Summer Fun To Do List
yesterday when I stopped at a farmer's market while I was out running errands!
I think I was the first customer of the day!  No crowds to deal with, that's for sure.
Looking at all the home-grown fruits and veggies was fun.
I eventually chose a 10 lb. Amish-grown cantaloupe to take home with me!

Fireworks

We went to see fireworks Sunday night down in the
center of our little village!  We took blankets, snacks and met up
with Lauren, Taylor and Lauren's parents who were here for the
holiday weekend!  It was a beautiful night!

Harry loves fireworks!
He takes his watching very seriously, too! ha.

And there's another thing crossed off my Summer Fun To Do List!

Feeding The Ducks

She has a Summer Fun To Do List and she wanted to take some
bread to the pond and feed us.  So she picked a nice day and
set out with her camera and a loaf of bread.
The pond in Xenia, Ohio is pretty, surrounded by a park with
a nice band stand on the water, fountains, and lots of benches.
She even saw that nice young man....Jill's oldest...and had a nice chat.

Most of us ducks were napping when she arrived.

She made herself comfortable on a park bench and took photos
of a few of us and the views around her.

But everything changed when she started rustling that
bread bag!  Dozens of us ran to surrounded her and quacked with
delight that she had brought us a treat!

 We're friendly enough,
but we can be demanding and a few of us nibbled on her
knees when she wasn't serving crumbs fast enough!
We would eat out of her hand, too!

We can be a little flirty, too!  And we love to show off for the camera!

When she ran out of bread and had to go, we waddled off for
a swim....happy to have had some attention and lunch!

We all had a little smirk on our face as we said goodbye!
And here's why!  That evening she told The Mister about
stopping to feed the ducks and he told her that there were
signs posted all around that prohibited feeding the ducks!
She hadn't seen a single one!

And the winner of the pedi party giveaway is Martha!
Martha, I already have your mailing address!
Be on the look out for a package in the mail!

The Sunflower Farm

This week last year I visited the local sun flower farm for the first time.
It was so much fun, I put it on my Summer Fun List for this year!

But when I got there on Tuesday, all I found was this!

Acres of little sprouts!

I wonder if they already harvested them and put in
a second crop?  Whatever they did, I didn't see any flowers. ha.

But I'm still crossing it off my list!  I mean, hey...
I DID go to the sunflower farm!  It was the sun flowers
that didn't show up!

Six days til the pedi party!

There's a giveaway!

And, it was my lunch today! ha.
Enjoyed just up the road from me at Young's Jersey Dairy.

Sunday Afternoon Drive

Another thing crossed off my Summer Fun To Do List!
A Sunday Afternoon drive.
If you want to know what southwestern Ohio looks like in the
summertime, here you go...

The views are typical for Ohio, but the temperatures certainly are not!
We're dipping into the 50's at night an reaching 70 during the day.
 No humidity.  Incredible.
We've started our third week of this and it is wonderful!
Makes for a perfect leisurely drive!

Fabulous Flip Flops

I had put on my Summer To Do List that I wanted to
add some bling to a pair of flip flops!
Well, this afternoon, I dug through my ribbon stash
and my vintage jewelry stash and grabbed my hot
glue gun.  It took 5 minutes to attach this pretty
ribbon and coordinating old clip on earrings!
My brown flip flops never looked so pretty!

And Jack enthusiastically approved!

One more fun thing crossed off my list!

Golden Kiss Melon

One of the things on my Summer Fun To Do List was to try a
new kind of fruit!  So last week I picked up a Golden Kiss Melon
at Sam's Club.  The sticker said it was from the Sandstone Melon Co.

It was super sweet, firm and delicious!

It has a really intense melon taste that leaves the regular old
common cantaloupe seeming kind of blah! ha.
Not only did I find another favorite fruit, I get to cross another
fun thing off my list!  If you find any Golden Kiss Melons,
I highly recommend them!

Last year I tried a Honey Kiss, and they were really good, too!

Have you painted your toe nails yet?
Pedi party is in 6 days!
