Around Here, Lately

1. Captain Socks.
2. My new friend, Mr. Toad.  Marmalade was posing with him outside on the back porch and I thought it was a huge, dead mouse.  But it was this large toad, totally unharmed!  I moved him to the window well on the other side of the house where toads have lived for 27 years.  I checked on him the next day and he was still there!
3. Star and I watched a marathon of one of my favorite shows, Fixer Upper.
4. To celebrate summer...glittery polish and I spent a little creative time in the studio and made an anklet...blue polished stones and a sterling silver clasp.
5. A vintage piggy cutting board I brought home from the auction today.  Nobody wanted him, so I bid $1.  I'm going to sand him down and rub him with oil.  A greased pig...haha....
6. I purged my cookbooks down to the bare minimum but had to keep the set A Country Garden Cookbook....mainly for the awesome photography.  They are pretty enough to display.  I think I have 12 volumes of it.  This one makes me want to bake a lemon meringue pie!
7. Harry and the other guys have been enjoying quite a few Scooby Doo DVD's....still.  Nothing like waking up to villains like The Snow Ghost wailing down the hallway. ha. I think they have a crush on Daphne. 
8. A peak at the new front walk.  The sealant was applied yesterday!

Sunshine After The Rain

While it was pouring rain last week, the cats spent most of their

time on the back porch watching rain drops and napping.

When that got boring, they amused themselves inside, playing

 relay races, leap frog or a combination of both!

When the 'moat' started to subside, it was time to go exploring.

This morning I could see that the spiders had been busy rebuilding...

And the hostas were putting out some blooms!

The Weekend

5. Peach, who continues to hang around but is too smart to be tricked into a carrier....so far.....I'm not giving up!

11. Boneless, skinless and basted with a combo of peach preserves and pepper jelly. (8 oz, 2 oz)  Bake 30 minutes at 375.  Yum.

Monday

1. White tea with lemon.
2. Cantaloupe prep for dinner.
3. Peaches literally lived on our back porch all weekend but hasn't been seen today.  I think he knows the vet's hours!
4. Mr and Mrs House Finch came for lunch.
5. Laundry....and more laundry.
6. Socks....not the laundry kind, although he wears long white ones on his back legs!
7. Mr. Bird.  If I whistle, he sings back!
8. Two lumps, please.
9. Almonds, happy in a thrift store container.

1. Indoor showers.
2. Mrs. Dove.
3. Socks.
4. What was left of the peanut butter when Spencer got a hold of it.
5. Slate, for Lynne. ...wishing you a happy birthday!
6. When the rain started, Garden Girl looked like she'd gone brunette!

This And That

1. The Mister gave me a macro lens for my camera for Valentine's Day.  Here's a closeup of my primrose!
2. Big Red and Little Red.
3. A clean-out-the-fridge meal.  A little left over steak sauteed with on-their-last-leg red and yellow peppers.  Add some garlic, onion and soy sauce and spoon over steamed rice.  Yum.

7. A little February red on the foyer table.

9. Spencer working through lunch today.  ha. Think of him tomorrow morning, won't you?  He has to go under general anesthesia to get his teeth cleaned.  He was too stubborn to let the dentist do it like a normal person, even after his brothers did it!  No cavities....just a cleaning. But still...what an ordeal!  So we're off to the hospital at 8:15 AM.  The Mister was going with me, but we're pretty sure the boys will have a snow day again so he will have to stay home with the other two. It's not supposed to be a big deal, but what mom isn't a little concerned when their child is put 'out' for anything! We had to have a physical from the doctor, fill out a ton of forms, and go over all the general  "No food or water after midnight and has he been out of the country in the last 90 days" kind of stuff.  You see why I grind my teeth?  lol...
