This week last year I visited the local sun flower farm for the first time.
It was so much fun, I put it on my Summer Fun List for this year!
But when I got there on Tuesday, all I found was this!
Acres of little sprouts!
I wonder if they already harvested them and put in
a second crop? Whatever they did, I didn't see any flowers. ha.
But I'm still crossing it off my list! I mean, hey...
I DID go to the sunflower farm! It was the sun flowers
that didn't show up!
♥
Six days til the pedi party!

Just hermit you
And broken me at my zoo lol

Deletejust me..and you across the lake.

ReplyDeleteCrossing it of at your bay
Only half done
Got there, but never saw the sun
My list only says to visit one
Deletenot see the flowers or I'm not done!
lol...
Maybe the new sprouts will grow
and off my Fall List it will go!
Aww...sorry you missed the flowers. Your top photo is so happy with all the sunflowers. Maybe they only plant them every other year for the soil quality. We might have to look up sunflower growing processes. I know the field next to us plants corn one year and then soybeans the next. I'm guessing they alternate for the soil??? But you did visit and that counts : )
ReplyDeleteI don't know! I'll have to do some investigating!
Deleteoh dear sorry you miss the flowers! I love sunflowrs We use sunflowrs oil a lot!!
ReplyDeleteanyway you visited:)
They are sprouting now...maybe I can see them in the fall? I'll put it on my list again! ha.
Deletemaybe you can make a Fall list, I think is lovely!
DeleteI say...you went, you saw, you did. Checked off the list. Yeah!
ReplyDeleteNext, bring out the colored pencils!
Oh, I know! I'm procrastinating on that one!
DeleteMaybe it has been too wet fir sunflowers?
ReplyDeleteAnd I've already done my pedi (red) and taken a picture too
Oooh,..red...I'm sure they look gorgeous! Yay! I'm so glad you're joining in!
DeleteYou know, I thought about the rain...we sure had a lot of it! It's rained several days each week all spring and summer!
I just got my "fake" ones out of the garage to begin getting my fall things in order. I do love the real ones. They are just now showing up at Trader Joes.
ReplyDeleteI read your comment twice and both times I read 'garbage' instead of garage. lol....I thought you couldn't decide if the fake sunflowers were hitting the curb or staying. hahaha...
DeleteI just typed a long response, and lost it...bummer! I was saying you made me laugh so hard. Betsy, if I found good sunflowers in the gutter...I'd grab them. I've been so bummed on blogging lately and can't figure out why. Just when I think I'll throw in the towel, something funny for interesting comes along, and I all excited to post. Do you ever feel like that...or is it just me! When I'm bummed, you are always a source of encouragement. Love ya.
DeleteWell, since I am a 'trash picker' of sorts, I believed the trick my eyes were playing! hahaha!!!
DeleteYou know, it's facebook that makes me feel like that. lol....I only started it as a favor to Taylor. He's in social media as a job and needed me to 'like' his posts for the businesses he has contracts with. Most of the time I can't get excited about the rest of it. But the best thing about blogs is that you can just do it when you feel like it. I do love your blog, though and you, too! :)
Betsy - they did plant them early this year (my husband got a couple of pictures in May or June - can't remember) & then they plowed them up & planted again. I'll let you know when they're pretty again - school has started so Mike will be making the trek from Xenia to Urbana five days a week now...
ReplyDeleteOh, thanks, Bug! That was my first guess as to what happened. Lots of things were early this season! It will be fun to see them in the fall, too! I rarely drive out that way...unless I'm going to Youngs...which is what I did when there weren't any sunflowers to see...and had a banana split for lunch. ha.
DeleteHe works in Urbana? That's such a pretty little old town!
wow...and how great for them to get in a double harvest this year!
DeleteI was looking at Facebook and seeing double. First I thought you posted about sunflowers, then I realized it was another friend, and all of the sudden it was you again...
ReplyDeleteTurns out there's a 35 acre sunflower field south of here in Phelps, NY
http://www.phelpsny.com/sunflower-hayrides-are-back/
Well, how fun is that? You must go on a sunflower hayride!
DeleteNow that I know mine were already harvested but a new crop is growing, I'll have to keep watching...maybe they'll bloom before summer is officially over...if not, I'll put it on my fall list!
I've been looking at the times and wondering if I can squeeze it in. Maybe next weekend. Stay tuned.
DeleteHave speed racer drive you. :)
DeleteYeah, and maybe I can get an ice cream and a ball game out of the deal too. :)
Deleteand then some! I seem to recall something about a speedboat... haha...
DeleteAnd it is in the general direction of the Finger Lakes...
DeleteWell, there you go! lol....
DeleteAww - I remember when you went there last year. Hope next year they have a full field!
ReplyDeleteMaybe in a few weeks! They second crop is just sprouting!
Deleteoh no , what a disappointment, but they will grow, and like you said you DID go there, have a great night!
ReplyDeleteyes, they will grow. I'll have to go have another banana split, which is on the same road, and check on the progress. haha.
Deleteawww that is a little sad actually...sorry you missed all the flowers....sunflowers are so bright and beautiful....
ReplyDeleteYeah, but the second crop is on it's way....it might turn into something on my fall list!
DeleteBummer! I think, just for that, you need to visit every week and have a banana split each time! That'll show those sunflowers! :-)
ReplyDeleteI think that's a brilliant idea!
DeleteWell dang. Have a banana and leave the split. ;) Aren't sunflowers just the most beautiful. Just like daisies...they always seem so happy.
ReplyDelete2-years ago hubby and I was coming back from ds' and at the bottom of the mountain was a beautiful sunflower field. A first for me. It could have been there every year but that was the first time i'd gotten to see it. It was a WOW sight.
Happy Weekend! JaG
wow...that sounds beautiful! Last year was the first time I saw this field and it's so close to my home! Although, it's on a state route that isn't among my usual routines. It is amazing to see them all together like that, isn't it? The impact is incredible!
DeleteOh, that was a shock. What a shame. If its a second crop maybe you can see those later.
ReplyDeleteWell, Bug is a reliable source and she says it is a second crop, so I'm counting on it!
DeleteWow, that's almost sad, in a way.
ReplyDeleteI'm still going to see them...just not for a few weeks! And the people that get to see both crops are probably really happy...not to mention the owners getting double crops in one season. I think it's all good! But then, that's me...the optimist, and you...the pessimist at our finest. lol....
DeleteNow, now... Sometimes I'm optimistic, even when you're not! Ha.
DeleteSpeaking of "not showing up", how are the boys adjusting to Taylor being gone?
ReplyDeleteWell, he hasn't actually lived here since the end of April, so they are used to it. But it's not like we never see him. He's probably been here twice a week ever since! They are always happy to see both he and Lauren when they come over. :)
DeleteI always enjoy stopping by your place Betsy....puts a smile on my heart. Dee Dee
ReplyDeletewell, I feel the same way about your place! I always want to leave a comment though! So great to see you here, dear. :)
DeleteOh Betsy - what a shame! when they're out it looks like some wonderful shot of Tuscany!! nevermind you kept your end of the bargin!
ReplyDeleteMary x
This is so cool, really awesome to see that you enjoyed this journey, crazy how quickly things change in agriculture.
