Monday

  1. White tea with lemon.
  2. Cantaloupe prep for dinner.
  3. Peaches literally lived on our back porch all weekend but hasn't been seen today.  I think he knows the vet's hours!
  4. Mr and Mrs House Finch came for lunch.
  5. Laundry....and more laundry.
  6. Socks....not the laundry kind, although he wears long white ones on his back legs!
  7. Mr. Bird.  If I whistle, he sings back!
  8. Two lumps, please.
  9. Almonds, happy in a thrift store container.

    2. Georgina!!! Guess what was just delivered!?? I'm so excited. I opened the box and nothing exploded! Must
have been your superb wrapping! haha. The big kids will be over for dinner tomorrow (Wed) and I'm going to let them
sample everything with us. It will be fun and we'll judge our favorites here with our American palettes and let you know!
Thanks so much...and yes, flavors I've never heard of here!

  2. Busy, productive day. Love all your pictures. I'm doing laundry today which means exercise....down the stairs to the laundry room...back up...35 minutes later...down to put them in the dryer...back up....down again to fold...back up... Yep! that's my exercise for today. HaHa.
I made fresh blackberry pecan scones, but the berries were so ripe, I ended up with purple scones....but they sure tasted good. Almost like berry cobbler. I keep experimenting with scones. Wish could have a cup of tea with you...hugs for a great week.

    1. My goodness...that's a lot of stairs! I would count that as my workout, too!

Your scones sound wonderful! Yum! My mouth is watering!

  3. That Peaches is too smart for his own good. He can't know how much better his life would be if he just allowed you to catch him. My wishing that for my birthday didn't make it happen. Fate just isn't cooperating. Lynne in NC

    1. We (Peaches and I) practiced eating in the carrier all weekend and he just goes straight in without hesitation now! All I need for him to do is show up during the day. I even got a few little pets and scratches behind his ears. I think he has belonged to someone at some time. What a stinker he is not to show up today! I was positive today was the day! He has also started chatting...quite a talker he is! And he gave me a good punch with his paw last night....left a bruise and swollen spot that I had to ice for a few hours! haha...gee whiz....wasn't expecting that!

      It's going to be soon....

    2. That was a "Love Punch". You would soon know if he gave you a "Get out of my way" punch. . . . . . just saying.

    3. I think if he wanted to hurt me he would have had his claws out. But his punch was strong...I was surprised! Half my hand is black and blue!

  4. I want to reach in and hug that little Socks. How adorable is he. The photo of the finch couple is so gorgeous I would have to print that, frame it and have it on view. WOW!

The finches were beautiful today..can't wait for the blossoms to open on that tree....

  5. Any day started with tea, is a good day :)
Beautiful finches, they are sweet little birds, it's a heart-warming sight seeing them together.
Socks is one of the most photogenic cats I have ever seen, and he knows it ...
Sweet Peaches....the fact that you are having physical contact with him, a huge step. Yes, I think he may have been someone's pet at one point.
You have come such a long way, perseverance and you've won his trust.
    You win the prize !

    1. yes, I agree...the true ferals won't let me pet them...Velvet, the mama of two of my litters still won't let me pet her after 3 1/2 years! And I'm not positive, but I think Peaches may already be neutered. Makes you wonder what happened with his owner. I wonder if he was abused or kicked out when he became sick. If he had a home, he would have gone there instead of living outside all winter in our sub zero temps.

He has come a long way.....and he walks right into that carrier! It will be easy to catch him. Now he needs to come during the day!

    2. He used to say, "Hello Mickey Boy!"
Seems strange to see one so like him . . . we used to let him out and he flew round the room and landed on our glasses . . . or on our finger if we held it out for him to land on . . :)

  9. Socks looks very intelligent. I think if he was human he would be a University graduate, probably with a Honours Degree is Catching Mices and Annoying Birdies! And he would be so upper class that he wouldn't even speak to the likes of common people like us! Ha!

Socks could be my sons cat, Buddy's....twin!
He also wears his tuxedo very well....

  12. Bo Cat knew whenever we planned to take her to the vet. I took Oreo and Little Cat in years ago but gave up on catching her. When she was old and sick I opted not to traumatize her further by dragging her off tot he vet. She died naturally and, you know, there was something much easier about letting her go than the times we had our pets put down. I still cried, but there wasn't any guilt involved.
You'll get the little guy yet and one day he'll be stretched out watching you do your work.
    :0)
PS. Pass me a couple almonds.

    1. Well, I hope Peaches doesn't have to be put down, but that's still a possibility if he has feline leukemia or something fatal and not treatable. They did warn me of that. :(

  21. Looks like a mellow Monday.....and I mean that in a calming, peaceful way. I love days like that. I could use a little of your tea right now....this cough is lingering still. Hopefully, I'll be feeling a little more energetic shortly....I have some gardening to do. I had 3 finches perched on the fire pit this weekend and when I got up to run for the camera, I scared them off. Gah! No pictures and no finches. Maybe next time. Yours are pretty and I love the feeder. Hope you have a great week. Talk soon.
