Random Thoughts

me, today.

  1. I drove up to my brother-in-laws house to see my niece and her family today!  We sneaked off to a lovely little French cafe for some amazing lunch and girl talk.  Got to see those little babies, too! Time went too quickly!  Zuzu definitely remembers me even at her young 17 months which thrills me.  And Iaia is such a happy, sweet, beautiful thing.  Wow.
  2. Last night The Mister was at a reception and a drunk driver plowed into his car, which was parked on the street.  Fortunately he wasn't in it at the time!  He thinks it's totalled with a broken axle, but we'll find out soon.  Holding our breath that the lady has car insurance. Thankful he's ok and thankful she only got 2 blocks away before her car stopped running so she got caught!
  3. Looks like a lovely three day weekend coming up!  Sunshine and temps in the low 60's!  I had a window open here this afternoon. Even I might get spring fever if this keeps up!  But it's February people!  We can have snow into April, so this is just a tease...a cruel tease. ha.
  4. Have you ever noticed that the bad thing about brilliant sunshine is how it highlights all the dust in your home?  I'm sitting here looking at the furniture and can't believe the fuzzy layer that has formed in just a week!
  5. Yes, I still have Moonshadow in my head! hahaha.  I got up in the night for a quick bathroom trip and it was there!  I almost laughed out loud.  And first thing this morning I sat up to have a cup of coffee and the tune was strumming along in my head.  Hilarious.
Hope you all have a great weekend!
Any fun plans?
I'm going to repot some houseplants and hopefully
be able to have a window or two open for a few hours!

  1. This is the first day since November that I didn't need the central heating on. It was sunny and mild, made me feel so much better after all the mist and rain we've had recently.

I had a new Storm Porch door fitted today. When the workmen had finished and gone there was a massive water main burst right outside in the road! Water spraying everywhere, I think God was testing my new door! Bright Blessings.

    1. Oh yes! Now the water board people are coming tomorrow to repair the pipe. The water supply has been cut off to the entire street. A water tanker is coming in the morning to keep us supplied until the repairs are completed. The things that happen around here are unbelievable!

    2. Sorry to hear about the Misters car. You have a French Cafe there? I wish we had one here then I can give up cooking and eat there! Is it as good as Jim's Cafe though?

I don't bother about the dust. Let's face it, after 4 years it cant get any worse; can it? Ha!

    3. Oh, it's much better than Jims. haha.

  2. Great photo of you! How fun for you to see the girls today! Times like that are good for the soul.
It's warm here too. I have the patio door open and definitely have spring fever.
Enjoy your weekend and working with your plants. I love repotting plants and getting my hands in the soil. It seems like the plants enjoy the new lease on life. And this weather is perfect for that.

    1. I had to shut the window and get a sweater...haha...it was lovely while it lasted but got chilly!
I like repotting plants, too....they look so much better and happier in their bigger pots! I've done it in the kitchen before if it's too cold, but outside is so much easier!

  3. I'm happy to hear that the Mister wasn't in his car at the time. Gracious me! But, so sorry to hear about this. Glad you had a nice visit with the girls! I had a friend over for lunch today (from Maryland). It was great to catch up.....so far this had been a great weekend.

    1. We haven't had a car in a bad accident since I was in one back in our 'before kids' years. Someone ran a stop sign and pulled out in front of me, going 55 mph...crazy, crazy.
Very fun seeing the girls today...time went way too quickly, though. :) Glad you had a good time with your friend...Maryland? She's a long way from home. Bet she thought your weather was wonderful!

    2. She sure did enjoy the sunshine. Apparently, it's been missing in Maryland. Lol! She and her husband have a condo here at the beach. We met through triathlons....she competes and so does Cliff.

  5. Nice photo of you, today. I can't detect any more wrinkles . . lol
So glad you had a visit with your niece and family and you enjoyed the kiddies.
Bit of a shock about The Mister's car ~ there are too many idiots on the road and I hope the woman is insured, particularly as the car may be a right off (as we say).
It was a lovely day here as well and I managed to get a lot of tree bench work done . . looking forward to ploughing on with it again over the weekend. All the design problems seem to be solved. Will send piccies when finished.
Yes, dust is certainly a problem in this household . . lol
    Moonshadow . . . so funny . . :)

    1. It's been a few years but that bloom and freeze has happened before...yes, very sad when
that happens! Then it kind of feels like you didn't have a spring.... after the freezes again it just jumps right to summer. yuck.

  10. Hi Betsy - glad you were able to get away and have a break ... oh dear - but as you say the Mister is safe - and that's important - frustrating re the challenges of getting the car sorted out. I hope the woman learns her lesson. Yes - I had the windows open yesterday and slept with them open too - but the cold is due to return.

Enjoy Spring coming ... and blow the dust - trouble is ... you give us wonderful photos - and no dust must appear?! Enjoy the weekend ... Moonshadow is now humming away by me ... cheers Hilary

You poor thing and the moon! Does it affect your mood? You need to infuse lots of positive oils in your home around that time!

Warm weather and sun here, too. I have been missing the sun a lot.
January hit records for the least amount of sunshine.
Yum to the French bakery and visiting with the girls. Those are special moments, aren't they?
