What's For Dinner?

Here's what we've been eating at our house lately...

  1. Baked salmon with lemon and thyme roasted brussel sprouts and red skinned potatoes.
  2. Apple pie pancakes.  I just sauteed sliced apples in butter and cinnamon and piled them on top of buttermilk pancakes and syrup.
  3. Pineapple and sriracha chicken thighs on rice.
  4. Spinach salad.
  5. A true 'clean out the fridge' soup made from a little leftover ground beef, rice, sliced mushrooms, onions, garlic and cream.
  6. Grilled Ahi tuna steaks and sauteed veggies.
  7. Grilled extra sharp white cheddar cheese and a bowl of roasted red pepper bisque.  The bisque was sold in a carton at the grocery and it was delish!  Just heat and eat.  We were remembering how we had lots of Campbell's tomato soup and grilled American cheese sandwiches when we were first married and dead broke.  This tasted a little better than that. haha.
Pull up a chair to the table...I'm still serving!

  3. White cheddar cheese is a mystery to us.
Here in the land of cheddar cheese cheddar comes in cheese colour. Not white. However, your dinners do look tasty.

  5. As far as I'm concerned the only Cheddar Cheese is the one that's made Cheddar in the Mother Country and ripened in Goughs Cave for at least 12 months. All other Cheddars are just the poor relations, and most taste like soap. If the packet is marked "West Country Farmhouse Cheddar" that is the pukka gen thing! And as Georgina says, the proper stuff is cheese coloured!

I think No 6 looks the tastiest to me, but why put shredded soap on it?

    2. I thought you would ask "How do you know what soap tastes like?", but that's another story. Ha!

    3. Something tells me that you had your mouth washed out with soap as a child!

  9. I would love to have 1, 3, or 6. I'd really like to have pancakes, too, but I've become a healthy eater and turn down all the greats I grew up on. I remember the grilled cheese days . . . I think I used to eat those 2 or 3 times a week! Not sure if you have McAlister's in Dayton, but they have a wonderful four cheese grilled sandwich that's so yummy!

    1. We're closer to the McAlisters in Beavercreek and have eaten there a few times! I haven't had their grilled cheese, though....it sounds delish!

Pancakes seem to be our Sunday brunch splurge....a little reward for eating healthy all week. Well, we have pizza on Sunday nights...so I guess we're splurging all day on Sunday! haha...

    2. You should try it . . .it's really good. I love them!

I hear ya about the splurging! My go to for that these days has become a frozen yogurt smoothie or a blizzard at Dairy Queen. Dessert can be a wonderful thing. lol

    3. Either of those...the smoothie or the blizzard would be fine by me! Yum! I have such a sweet tooth! I just do better if I don't have the stuff in the house calling my name! haha...
