This And That

  1. Yep, still raining!  But there are up sides to this.  We haven't had to water some new grass with the sprinkler too many times, I haven't had to weed the gardens, and when you want to sleep late on Saturday, mid morning still feels dark as night! ha.
  2. Can't get enough raspberries lately.  I bought two pints last week and didn't share with any of the men!
  3. Making deviled eggs.  Yum.
  4. Changing of the guards at dusk?  Or were we under some kind of threat that required two night time guards on surveillance duty? ha.
  5. Samantha enjoying a rare dry afternoon and soaking up the warmth on the stone patio.
  6. Blueberry smoothies.
  7. If the sky isn't blue, at least the lobelia are!
  8. This little girl was around every corner today!  She's been extra chatty, too.  Four weeks here already!  Still improving every day. She's been slipping into our bed at night and nuzzling into my hair.
  9. Brown sugar cookies.  Recipe here.  Yum.

    2. 14 tablespoons of butter?? Is that right? It seems a tremendous lot.

    3. Yes. It's less than two sticks.

  3. I was admiring that wing of your house with the great window and then I saw the cat. We had a cat once that spent a lot of time on top of our chimney. It bothered people when they would stop by the house. I am glad Star is turning out to be such a nice cat.

  4. Love your 'This and That' posts, always good food, and kitties galore...
My cat Tom-Tilly climbs on the roof, usually chasing a squirrel or a Mockingbird that taunts her relentlessly.
Those raspberries look delicious, as do your cookies...hmmm.
    Any sign of Peaches ?

    1. Does Tilly get up there from a tree? Ours climb the tree, leap onto the roof and then come back the same way or on the other side of the house were a pergola is close to the roof's edge.

No sign of Peaches. I only saw him that one evening after his vet visit.

    2. Yes, up the tree, over to the covered porch roof, and then onto the house roof. I hear her galloping along the tin porch roof, nothing dainty about it....a girl on a mission :)

    3. I can heard cats on our roof, too! Right over my head as I sit at my desk...and the tree they go up is just outside the window so I can see them coming and going. hilarious!

    1. Looks like they were expecting trouble
and had to guard the place double.
I wonder what they do to the trespassers
as I know they think they're losers. haha...

  11. Hot dog! Close-ups! Love them all. I think my favorite is the raspberries. You can see how plump they are. I had to switch from my phone to my computer to be able to see the changing of the guard. LOL! How do they get up there?

    1. I'm loving those raspberries! Trying to choose those over chocolate and right now it's been fairly easy. haha...

The cats climb a tree and leap over to the roof. I know my neighbors think we're crazy over here. lol.

    2. HaHa!! You should dress your cats in doll clothes and let them walk around in the yard. That might send your neighbors over the deep end. LOL!! My daughter used to put doll dresses on her cat and tried to tie flowers to her head like a bonnet, when she was a little girl. Too funny!

  13. I also looooove raspberries and can't get enough. Why do they come in such small containers?
You must feel very protected by your own personal surveillance team... I'm glad they earn their keep!
Star is looking sooooo much better and I am picturing her nuzzling in your hair. Awwww. Need to get the Mister to snap that - ha!

  18. I particularly loved the photos of your cats. Oh how I wish I lived someplace where it was safe for mine to go outside. How joyful it would be to watch them chase a butterfly, touch cool grass with their paws for the first time or sniff a plant they've never seen before. There are coyotes and hawks and owls here just waiting for a preoccupied kitty to slip up and become dinner. When I retire, I will search for a home in another state where they can at least bask in the sunlight sometimes.

    1. Well, thank you! We are fortunate in that we live on a cul-de-sac...not a lot of traffic and nice neighbors. It's fairly safe, although I have had a few cats go missing and don't know what happened to them. We did have a fox in the neighborhood before. My little Star who I just got last month (rescue) is declawed and I'm leery of letting her out but she loves it and I suppose I'll let her eventually when she's totally strong and healthy. Thank you so much for visiting and commenting!
