Laughing! Love his little cocked head - so darn sweet. I don't know how all the furry and feathery beasts survive this cold. And birdies are so tiny. Ah well, I know you are keeping your neighbourhood fed, and that's a good thing!
Wow - what a great capture. Aren't they the sweetest things. I spent a good part of my day feeding birds at our lot in Manotick. They were all so hungry and happy to have the sun on their backs. One little morning dove ate and then rested on a branch for a long time in the sun. So beautiful to see. We had a nice day today, Betsy. Not frigid cold like the last two. It was only -8. haha! We Canadians are rugged.
We were about 10 degrees warmer, too. A heat wave ...lol...At least we had sun, like you mentioned...the birds were soaking it up! And the cats were soaking it up inside, too....every little sunspot on the furniture and floor! ha.
There are two here this week...so happy to see them....they were here for summer and fall! Suet is on my list...still! Need peanut butter I think....spencer has cleaned us out!
Hi Betsy - he's certainly looking at you! Great photo ... I bet you leave them a post-it note ... saying look here ... then you take their mug shot and then deign to feed the feeders ... Wonderful to see - he's so beautiful - handsome I guess would be better .. cheers Hilary
LOL! I JUST said to Evan, "We need to fill the bird feeders today." LOL! Then, I clicked on your blog. Affirmation, baby. ;) Happy feeder filling! blessings ~ tanna
Yup, that is exactly what that bird is asking, Betsy. Filled our feede today and the birds immediately came to eat. One little sparrow sat in the tree beside the feeder and didn't move an inch while the feeder was filled. Too cold to move and wanted to be first at the feeder:)
Lol...yes Betsy, it's feeding time !
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet little Sparrow.
~Jo
Isn't he sweet? I love it when this variety comes around!
DeleteHahaha, good one.
ReplyDeleteThey're cold...and SO hungry! Can't keep the feeders filled!
DeleteNo cooking for you tonight? Lucky you! I have done a bit of spring cleaning around here myself this week!
DeleteDo you get a lot of sun during the winter? We do, it's super nice
Deleteto see, even if it's cold out. Yes, can't let them go hungry.
Yes... we probably have very similar weather being in neighboring states and all.
DeleteDid you get spring ants last week? Good gosh, we saw two. Now none,
Deletewith the colder than life of Mars weather. But still. Ants.
Though what am I saying? I'm spring cleaning. Come spring I want
to be done with the last bit of pile that I don't know what to do with.
Have a great weekend, Betsy.
No ants here....in January? Aren't they supposed to be hibernating or something? Lol.....they must have smelled something good in your kitchen. Ha.
DeleteGood for you on the spring cleaning! I'm just doing a tiny bit each day.....will take me weeks, but that's fine....I'll finish by spring, I think!
Manners! "Come out and fill the feeder, PLEASE",
ReplyDeleteBirds these days! Sigh!
DeleteYeah, I know. Didn't their parents teach them anything?
DeleteApparently not!
DeleteGreat shot Betsy and i am sure if you held out your lovely hand he would come and take some feed from you . . . . . :)
ReplyDeleteProbably! They don't go far when I walk out there...they know who feeds them!

ReplyDeleteIt is amazing that they can survive. Feathers don't seem like they would be as warm as fur. And their little bare legs! Brr.
DeleteI think they are hungry:)))
ReplyDeleteYes, and they look in the window and tell me!
DeleteMy feeder is just about empty and my bird friends will be looking at me like that soon too.
ReplyDeleteHe's a beautiful capture.
:0)
Isn't he sweet? We didn't have any white crowned sparrows over the summer...so nice to see them..there are two of them!

DeleteWhat a beautiful picture! It looks like the little guy was posing for you.
ReplyDeleteHi Susan! It's been a while! Hope you're doing alright.
DeleteIt does look like he's posing! At least I tell myself that he is! I mean, he really was making eye contact. lol.
He is adorable. It almost looks like he has a mask on the way the black line goes right into his eyes. Great detail on the branch.
ReplyDeleteIt really does! A little super hero bird! haha.
Deletemy birds do the same thing - i have feeders right outside my window on the deck - ...and this is a beautiful photo.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is fun watching them up close, isn't it?
Deletehaha leaving the feeder empty at your zoo
ReplyDeleteHow rude of you
Need to fill that stat

DeleteAww, he does look a wee bit chilled! Handsome fella.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they have at least appreciated the sun this week...it had to help with the temps so bitter!
Deleteoh my, the zoo is getting restless
ReplyDeleteyou better get busy filling the food bowls....
ha
They're all bringing their friends home for dinner! haha.
DeleteWhat a pretty little bird, we don't have those here.
ReplyDeleteAren't they sweet? One of my favorites!
DeleteYup, that is exactly what that bird is asking, Betsy. Filled our feede today and the birds immediately came to eat. One little sparrow sat in the tree beside the feeder and didn't move an inch while the feeder was filled. Too cold to move and wanted to be first at the feeder:)
ReplyDeleteYikes..how many times did I have to insert 'feeder' in that comment?? haha
Deletehaha...you crack me up! It is kind of amazing how friendly they can be...they know who fills the feeder. That little one wasn't scared a bit!
DeleteToo cute!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie! It's hard to keep those feeders full between the squirrels and the birds.
ReplyDeleteCute shot of the White Crowned Sparrow!
