They called it sleet.
But it wasn't wet or mixed with drizzle, so I call it hail.
It came down like hail, bouncing off the ground.
The Mister was trying to cut grass and came inside until it stopped.
Yeah, he said it stung! Crazy!
It was a balmy 43F degrees (6C) today with wind.
A big change from 84F (28C) just two days ago!
♥
Yikes! That's crazy.
ReplyDeleteI know! Brr! We have the furnace running! The first of October is a little early!
DeleteOurs went from scorching to freezing in a couple days too. And there has been heavy rain in areas but no hail or sleet. It's 54F now but was much cooler last night. I like the cool!
ReplyDeleteYes, I'd rather it was cool than sweltering. This is the damp cold, though, that makes you want to snuggle under a blanket with some coffee!
DeleteIt did a little of that here too. I'm really not ready for this cold yet. We had to break down and turn on the heat tonight.
ReplyDeleteRight...this really isn't fall weather...I was sun, orange leaves and the windows open! ha.
DeleteTremendous difference in temperature over such a short time.
ReplyDeleteBouncing off the ground !! . . . . very heavy hail indeed.
Hope it warms up for you again soon.
It was raining hard here last night but churped up late morning onwards . . . :)
"churped"? What language is that?
DeleteI was wondering about 'churped', too!
DeleteA typo - should be 'chirped up' meaning it 'bucked up' or improved. . .
DeleteI see. Thanks for that clarification, Uddie. lol....
DeleteThere's some strange people in Gloucestershire. . . . .just saying.
DeleteYou mean Kenysham?
DeleteServes me right for not proof reading my comments . . . lol
DeleteIt's very cold here, but I will not give in and turn on the gas heating this early in the season. Gas prices are too high, and I don't want to run up a big bill before the weather gets really cold on my meagre pension! I sit here with my top coat, hat and scarf on and I'm quite warm.
ReplyDeleteMittens, too? :)
Delete. . . and pink wellies!
DeleteYou stole mine? I've been looking all over for them!
DeleteYes, but they are too big for me!
DeleteHa! would love to see you try walking in those, then! Are you saying I have big feet?
DeleteNo, but you wouldn't sink if you walked on quick sand. . . . . . .g'night.
Deleteouch!
Deletesweet dreams...
Wow, changed on a dime
ReplyDeleteAt least for a time
You can keep the hail
Here it can hit the trail
77 degrees today
Inside anyway lol
I sent the hail on to you,
Deleteby Tuesday it should be ready to view!
Tuesday you say
DeleteI give a curse if it comes to my bay lol
I'm sure it's coming to you,
Deletewith cold temps, too!
Pull out those slippers
and don't start the wimpers.
haha.
Still no water? YIKES!
ReplyDeleteWe are back from the cottage....
Rained like crazy.....very strong winds....blowing straight in from the Lake :o(
But....we did have a fire and a dance!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Ps....what big thing did you bring home?
Still no water
Deletebut I'm not going to holler.
I've got a system down now
so I don't have a cow.
hahaha....
What did you bring home?
DeleteIt's a secret! ha....until I can get a good picture of it!
DeleteGet crackin'!
DeleteIt's not like you are busy! Ha ha ha!
Enjoy your Sunday...sun is out here!
lol.....it might not show itself until the big kitchen reveal!
DeleteOh, the suspense! ha.
Probably not the best time to tell you it was close to 80 degrees and unbearably sunny in Bend today ....
ReplyDeletehaha...probably not. But I'm happy for you...I really am! lol....
DeleteBetsy what amazing you had hail today! Is really early!
ReplyDeleteWell we have a strangue spring here!
yes, that was crazy and too cold for October! I'm sure it will warm again, but today was quite different! I stayed inside all day and got caught up on the laundry and cleaned the bathrooms. At least we have a few rooms that look normal and clean now. ha.
DeleteThanks God you have some rooms normal:)
DeleteAnd Slate was inside again?
xo
He is right here in my studio with me!
DeleteAw Iove the lovely he is:)
DeleteWe've had the same crazy temperature changes here. Today was really raw and windy.
ReplyDeleteThat will probably blow this way! Maybe we'll be cold for a few more days!
DeleteThis weather is insane!
ReplyDeleteSunny but cold today...still, great to see the sunshine!
DeleteWow- that is crazy weather. I remember the first time I heard it thunder while it was snowing...very cool! It's not that chilly here yet, but I can feel a chill in the breeze. I think we are going to have a wicked winter.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah..thunder and snow is really weird!...but really cool, too!
DeleteCrazy weather.. It is a pretty image.. Enjoy your Sunday!
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty resting on the pines!
DeleteIf it is lumpy it's hail. Sleet is worse it always seems to be driven by 50mph winds.
ReplyDeleteI agree! This was hail! What do weathermen know? ha.
DeleteIt has been so much cooler here today and yesterday, yesterday it rained like crazy in the morning, and then cleared up, but more rain is, I think, forecast for the week ahead. I hope that you don't get any more hail, that is not nice to be out in at all is it. xx
ReplyDeleteyikes...no hail here...just freezing cold...got down to 39 last night....
ReplyDeleteB was cleaning out part of the garden when the hail came (I call it hail too) and he even had them in his hoodie when he came in...WEIRD.
ReplyDeleteHi Betsy - here too .. complete change in weather and hail is a stinger ... cheers Hilary
