Back in October when I showed a picture of my Trick-Or-Treat
basket full of candy, Vincent asked where the Flakes were.
Amy said if Vincent knew Flakes, he really was English.
Of course I'd never heard of Flakes, but went to youtube
and watched a few of their adverts, which are very entertaining. :)
Well, look what came in the mail from England yesterday!
A bag of Flake bars!
Maybe they should be called twigs...or branches? Bark? ha.
Seriously, I've never seen such a thing!
They claim to be "The Crumbliest, Flakiest Milk Chocolate"
and yes, they do live up to their name.
They should not be eaten by messy children (or men) indoors.
Outside would be much better! haha.
And they're delicious Cadbury chocolate that melts in your mouth.
There are only 6 left and I refuse to say who has eaten 3 of them.
So, thank you, Amy! What a sweet surprise!
She made the pretty Christmas card and wrote in it that
she sent the big bag so I'd have plenty to share.
Share? Um, what?
♥
And here I was, sure that you were the sharing type!! Glad that you like them! xx
ReplyDeletehaha....normally I am! But not always. lol....
DeleteThanks again...that was a total surprise and so much fun!
You are welcome! xx
DeleteIt was all wrapped so pretty, too...and that card was lovely!
DeleteThank you! xx
DeleteI love these we have the same! delicious!
ReplyDeletewe call them chocolate branches:)
DeleteThat name is perfect! lol....
DeleteAnd how come you get Flakes and we don't??? :) That's not fair!
Deletehaha! sometihes we have Cadburys and I love it! and some branches come from Argentina (they have so good chocolate) I use to granish desserts too!
DeleteWe have Cadbury chocolate bars and the chocolate eggs at Easter. No branches, though. :(
DeleteGloria Baker, you have these Flakes in Mexico? Well, I think the Americans need to protest and get some, too!
DeleteVincent
Gloria, did you see Georgina's comment? Branches are Swiss and not the same as Flakes!
DeleteVincent you never read other comment! Im.no from Mexico.
DeleteIm from Chile and here we have a lot of things :))
Oh, my sincerest apologies! Chile! Why did I think you lived in Mexico? Oh, no matter. Chile it is!
DeleteBecause you dont Heard. Mexico is in North America and CHILE is in South America and of course all my life I knew where is Great Britain lol
DeleteThere's no need to be rude. Of course I know where Chile is. I guessed Mexico because you were speaking in Spanish.
DeleteIm sorry.Normally im not rude.sorry Vincent.
DeleteNo matter. I shall not bother you again.
DeleteIm sorry!
DeleteI remember those Cadbury Flake adverts. (Nice lady).
ReplyDeleteYou might be interested to know I live in Keynsham, near Bristol, and we had until recently one of the two Cadbury Chocolate factories, built in 1923, originally as Frys Chocolates. Unfortunately it was taken over by Kraft and all production shipped to Poland and now the factory is closed. What a shame - it was a major employer, They also make Crunchie Bars - delicious.
Aw, that is a shame. Crumbs! Now I have to look up Crunchie Bars! hahaha.....
DeleteCrumbs!! LOL
DeleteDon't drop the crunchies or the flakes otherwise they will end up as crumbs LOL
We used to tell the kids a silly joke when they were little:
Q. What did the man say when the steam roller ran over his sandwiches
A Crumbs LOL
Oh! I would imagine that Cadbury Flakes are still made and marketed.
Crumbs! (I knew you'd like that. ha)
DeleteBut of course Flakes are still made and marketed. I'm sure Amy sent me fresh ones!
Most certainly they are made marketed and eaten lots over here in England. And yes, purchased freshly just to send to you Betsy!!
DeleteI think Eddie needs to go shopping for some sweets! :) He lives near Bristol so surely he can find Flakes easily! :) And Crunchies, whatever those are. lol....
DeleteBut I'm sweet enough!! LOL
DeleteBetsy, and Amy - Cadburys also make Turkish Delight - full of Eastern Promise LOL They are delicious too.
In fact they make oodles of great chocolate bars.
Crumbs! I've got you all going over these chocolates haven't I LOL?
Some of Cadbury's chocs are made in Bournville (Head Office) and the rest are made in Poland now
Yep - agree with Amy
DeleteYou can buy an icecream with a flake in it called a 99. Yummy!
I have never had Turkish Delight either!
DeleteSweet enough? What was that now? lol....
DeleteJust remembered, sorry, I owe you that CD. Sorry for that delay.
DeleteI'll pop some Turkish Delight and some Crunches in with it, but better not send the 99
aw, that's sweet....I'd love to have the CD. Yeah, better not send a cone....lol....
DeleteYum! Chocolate in any form is good...but this is very unusual.
ReplyDeleteYes, very unusual...but chocolate is good in any shape and form. ha.
DeleteYou can buy an ice cream cone over here with a flake stuck in the top. It is called a "99"!!
DeleteA 99? Oh my... lol....
DeleteThis is so funny haha, just reading an American description of flakes, I used to make such a mess eating them that my mum would make me eat them in a bowl haha! So kind of Amy.
ReplyDeleteYep! A bowl would be a good idea! Our chocolate is much more boring in it's presentation. haha.
DeleteNow that's what life is all about. Caring and Sharing!
ReplyDeleteyou mean you think I should share them, too? lol....
DeleteWhat a nice thing to do!
ReplyDeleteVery nice and so much fun!
DeleteGood for Amy!
ReplyDeleteShe certainly seems like a very caring person♥
And...good for you Betsy....FREE chocolate!
Gotta love that♥
Cheers!
Linda :o)
ps.....where are those stretchy pants? ha!
I'm really needing my stretchy pants after Thanksgiving and now this! ha.
DeleteI try! xx (and I comment a lot too!!)
Deletewell, I do invite everyone to stay and chat! lol....
DeleteWow! You have the most THOUGHTFUL readers,
ReplyDeleteI sure do, including you! :)
DeleteAwwww :-)
DeleteIt does look like bark! I think I could become a "tree hugger" HaHa.
ReplyDeletehahaha....Oh, now if Eddie reads your comment, he's going to wish he thought of that. haha.
DeleteI wish I had LOL
DeleteSee I did read it LOL
And look at you! Already receiving Christmas gifts! And now you know first hand what a Flake is, even if you didn't know during Halloween! What a nice thing for Amy to do! I like to stir my tea with them!
ReplyDeleteVincent
See what you started? :)
DeleteThat I did! And it's been a delightful entertainment tonight. I've been on the phone, but have been lurking and reading as I listened to the constant chatting of my cousin while I added an "Aye" every so often!
DeleteI have to add that you would probably like a Yorkie Bar. I'm quite sure those are only here in England! But you're sweet enough without all this candy, angel.
I've had a Yorkie Bar, actually! I used to have an British friend that sent me one, along with McVites chocolate digestives. :)
DeleteOh, McVites! Quite a biccie staple here in jolly ol' England!
DeleteOnly the crumbliest flakiest chocolate... Tastes like chocolate never tested before.... Are you sitting in the middle of a field full of poppies trying to paint a watercolour in the rain? You should be. That's the place to eat your Flake!
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly where I am...looking a bit soggy by now. ha.
DeleteIf you are looking for Branches that's a Swiss chocolate bar. Yum!
DeleteOh, I think Gloria is confused then!
DeleteNope our branches are.like these Betsy I will send you a pic.xo
DeleteNever seen them before
ReplyDeleteNice to do indeed for your shore
And at least there wasn't another british food there
The spotted kind which I'm sure your aware
Aware I certainly am!
DeleteNothing spotted that comes in a can!
lol....
lol not sure one could pay me enough
DeleteTo even take a bit of that stuff
with that I do agree
Deletejust the thought is yucky.
haha.
Ok, you have my attention, what is this mysterious spotted canned not nice English food??
DeleteIt's called Spotted Dick
Deleteand we laugh and say that sounds ick.
Well that one I do know, but I've never heard of it coming in a can! You need to come and visit over here Betsy and I'll take you shopping! xx
ReplyDeleteI don't want one...no matter what the packaging is! lol!!!!
DeleteBloody hell! You have me laughing so hard my sides hurt! Oh yes, it comes in a can, among other things!
DeleteThat reminds me of something that happened to me years ago. Talk about side splitting. It's about a package of spotted dick. It would most likely be better to send it via email, so look for it in your inbox soon!
Deletei have never heard of these...i feel like i am missing out on life...smear a little peanut butter on there and all the better...smiles...
ReplyDeleteI like that idea...even better than sticking it in an ice cream cone! :)
DeleteHi Betsy - they are wonderful chocolates - I usually only have them stuck in an ice-cream cone .. it certainly improves that version of the ice-cream ... but they're good crushed and sprinkled over cakes and puds ... Lucky you and look how enlightened you now are! Cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI love that they are traditionally stuck in a cone. How fun! And yes, I feel so much more knowledgeable now! :)
DeletePuds...I love that. ha.
Oh, how fun! Don't you just love surprises?
ReplyDeleteJames and I found a shop in Ridgeway, Ontario once that sold English candies. I wonder if they had Flakes?
Good excuse to go back and see? :)
DeleteMust have been this place. I don't know that they really made candy there, can't remember that, but they did a have a lot of imported goodies. Maybe a road trip is in my near future.
DeleteSchmittz and Gigglez
Oh, and then there's this place in Crystal Beach. I think you and Linda should meet me there.
DeleteMeister's Sweets
Oh my goodness...the first place looks really fun! The second place..amazing. Packing my bags....
DeleteWe don't have those in Oklahoma but I wish we did, they look yummy.
ReplyDeleteYou probably shouldn't wear a white blouse while you eat them either :)
No white blouses....and you should stand over the kitchen sink while you eat them...which I'm very good at! ha.
