Did you see 60 Minutes last night?
Amazon.com revealed their plan to have drones deliver orders!
80% of their orders are 5 lbs or less, making it possible
to have these tiny drones deliver orders to your home
in just 30 minutes from the time you place your order!
Your package is gently placed on your driveway and
the thing flies back to it's shipment facility!
They think they could possibly have the plan become a reality
within 5 to 6 years! Spencer would love it! haha.
He places his order and starts looking out the window now!
What do you think?
What if it malfunctioned and crashed through your window? ha.
You can see the story here.
♥
Oh, scary, no way would I want that delivering things! How would you refuse delivery when they get the wrong house!!! Can you imagine. xx
ReplyDeleteI guess that's why they said a few more years to work out all the wrinkles. It's like The Jetsons for sure! ha.
DeleteFirst again!!! xx
ReplyDeletewhy yes, you are! :)
DeleteWell, if that doesn't take the biscuit! I suppose in a generation or two, we'll have flying cars. Brillant! But like you, pretty lady, I wonder about the glitches. Bloody hell would all break loose if those things malfunctioned! I wonder, if I order a cat calendar from you, can you have it to me in 30 minutes?
ReplyDeleteAdmiring you from afar,
Vincent
haha, well, no. I don't provide 30 minute across the ocean shipping. :) But something tells me you'd order one if I did! lol...
DeleteI dont see Betsy but this scary me a Little:)
ReplyDeleteIt is a little scary, isn't it? But kind of amazing, too!
DeleteYes the tecnology is amazing today!
DeleteSounds good to me! I like the speedy delivery!
ReplyDeleteMy boys would love it! haha. And I have no doubt it will eventually happen!
Deletelol I read it today
ReplyDeleteEpic Fail right away
What of those in apartments and such?
What if a thief wanted to reach out an touch?
What of big buildings and birds?
Its sensors could get blocked by their turds
What of snow, tornadoes, wind and rain?
Package would get flushed down the drain.
What of hackers changing the destination of it
And stealing all your ummm spit?
What of them falling out of the sky?
And stabbing one in the eye?
Sued up the a$$
They will be if this comes to pass
Certain conditions would have to be met
Deleteif you were to qualify, I bet.
Like a single family home,
easy to find for the drone.
Don't be such a pessimist
It will eventually happen, is my guess!
Well just as if I didn't know it
DeleteWhere e're I look I find a poet
This thing about the mailing drone
Is just like throwing doggy's bone
It makes us speak in rhyming lingo
And another starts and Beth says,"Bingo!
Someone else is talking rhymes
And someone else says "Ring My Chimes"
But this drone thing just will not work
Its inventor must be a jerk
'cause they will all collide and have a crash
And to do it would take just too much cash!
hahaha...so you can rhyme, too?
DeleteWell, then you can join the crew!
If you talk to Pat you must rhyme
if you don't it is a crime!
I'm not a pessimist at my see
DeleteI'm optimistic with glee
I'm positive it will fail
Doesn't that put me on the optimistic trail? lol
And more rhyme
That is such a fun time
Oh my - it sounds like sy fi to me!
ReplyDeleteMary x
It really does! Kinda fun!
DeleteGosh!! With hundreds on drones flying about all over the place, surly they will all crash into each other and into planes, people, buildings, cars and goodness knows what. I think one or two might be alright but how would they control the flights? My son's remote controlled helicopter is positively a dangerous weapon and that is at relatively close quarter radio controlled. I think it is too ambitious and probably too expensive.
ReplyDeleteI do agree that you wouldn't get free shipping with such a service! ha.
DeleteI saw it on the news and it is really hard to believe. Spencer would sure enjoy it though.
ReplyDeleteWouldn't he? He expects it to be immediate now! It's cute until he won't leave the window after 4 hours. ha.
Deletei think it is too high a liability for it to ever really happen...and it opens the door to a scary new world....
ReplyDeleteIn 20 years they are going to look back on our comments and laugh....just like people laughed at the Wright Brothers or Mr. Ford...or Noah. lol.... :)
DeleteI would love it! Hard to imagine it really happening!
ReplyDeleteIt would be really fun, but probably a few years off.
DeleteAnd such technology could be used by others to send other small items, like compact explosive devices... terrorists will love it. Ha.
ReplyDeleteIt would be great for procrastinators. A-hem.
DeleteI'm not sure it would be practical for mainstream uses as presented today... just say'n.
ReplyDeleteYep. But I imagine it will happen eventually! Maybe not in our lifetime, though. But I'm living forever. Just sayin'. :)
DeleteI think technology is scary!
ReplyDelete:0)
But hey, wouldn't it be nice if grocery stores could send out a dozen eggs or a cup of sugar like that?
I think I like that even better! Grocery delivery!
DeleteI saw that....kinda cool!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Linda :o)
I thought so!
DeleteDon and I were just reminding ourselves today that we are "the older generation ". I can't believe the changes I've seen in my lifetime. World War 2, till now...That little delivery drone scares me a little...BTW is my cat calendar coming that way? HaHa
ReplyDeleteIt really is amazing all the inventions that have come about in our lifetimes! I have no doubt this will eventually be a reality. haha....I'd love to send your calendar by drone! haha. ...just as long as I could hitch a ride, too! :)
DeleteOn my bucket list, is to meet you and Martha in person someday short of heaven!!!
DeleteWilbur and Bugsy patrol our airspace, they will never put up with this!
ReplyDeletehaha...I have critters on Rooftop Surveillance Duty! :) You and I would never get our packages! lol....
DeleteI'm very curious to see how this would work. How would they keep track of these things so they wouldn't crash into airplanes? But it is amazing how technology has changed the world. The things that seemed like fantasy when we were kids are not so unrealistic now.
ReplyDeleteBut, dear Betsy, what advantage would come of that expensive technology? To deliver a book in an hour instead of two days? Doesn´t impress me too much. Because what sense does it make, to accelerate everything in our lifes? Is it worth the cost and using up of resources? And how many jobs would these drones cost? We get a lot of this and that from amazon and I would not miss the frequent chatting to the friendly young guy, who brings them. I think I should better give him a nice present for Christmas this year!
ReplyDeleteI´m nevertheless sorry for poor Spencer. Hope he isn't too dissapointed...
