I pulled this wooden tray out of the auction trash a couple of weeks ago.
I needed a napkin holder and thought I'd try to give it a make over!
I mixed up some black and white craft paints (also from the auction trash!)
and gave it a single coat of dark grey paint.
Then I drew on a little decorative number on the end and used a paint pen to fill it in.
I think it's working out rather well! :)
The little green depression glass salt shaker was from the auctions, too! But not the trash. It was
in one of the boxes of vintage bottles that I bid on. I think it's sweet, worn lid and all! :)
♥
Love this Betsy look really nice:)

DeleteYes But the people yjay comments in my blg dont have idea about buries, holes and Islands sigh!!

Such lofty goals

Deleteas they come to give Gloria's blog a twirl
reading that she's in the ground
might make them frown!
hahahahaha
Looks good, like a totally different piece. Made it your own. Very neat.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm trying to imagine how you would have painted it. :) Something with abstract lines, maybe? ha.
Deletewell you certainly brought it up to style, no more the eighties look!
ReplyDeleteIt was very 80ish, wasn't it? ha.
DeleteMatches perfect with your signature 5! You're so crafty and creative :)
ReplyDeletehad to use the 5, right? haha.

why not sleep at night and play during the day?
haha that would be too easy to do
DeleteThey don't do that at any zoo
They would rather keep all awake
With the noise they make
I would rather they curled up on my bed
Deleteand snored by my head!
lol....
I like the salt shaker AND the napkin holder!

ReplyDeleteI know...it's so sweet...and I only paid one cent for it!
DeleteOh my! what a steal! I wouldn't be fit to go to auctions! Like your makeover to by the way, especially the 5 on the end there. What is it about the numbers? I've been thinking I need a 6 somewhere... and a big fat G to go with it. ha
Deleteyes, you do! Get out your paint and put it on something! hahaha. But you have to post it so I can see! :)
Deletehave to finish some other things first. then maybe :)
DeleteThe number FIVE is a great number.
ReplyDeleteI like any number with a 5 in it.
Good eye, also.
High Five!
high five...lol. :)
DeleteLove the gray, and it looks so nice on the counter with all the neat items in the picture. I feel like I got to visit you kitchen. I bought a napkin holder at the thrift store a couple month's ago, that matches my kitchen with it's splashes of red.
ReplyDeleteI love the grey, too...but I've always loved that color. I see that it's practically overtaken my house decor and my wardrobe. lol :)
DeleteI bet you look nice in grey.. The picture of me and my sis I'm wearing grey with the new white, red and grey scarf I got for my BD. Usually my closet is shades of brown, beige, cream, etc..... My girls once said "Mom, your closet is boring...add some color for goodness sakes" HaHa so I have!
DeleteYou've totally rejuvenated it! It's lovely! Take care
ReplyDeletex
It does look a bit younger and fresher, doesn't it! :)
DeleteBrilliant! Some look and see what it was but you look and see what it could be.
ReplyDeleteI like that deb...what a neat way to phrase it!
DeleteI think that's a God concept. Ah, like Father...like daughter(you).
DeleteJust lovely what you did with the napkin holder, Betsy. Okay I think you've inspired me to get on with my own painting projects (like the bathroom medicine cabinet)!
ReplyDeleteyes, but you're a real artist...so, when painting a medicine cabinet, do you get the urge to paint a beautiful landscape on the door? :)
DeleteWonderful work on the napkin holder...clever, you!
ReplyDeletethanks, janice! :)
DeleteYep, looks much better. And I like the salt shaker, too.
ReplyDeletethanks, silver :)
DeleteI'd go dumpster diving with you any day!
