My Little Lady Friend

"Be as a bird perched on a frail branch that she feels bending beneath
her, still she sings away all the same, knowing she has wings!"
Victor Hugo
Oh now, I couldn't have written that quote! Well, maybe not
as eloquently...but I love the philosophy just the same!
This little lady cardinal sits in the tree here and looks at me
as I sit at my desk. I hope she makes her nest there this
coming spring. How lovely that would be!

  8. Besides the splendid view...even if there wasn't a bird there (of which I do see)..the window is beautiful. Now I see where you get your inspiration!
The cardinal is telling you that you're going to get a visitor...as my mom used to say. :D

I had a pair of cardinals outside my window a couple of years ago. I enjoyed watching them when teaching piano, but they never did nest there.

  16. Betsy,
Do you know what happened to Matty of Matty's Thoughts? He hasn't blogged since before Christmas. I've gone in several times to his blog, but nothing there. I just now since him an email. We have emailed back and forth a little.

  17. She is so lovely. Your window looks like a painting and the bird look like she is a part of it.
The Hugo quote is one of my favorites, too. Life is a frail branch, but we still keep singing our song.

  19. The Cardinals are SO pretty in the snow! EVEN the females are striking against all the white and gray.

Does she fly into your window? My folks had trouble with Cardinals running in to their deck french doors! We have never had that problem.

  20. Jill ~ they haven't flown into my nook windows around my desk but they have hit the window that the feeder/flower box is attached to. I think the reflection has to be just right to make them think it's not glass. ha.

  21. What a beautiful window and such a pretty scene! I see the birdy. Love the Hugo quote.

(Quite often I have to right click in blogs to open images in an 'incognito window'.)

The 4 doves have come back to our feeder..but I have to sit in the back yard to enjoy them.

  27. I read a book about 5 years ago about Victor Hugo's daughter who suffered from mental illness and it was really interesting on the story of their family.

  28. Is that one of your windwos? hoiw lovely.

Yes, you coudl have well written that quote, Betsy. Of course, unlike the bird, if the branch bends too much you would fall with a rather distinct thud. LOL.
