The theme this time is 'nook'. I immediately thought of
all those nooks and crannies in English Muffins...you know,
all those little holes and crevices to hold the melted butter
and jam!? I first sketched in pencil, made final lines
in black ink and then finished with colored pencils.
I tried making a distorted reflection in the toaster.
Not really sure that turned out, but once I
started, there was no turning back! :)
It is not a weekly commitment...only twice monthly!

I think that is better than a doodle, Betsy! Very cute.
ReplyDeleteBetsy, you are very good. I love this little domestic scene. You've made me remember how hungry I am. I need to get up and fix myself some breakfast.
ReplyDeletearen't you a talented artist! I love pen and ink. I bought water color pencils a while back but haven't really gotten the hang of them. I want to take up art again but I don't know when I'll find time. Work gets in the way.
ReplyDeleteI wish my toaster was that shiny! and now all I can think of is a buttery english muffin ~ nom nom nom!
ReplyDeleteYou do have such talent!!!
Betsy,
ReplyDeleteI love the drawing/sketch of the toaster...nooks for me would be all the corners in my house that need cobwebs knocked down!!! LOL You keep sketching you have a gift!
All those nooks and crannies in an English Muffin...
ReplyDeleteYou come up with the best ideas.
Delicious, of course.
Cute, cute, cute and not your usual thought of nook and cranny but very original. Love it.

Betsy, I'm a new reader and am in love with your little animated tea cup. Did you create it yourself?
ReplyDeletePeppermint PhD ~ Hi..thank you! No, I didn't create it. I got it off of one of those free animated clip art sites back in 2008 when I started my blog.
ReplyDeleteSo hungry for breakfast now. Lovely talent you have...for drawing and making my mouth water.
ReplyDeleteu did an excellent job!

ReplyDeleteGlad I'm making you all hungry for breakfast! LOL!
ReplyDeleteLove the reflections in the toaster!! Love the way butter and jelly oozes into those little holes.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking of joining your group, it sounds like fun.
Without a computer over the weekend, had to buy a new screen. It's bigger than my old one, and I'm loving it.
Wanda ~ you SHOULD join in...it's no pressure and all fun.
ReplyDeleteI got a new big screen last year...what a difference!
Oh, how wonderful and clever...This is perfect, Betsy, and so true about the crevices in the muffins...I especially love the boiled egg here...Nothing like dunking toast points in the yolk...Yum...
ReplyDeletelovely drawing..I would never have thought of that!!!
ReplyDeleteOh dear, well, as you know, my computer was out for a while so am only now getting to everyone's artwork to actually comment. Yes, I am also doing the montage tonight. I did see this piece earlier in fact and it is so wonderful. I love it. Very cozy and yummy even. English muffins, toast, eggs--what is there not to love here? Again, you did an excellent job capturing all that detail. Persistence!--you have a lot of that I am gathering, and your art work shows all the better for it. Thank you so much Betsy for doing this!
ReplyDeleteyour English Muffin idea is so creative.
ReplyDeleteFabulous, my mouth is watering at the thought
ReplyDeleteLike the reflections and the steam swirls - good take on the theme too.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite breakfasts is an English muffin with blackberry jam with a nice tea to drink with it. Great interpretation of "Nook."
