The other night at dinner, Taylor let out an especially obnoxious burp. Being his mother, I naturally objected...
Me ~ "Taylor, good grief! You haven't done that in years! Please don't revert back to that silly adolescent humor! Yuck!"
Taylor ~ laughing, "Mom, have you EVER burped?"
Me ~ "What? You're kidding, right?"
Taylor ~ "No! Mom, I don't think I've EVER heard you burp in my whole life!"
*******
OK, isn't THAT funny!?
Shhh....don't tell him!
If an 18 year old still thinks his mom
just might be perfect,
I'm certainly not going to try and
change his mind in any way! LOL!
Awww, but you are perfect !
ReplyDeleteUs moms only burb in the privacy of our own company...right :)
I'd like to see the look on your boys faces, when you burb unexpectedly, no living it down !
I so agree!! Just let him think so:-)
ReplyDeleteThats for sure, take the compliment while you can! Come say hi :D
ReplyDeletejust for fun you could really let one rip...or maybe not. smiles.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you...keep it a secret. Perfection fits you well!!
ReplyDeleteBurrrp....oops excuse me!!
LOL, this is awesome! I agree with you, let him go on thinking his mom is... to quote Mary Poppins..."practically perfect in every way!"
ReplyDeletemelody mae ~ yes, I agree! The bubble will eventually burst! Can't believe it hasn't yet! LOL!
ReplyDeleteBrian ~ oh, he would talk about it forEVER! ha.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! Milk it for all it's worth...My 12 year old still thinks "Mom can do no wrong." That can't last much longer, though...
ReplyDeleteRebecca ~ well, if you continue to have good manners, you could be on a pedestal for at least another 6 years! ha.
ReplyDeletewell the least that we do is we don't go back down to their level after we outgrew it all. I am glad you kept a straight face.
ReplyDeleteSigh... you mean they still do it at the table when they're 18?!
ReplyDeleteChristian ~ well, no, it was unusual...that's why I said he hadn't done it in years. It was very common when he was about 10-12yrs old...followed by unending laughter. Sigh. And almost unbearable when he had a group of friends over. ha.
ReplyDeleteJust wait until he asks if you fart!
ReplyDeleteChristine ~ actually, he said that he'd never known me to do that either! ha! See...he thinks I'm perfect :)
ReplyDeleteIt's okay that he thinks you're perfect...nothing wrong with that. But what will he do when he dates a girl who lets a burp slip out?? I think he'll keep a straight face and behave with the good manners you've taught him...at least until he's alone...then he'll call you right away...laughing...I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteNo one's perfect, true but some are much closer to perfection than others... like yourself, apparently.
ReplyDeleteYou've probably never used the "F" word in your life, either. ;-)
(Let's just hope you never have to quote from any of my blog's more vehement posts!)
ReplyDeleteyou make me smile!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet your five men think you are perfect......as well they should!!!
ReplyDeleteNanny ~ I'm pretty certain #1 does not think I am...haha...but the kids still do! :)
ReplyDeleteThe Queen doesn't, neither did my Mum! This is so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree. don't ever tell him. he'll find out soon enough. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so funny Betsy! I remember Rachel's disappointment when she realized that I didn't have all the answers to her questions anymore.
ReplyDeleteKEEP IT UP! LET him think you have NEVER!!!!!! YOU are a perfect LADY!
ReplyDeleteMy 13 year old is HIGHLY into the bodily noises and is bringing his five year old brother into it! UGH...I am annoyed!
So he doesn't know about the burping contests? I need to sit down and have a little talk with him!!
ReplyDeleteThat's so sweet! My family can't say that about me... (Although, my oldest son does not burp. Seriously. Never has. Kinda strange but true).
ReplyDeleteWhat can I say except - BEEN THERE, DONE THAT!! It's a boys & their Mum thing totally Betsy.
ReplyDeleteMillie ^_^
Millie ~ I agree. I like him thinking I'm perfect! ;)
ReplyDeleteI like to think you don't too.
