Miss Manners

The other night at dinner, Taylor let out an especially obnoxious burp. Being his mother, I naturally objected...

Me ~ "Taylor, good grief! You haven't done that in years! Please don't revert back to that silly adolescent humor! Yuck!"

Taylor ~ laughing, "Mom, have you EVER burped?"

Me ~ "What? You're kidding, right?"

Taylor ~ "No! Mom, I don't think I've EVER heard you burp in my whole life!"

*******

OK, isn't THAT funny!?

Shhh....don't tell him!

If an 18 year old still thinks his mom

just might be perfect,

I'm certainly not going to try and

change his mind in any way! LOL!

  1. Awww, but you are perfect !
Us moms only burb in the privacy of our own company...right :)
I'd like to see the look on your boys faces, when you burb unexpectedly, no living it down !

  10. Rebecca ~ well, if you continue to have good manners, you could be on a pedestal for at least another 6 years! ha.

  11. well the least that we do is we don't go back down to their level after we outgrew it all. I am glad you kept a straight face.

  12. Sigh... you mean they still do it at the table when they're 18?!

  13. Christian ~ well, no, it was unusual...that's why I said he hadn't done it in years. It was very common when he was about 10-12yrs old...followed by unending laughter. Sigh. And almost unbearable when he had a group of friends over. ha.

  16. It's okay that he thinks you're perfect...nothing wrong with that. But what will he do when he dates a girl who lets a burp slip out?? I think he'll keep a straight face and behave with the good manners you've taught him...at least until he's alone...then he'll call you right away...laughing...I'm sure.

  17. No one's perfect, true but some are much closer to perfection than others... like yourself, apparently.

You've probably never used the "F" word in your life, either. ;-)
