Well, I knew I was addicted to caffeine, but didn't realize
the extent of the addiction until this morning!
I had to have some fasting blood work done and
my appointment wasn't until 10:30!
Those of you who know me, know that I have my coffee
maker on my night stand and drink my first hot steamy
cup before my feet hit the floor! So, I was a little groggy
and my head was a little achy by the time I got
home at 11:00 for my first cup!
And Oh, it tastes so good!
No worries about the blood work...at least I hope...
doing some checking on arthritis, cholesterol and
thyroid. All hereditary nuisances! :)
Did you know that some of those tests you can actually have your coffee as long as you drink it black? I found out this last winter when I had to have my blood work done for cholesterol, so no withdrawal pain for me, because I'd have been in the same boat right along with you, my friend. Might be worth asking next time, just to see.
ReplyDeleteEvery time I try to stop having my morning diet coke I get a headache. I would dearly love to quit the aspartame. I don't want to go back to the 'real thing' though because of hereditary issues with diabetes. What's a girl to do?
ReplyDeleteStevie ~ oh, I don't know! I'm a water drinker after my coffee is gone. I used to drink a lot of diet coke, but now only have it occasionally as a treat. I have a friend who drinks Mt. Dew in the morning. The soda doesn't appeal to me like the hot smooth coffee, especially first thing in the morning. But I can relate to the caffeine addiction!
ReplyDeleteI quit my diet coke to quit the aspartame too. Do you know how many thousands I've had since they came out with those when I was a teenager. The thought is frightening. So I gave them up not long before I left Virginia. If I buy a bottle to keep in the house I know I'll swig the whole thing, so I just don't buy them. I drink water after my coffee is gone too, or hot tea at night.

ReplyDeleteI love coffee too but more like the latte kinds and I can't make those or even a decent brewed cup it seems. I stick to black tea mainly when at home as a result.
Yes, I'm afraid I suffer withdrawals too if no caffeine. Ugh. I simply like it far too much.
BTW, yes, lovely pic, but yes, you could make it about 30% smaller for sake of your sidebar alone.
I've wanted to try not drinking my 2 cups every morning, but each morning I decide.....nah, not today.

ReplyDeletepreach it sister...preach it...and if you end up with a RA diagnosis...we will have to seriously talk gf!! and i was up to 3 days wo coffee...well...2 1/2...the 2nd day was terrible!! and then i caved...worse than illegal drugs i tell you!!
ReplyDeleteI went to the Dr. for migraines, years ago...he said give up coffee...I got a second opinion!!!Mine!!! Migraines gone, still have my coffee, they don't know everything/ha

ReplyDeleteNanny ~ yes, sometimes you can be your own doctor, right? I have migranes! I started taking a strong decongestant and got one of those ergonomic side-sleeper pillows and they are 90% gone!
ReplyDeleteDrinking coffee in the morning is the best thing I do! I took my daughter to Starbucks before school for a coffee and blueberry skones....just great!
ReplyDeleteI love coffee too.......was drinking too much WITH caffeine a year or so ago...over 12 cups per day. I also got into flavored creamers...so I gave it all up! THEN I decided to treat myself to occasional coffee.....but I choose decaf..and now I enjoy it more often than just occasionally....decaf. Occasionally I will have a cup with caffeine. I also enjoy McCafe coffees at McDonalds. WOW those are pretty yummy!
ReplyDeleteCaffeine is rough. I quit a while ago and did go through the shakes and all. I made it for about a year, year and a half, then I allowed myself a couple here and there and now I'm off the wagon, but I'm wide awake down here!
ReplyDeleteI love coffee. I gave it up for almost a year when I got GERD, but got back on it and I just don't drink as much as I did. I love a good cup of coffee. Yummy.

ReplyDeleteOh boy! The withdrawl headache. Hate it. I'm a 10-20 cup a day drinker (which is no where near what I used to drink ). I've known about the black coffee or even plain hot tea, during a fast( I have to keep track for Mom ). And the docs told her not even a diet soda ere a fast.

I hate when I have to have any tests done that require fasting but I do seem to recall someone had mentioned about the black coffee sometimes being allowed. But I had forgotten that bit of wisdom along the way anyhow. I am lost until I get my first cup of morning coffee -totally discombobulated! I rarely drink sodas of any type and the thought of a cold, spritzy beverage first thing in the a.m. is a total turnoff to my system. Have to have something hot!
