As a kid, I used to steal away from the after-dinner table with a bowl of strawberries and a mound of sugar in the middle of the bowl. I'd sit on the front step and dip and enjoy. My parents preferred them with cream on top, but I liked them exactly as you have pictured.
Years ago I heard a gal claiming to be addicted to strawberries dipped in sour cream then brown sugar. I've never tried it, but always thought it sounded intriguing. Ever heard of it?
I have a few strawberry plants in my backyard. It's the first time I've ever grown them. The Boys are loving watering them and watching the little berries emerge.
Regarding Heather and Reese's comment - that is how we used to have them too, but my Mom would mix brown sugar into the sour cream (a dip consistency) and then we would dunk the berries in - YUUMY!!
Also, you can't beat chocolate-covered strawberries. Mmmm - I have to go buy some now...
I'm sorry to be always "catching up" and leaving so many comments at once. I've been busy lately as we are having some birthdays and a graduation and grandchild visit ...etc. All good things keeping me offline.
I like all your new blog header and the very cute photos of you on the sidebar. You are adorable. Have a good weekend!
Absolutely DELICIOUS! I love fresh strawberry season!
