MG ~ It's our only coffee maker! I've never heard of anyone else doing it either but now that it's part of my routine, I think it would be very hard to give it up! Same with your tea...it's a great way to gather your thoughts, pray for the day, and wake up slowly and gently. :) Besides, it take caffeine to get 5 men out the door... breakfast eaten, lunches packed, shoes tied, faces washed..and we do it in 30 minutes flat! Whew! (thank goodness two of them are self-sufficient!)
Dear Betsy, been there, done that, at the time I only had four kids and one husband to get out the door. But some mornings it was more of a chore then other times. Wasn't a coffee drinker then and still not. Give me a cup of warm cocoa and I'm all set. LOL Plus at the time, I had three girls and two fellas to get out of the house. Our fourth duaghter came along later, way later, the other kids were 17, 16, 15 and 11. SURPRISE!!
LL ~ well, my hat is off to you for getting them all out the door without caffeine! LOL....and...I think girls would be harder...we'd have to get started a little earlier!
That is a crack up! I've never thought of doing that...but now that I think of it, one somewhere in my bedroom would be nice. Having coffee together is what my husband and I do together first thing every morning. But I'd need a little fridge too, cause I've gotta have flavored creamer in my coffee.
It takes a big person to admit having a coffee pot in the bedroom and an even bigger one to say "You go girl!" You deserve anything you want in life! I just noticed that wonderful picture of you and your five men in your margin. It's beautiful! You look a bit outnumbered and out sized. Has it been there for months and I'm just keenly unobservant? Help me out here.
Muswings ~ thanks for the compliment on the family picture. No, you aren't crazy...I just added it this week! Yes, outnumbered and outsized...but they still know who is in charge! ;)
your routine is quite unique but i love that you get to spend just those few minutes pampering yourself! i'm missing the time i used to spend blogging over coffee early in the morning. i carpool with my hubbie now and we leave sooooo early!
I think that's a fabulous idea! I'm assuming you take your coffee black? I'd need a fridge for my creamer. It must be wonderful to wake up to the smell of coffee!
This too we agree on! Coffee First, day to follow.
I don't always leave a comment but I want you to know that I read your blog daily. My daughters' first then yours. I love your spirit, personality, optimism and humor, oh yeah recipes also. Keep up the good work Betsy and Have A Happy Thanksgiving. Looking forward to recipes.
Nanny! I miss you! You need to comment more often! Are you helping with the kiddos while Granola is away? She definitely deserves a break! Have a wonderful holiday! xxoo
Nanny ~ oh, that is too funny! Here all these months I thought you were Granola's mother! I'm not sure why, but it was probably because you have said some sweet motherly things to her on her comments and I just assumed. Well, if you've known her since second grade, you practically are family! ;)
Up at 5 walk barefoot to the Pikes Place Jar, scoop 5 spoons into the grinder and get as clause as possible to it while its grrrr..... uhmmm the smell! Then sit on the counter and listen to every drip and think of how lucky we are
My husband should try that! Since we moved into this house with our bedroom on the third floor he's been saying we should have a microwave in our room for all the food or hot drinks that go cold while we're watching a movie. Don't think he's thought of a coffee maker.
That is the best thing I have seen all week. I wake up to the smell of the coffee pot brewing, but I would love it even more to roll over and have it right there next to me!
Thanks for sharing that idea with the world. You're right...sharing ideas IS what its all about :)
The thing is though, you'd have to have milk and sugar which means you'd need a mini fridge too...well if you were me, at least. Or, move your bed to the kitchen! Hee.
Betsy! You are so wonderful! I had missed this coffee maker next to the bed post! This post is officially going to be emailed to Francois! This is the best idea ever! A coffee lovers dream!
That is too cute, Betsy! I've never heard of anyone putting the coffee maker right next to the bed. Do you keep another one in the kitchen?
ReplyDeleteI always make sure to get up early enough to enjoy a cup of tea before the morning really gets started. An indulgence of my own.

Ha! Love it, Betsy! Just like a hotel room. I'm an espresso-girl in the am's.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time I saw anyone with a coffee maker right next to the bed. You sure have your priorities right :)
ReplyDeleteFew things can beat the fragrance of coffee early in the morning.
This too we agree on! Coffee First, day to follow.

Actually Granola is visiting my daughter in Dallas. They have been close friends since second grade.

Ha! I love this!! You are just too cute for words! I thought about putting a mini fridge next to my bed for my Diet Coke addiction, but alas...
