It's officially here!
This squirrel in my crab apple tree may not be feeling it yet,
but there are signs! A few tiny buds on the trees, a couple
of inches of tulip tips sprouting from the ground, lighter
evenings, and the robins and mourning doves have returned!
Those lighter evenings are great, aren't they?
But the mornings sure have been brutal!
I'm having some fasting blood work done tomorrow.
Not eating breakfast doesn't bother me at all.
But no coffee? What??? lol.

ReplyDeleteWhat fun
Spring has sprung
Daylight savings is still dung
Hate the morning crap
Blow it off the map
No coffee for you
Whatever will you do
Instantly drink a pot
After your blood does clot? lol

Deleteand ask for two. hahaha....
Whoever wakes in England sees, some morning, unaware,
ReplyDeleteThat the lowest boughs and the brushwood sheaf
Round the elm-tree bole are in tiny leaf,
While the chaffinch sings on the orchard bough 5
In England—now!
From "Home thoughts" by Robert Browning (Who was one of my ex-wife's ancestors incidentally!)
Dunno where the 5 came !
DeleteWhat a lovely verse!
DeleteNot Spring here until 20th, Monday, and guess what the weather is doing? . . . raining . . lol
ReplyDeleteYes, the lighter evenings are really great and I look forward to them . . feel so much better when I am outdoors in the nice warmth of the sun doing jobs and 'pottering' ~ oops maybe I should have said puttering . . lol
I can work on the tree bench and other on going projects and there is a lot of shredding of pruned branches to do.
'Fasting Blood Work!" ? . . . not sure what that is but good luck with it. Sounds like you are visiting Dracular's Castle . . lol
You . . . no coffee??? ~ Jeepers! . . lol
The 20th is the first day of spring here, too!
DeleteThis is blood work taken after you fast. (not eating) to get proper levels of cholesterol, etc without food and blood sugar affecting the numbers.
Ah! I see . . . hope you get a good level . . . :)
DeleteHave you had a coffee yet? . . . haha
DeleteLove the longer days. Good luck with the tests. I haven't had coffee since Oct. 17. I miss it!
ReplyDeleteWow...that's amazing! I bet you miss it!
DeleteYes, I'm looking forward to warmer days and staying outside a little later.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't want to give up drinking tea, I've indulged in it's potion far too may years, to give it up at this stage ;)
Good luck with your blood work, and then afterwards...more coffee !
~hugs,
Jo
Yeah, I only have to give it up for about 4 hours...haha...but it sounds awful! Monday morning after the time change? Horrible! lol.
DeleteI agree, no coffee on those mornings is the worst!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it will be a groggy few hours, that is for sure!
DeleteI must say, I'm finally ready for spring. We've been seeing signs of it very early and then we had a hard freeze last week, which did a number on a few plants and trees that had budded out. I had blood work done about a month ago. My numbers weren't so good. I knew that my diet for the last year and a half was not good, but I didn't expect to get such numbers. I've finally settled on a lifestyle change and the numbers are coming down. I'm stoked about that. The diet-lifestyle....low-fat plant based and exercise. No more Paleo, no more meat or dairy. I guess I'm one of those that just can't eat the typical Western diet. It's ok. I like what I eat and don't feel deprived. And a bonus....I've lost 8 lbs so far. That alone is a miracle for me. Good luck tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome for you! I feel the same...found something that works for me (although mine is the exact opposite of yours...lots of lean meat, veggies and dairy!) . Everyone is different! If you don't feel deprived, you can make it a lifestyle and not think of it as a diet. Love that.
DeleteHave a great week! =)
ReplyDeleteYou, too! :)
DeleteThanks! =)
DeleteI'm talking about Spring too! It makes me happy. Warmer temps and longer days - I'll take it!
ReplyDeleteThat light in the evening is the best...and will only get longer! yay!
DeleteHi Betsy - love the longer evenings ... ours starts next week, and yes the buds and leafings are starting to appear ... and that no coffee - isn't good ... still tomorrow isn't far away - hope the tests go well and are helpful ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteYes, thank you...I survived just fine!
DeleteHappy spring to you, too, Betsy! We love the longer evenings here, too. Gives us more time to be outside puttering around the grounds. Praying for you this morning.
ReplyDeleteNot warm enough for us to putter outside in the evenings just yet! Next month the afternoons will be warm enough!
DeleteHappy Spring to you Betsy...
ReplyDeleteRather dull and cloudy here this am...hoping things will improve!
Enjoy your day...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Poured rain all day and still is pouring now! We have a pond in our yard now. ha.
DeleteGood luck with your blood work. I always dislike not getting to eat breakfast!!!
ReplyDeleteI think that bothers a lot of people! I don't eat until around 9:00 anyway, so that part wasn't a big deal for me. I missed the coffee, though!
DeleteMy doctor allows me to have black coffee but I like cream in mine so I just wait. It gives me something to look forward to when the lab work is done.
ReplyDeleteYes, that first cup did taste wonderful after all that waiting!
DeleteI had to fast the other day for some blood work, too. I had the same quandary. No breakfast, fine. No coffee? Ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I wish the %$#&!@# spring would come and get it over with!
DeleteOh, you know how it goes...lots of teasing by the weather before winter is totally gone! We have another month of the tease, I'm sure!
DeleteHope your bloodwork went fine and that you weren't too crabby without your coffee. :)
ReplyDeleteSorry the boys had a hard time at church. Hoping it goes better next week.
haha...oh, goodness...it better go well...or maybe we earned enough points surviving that to skip next week. lol....
DeleteMr. Squirrel is so cute. I have my blood work on Friday, and I'm not looking forward to missing my morning coffee either.
ReplyDeleteWell, I hope your appointment is earlier in the morning that mine was! haha! And make Don take you out for breakfast when you're all done! :)
DeleteI will tell him. Pancakes sound good!!
DeleteNo signs of spring here yet, but soon. I love squirrels in their own way.....and fasting without coffee is embarrassingly brutal.
ReplyDeleteThe squirrels are multiplying around here! I say they are very brave coming into our yard!
DeleteFasting blood work is always a pain. Hubby and I always hit a restaurant afterwards...coffee is Life-blood!
ReplyDeleteThat's a very good idea!
DeleteWe've noticed a definite increase in the squirrels already, I heat them running across the roof each morning 😁
