Today, I Wore Perfume

Are you a perfume wearer?
I used to wear it every day when I got dressed
up and worked full time in the corporate world.
Now it is rare that I put any on!

I was cleaning and organizing my closet today and came across
my favorite Eternity by Calvin Klein.  It's been my favorite for
probably 30 years!  So I sprayed a little on just for fun.

I've always just sprayed it down the front of my shirt. haha.
Just one tiny spray.  I don't like it strong and I don't like
it too close to my nose or I'll give myself a headache.

Do you have a favorite scent?
Do you put it behind your ears like the rules say?
I've also heard it's good to spray it in the air and then
walk through the mist.
Inquiring minds want to know! haha.

  1. I stopped wearing perfume years ago, after working with people who were allergic to perfumes. I use a lotion with a clean and subtle scent.
Men seem to still wear heavy cologne I've noticed.

    1. I know a few men that really pile it on. haha. It's obnoxious.
I think perfume can be really annoying, too. I don't like to smell it when
someone is on the other side of the room....or on the other end of a grocery aisle.
It should be subtle, even when you are next to them...in my humble opinion. :)

  3. I like to put a dash of my favourite aftershave on, "Gorillas Armpit". Keeps the women away!

As Eddie says, you're sweet enough without any added help from scents.

  4. I love Clinique Aromatics...wear if often. One of my MOPs girls told me that her mom wore the same perfume. I guess it was popular in the 80s.

  5. Pretty perfume bottle! I wear Philosophy's Unconditional Love every day. I am like you and almost all perfumes give me a headache. But Philosophy is light and clean. They have several scents...Amazing Grace, Falling in Love, Fresh Cream, etc. But I like Unconditional Love best. I also spray mine down my shirt : )

    1. See...isn't that the best way? Your body heat can activate it and it is still subtle and away from your nose. I like the names of all of those...very charming.

  6. I can't wear perfume because I'm allergic to it and I sneeze my head off around people who do. It takes my breath away! I buy lotions at Bath & Body and they are my "perfume". :-)

  11. What a pretty bottle. I haven't smelled that fragrance. I have been a Tresor by Lancome lover and user for years and years, and I do wear it every day. I received two large bottles for my Birthday, so I'm set for quite a while.

  12. My favorite cologne now is Pleasures by Estée Lauder, but I agree scented lotion is more practical for everyday wear, and most perfumes also have a body lotion to offer.

  14. I WISH people would spray and walk through or put just a little dab somewhere - because it gives me a headache when I'm catching a constant whiff of it. However, I think it's a feel-good thing to do and it sounds like you enjoyed it!

  15. Hi Betsy - I haven't been wearing it often recently ... but did get some out the other day. I was given a bottle of Lanvin Arpege by a friend's mother after a visit to the Caribbean ... and have loved it ever since ... and it often gets commented on even now - I have bought a few new bottles!! Well done .. so glad you enjoyed it - yes a little just under the chin ... occasionally a bit more ... cheers Hilary

  16. I used to wear parfume till I got pregnant. Then I said no to chemicals. When Steve was five I started to explore with the healthier versions, mostly organic, without the rubbish in. But truth be told 99% of these are not my favorite. A the only favorite, they do not make it anymore (why they always take away something good! Why why why?) now I sometimes put my favorite Chanel 5 but I do spray it and walk through the mist actually. I do not want it on my skin. And like you I am extremely sensitive to strong smells so I hate to be next to someone who has out too much of it. Blewwwww! :-)

  17. I used to wear perfume every day, too. Then, it started making me queasy. ARggghhhh. I love to catch the scent of a good perfume on someone else... as long as it is in passing. Occasionally, I spray a tiny bit on my clothes... just barely... Because I miss it. ;) blessings ~ tanna

He's done it before with one at our shore
But yeah, with that stuff I never explore

    1. I wondered if the cats would take note.
If they did, they didn't show it.
It was such a tiny bit,
the mister didn't even notice it. ha.

  19. Rarely use scent.

When I last did, I used Lilac scent or Lily Of The Valley. Very simple and soft.

But since it has been a while, I wonder if what I have, would still "smell" right?

As to how I apply it, a spot on either side of neck. Actually I spray it on my finger, and then apply.

I now want to return to using it!!!!!!! :-)

    Cute posted question!!!!

  20. Every day, even though I'm home most of the time---Shalimar always, and just this Christmas Chris gave me a long-ago, longed-for favorite: Giorgio, which I'm wearing this minute. Way back in the eighties, I fell in love with the stuff when the Mayor's wife would come into our office in a gentle breeze of scent, so I ordered it from one of those flappy cards from a magazine---all the way from BEVERLY HILLS. My, wasn't EYE uptown!

I'm the spray-and-walk, but generally down around my knees, as it's a gentle waft.

A temporary college roommate was of the spray a great blast and flap her shirt/t-shirt-blouse/dress vigorously in the haze before putting it on, like shaking out a bedspread, persuasion and I STILL cannot abide Arpege.

    Perfume makes you feel pretty.

  22. Used to wear perfume all the time but then stopped almost totally because of rules in our workplace/theatre. Heavy users ruin it for others and can give me horrible headaches/nausea. Can't stand White Diamonds.

Most public places now have requests to not indulge in fragrance and I think that's for the best... especially for those who can't control their spray. I became very sensitive to scents several years ago and can't abide most ones.

One of my first boyfriends bought me Shalimar and I loved it. Another friend used to buy me various French perfumes for my birthday. I became quite spoiled and would only wear French perfume for the longest time!

One scent that I must look into purchasing again was made in Québec at a store called Dans un Jardin (In a Garden). It was called Mûre Sauvage (Wild Blackberry). It was divine and I received constant compliments. You could design your own perfume there as well and make something truly unique to you!

In the last couple years I have started wearing perfume again. Because I am no longer in the workplace, I decided I would wear it at home... how decadent! Bit of a pick-me-up. I usually spray my inner wrists and back of knees.

Vera Wang has a lovely fragrance called Look which I just started to wear. Rain, Warm Cotton, and Skin are all by Clean and are soft and very... clean! I think you would like them. They are reminiscent of fresh laundry. I love them.

  23. Classic ... lol ... it is ... but I also wanted to say that perfumes are something like colors to me ... it very much depends on the mood of the given day doesn't it? How is Tiger Betsy?

  28. A bit late to the party, but yes. I do. Chanel No: 19 which I love, Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay, and Penhaligon's Cornubia. I like to rotate them because otherwise I can't smell myself.
I've never liked Eternity. It smells like loo cleaner on me. But so does Chanel No: 5 which is such a classic! Yet another example of you can't please all of the people all of the time.

  29. Musk by Alyssa Ashley has been my favorite for 40 plus years. I thought they didn't make it anymore but thanks to your post and a quick search I found it. Smiling.

  30. Its hard to pick up the right perfume specially for men like us. Every perfume has a unique scent and a person who is an enthusiast of perfume can easily recognize the brand or name of them. In my daily drive, I always take a little spray on my neck and into my body not to strong just enough is good. Having said that perfume define your personalities, it is also a great way to hook some girls so guys suit up your self for the best win perfume of yours. Also note that not all men or women are used to spray perfume because of some skin allergies, I found the best soap for my skin and hoping to find the best fit perfume too.
