Are you a perfume wearer?
I used to wear it every day when I got dressed
up and worked full time in the corporate world.
Now it is rare that I put any on!
I was cleaning and organizing my closet today and came across
my favorite Eternity by Calvin Klein. It's been my favorite for
probably 30 years! So I sprayed a little on just for fun.
I've always just sprayed it down the front of my shirt. haha.
Just one tiny spray. I don't like it strong and I don't like
it too close to my nose or I'll give myself a headache.
Do you have a favorite scent?
Do you put it behind your ears like the rules say?
I've also heard it's good to spray it in the air and then
walk through the mist.
Inquiring minds want to know! haha.
♥
No, I don't wear perfume...
ReplyDeleteWell, it would be cologne for the men, of course....
DeleteNo. Really? Haha.
DeleteI stopped wearing perfume years ago, after working with people who were allergic to perfumes. I use a lotion with a clean and subtle scent.
ReplyDeleteMen seem to still wear heavy cologne I've noticed.
Jo
I know a few men that really pile it on. haha. It's obnoxious.
DeleteI think perfume can be really annoying, too. I don't like to smell it when
someone is on the other side of the room....or on the other end of a grocery aisle.
It should be subtle, even when you are next to them...in my humble opinion. :)
No perfume for me . . . :)
ReplyDeleteAs for you I think you are intoxicating without it . . . lol
I see, you just stink then do you? Ha!
DeleteI use deodorant of course . . . lol. . bit that's not perfume. . .:)
DeleteI'm so glad to hear you use deoderant! haha. :) D.O. makes
Deleteeveryone happier!
I like to put a dash of my favourite aftershave on, "Gorillas Armpit". Keeps the women away!
ReplyDeleteAs Eddie says, you're sweet enough without any added help from scents.
Yes, I suppose that would keep even the men away...and Dinky! haha.
DeleteThanks, Keith...that was very sweet.
I said it as well . . . ;) . . lol
DeleteYes, you did.and first!....your comment got buried in another conversation and went
Deletea different direction before I had the chance to reply. :). haha.
As long as you think I'm a sweetie then that's ok . . lol
DeleteI love Clinique Aromatics...wear if often. One of my MOPs girls told me that her mom wore the same perfume. I guess it was popular in the 80s.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of that one but it sounds like you have some approval! :)
DeletePretty perfume bottle! I wear Philosophy's Unconditional Love every day. I am like you and almost all perfumes give me a headache. But Philosophy is light and clean. They have several scents...Amazing Grace, Falling in Love, Fresh Cream, etc. But I like Unconditional Love best. I also spray mine down my shirt : )
ReplyDeleteSee...isn't that the best way? Your body heat can activate it and it is still subtle and away from your nose. I like the names of all of those...very charming.
DeleteI can't wear perfume because I'm allergic to it and I sneeze my head off around people who do. It takes my breath away! I buy lotions at Bath & Body and they are my "perfume". :-)
ReplyDeleteMarla
Bath & Body have the best smelling lotions, don't they? Yum.
DeleteOh yes! My fav is Waikiki Beach Coconut. Luckily I can order it on Amazon if it's not in the stores. If I spend too much money anywhere, it's def. at B&B. ha ha
DeleteOh, that's perfect! I love coconut anything...food, scents, candles, candy. I might have to get some of that! :)
DeleteMe too! I think they have it in stores around summertime. Check it out on Amazon or maybe even Ebay!
DeleteThat's a great idea! Thanks!
DeleteI like Versace Bright Crystal. I wear it occasionally. You know...it's one of those things that one must wear when dressing up. Lol. I spray a little down my shirt and a little on my wrists.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I like the name of that one, too! Yes, it's the finishing touch when you're all dolled up!
DeleteNo perfume here. A bit of scented lotion, but that is all.
ReplyDeleteI like scented lotion...and it's more practical for every day, too.
DeleteI used to wear perfume all the time, too. However, several years ago I started wheezing whenever I was around scent (even on me). So, of course it had to go.
ReplyDeleteYes, wheezing would definitely take the enjoyment out of it!
DeleteI do wear perfume and usually wear Philosophy Pure Grace. It's light and clean smelling. I spray the front of my shirt too. :)
ReplyDeleteLight and clean....my favorite kind of scent!
DeleteWhat a pretty bottle. I haven't smelled that fragrance. I have been a Tresor by Lancome lover and user for years and years, and I do wear it every day. I received two large bottles for my Birthday, so I'm set for quite a while.
ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised at all that you wear perfume every day! :) You're the queen of class, Wanda! And I remember that you even wear lipstick to bed, so you might as well smell wonderful, too!
DeleteYes, it's true...I have kept Revlon in business for years with my coral #750. HaHa.
DeleteMy favorite cologne now is Pleasures by Estée Lauder, but I agree scented lotion is more practical for everyday wear, and most perfumes also have a body lotion to offer.
ReplyDeletePat
That is true....most perfumes has a line of other scented products! I've smelled Pleasures and really like it!
DeleteI wear Clinique Aeromatic Elixir...over 30 years now...love it! Everyday!
ReplyDeleteWomen are always asking what I am wearing...very fresh scent.
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Very nice! You know if you love it 30 years later, it's a keeper, right?
DeleteI do like the fresh ones...light and clean!
I WISH people would spray and walk through or put just a little dab somewhere - because it gives me a headache when I'm catching a constant whiff of it. However, I think it's a feel-good thing to do and it sounds like you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteYep, I totally agree....I get a headache...or feel nauseous!
DeleteHi Betsy - I haven't been wearing it often recently ... but did get some out the other day. I was given a bottle of Lanvin Arpege by a friend's mother after a visit to the Caribbean ... and have loved it ever since ... and it often gets commented on even now - I have bought a few new bottles!! Well done .. so glad you enjoyed it - yes a little just under the chin ... occasionally a bit more ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteVery nice! And if you are complimented on it, then you know it's a good one!
DeleteI used to wear parfume till I got pregnant. Then I said no to chemicals. When Steve was five I started to explore with the healthier versions, mostly organic, without the rubbish in. But truth be told 99% of these are not my favorite. A the only favorite, they do not make it anymore (why they always take away something good! Why why why?) now I sometimes put my favorite Chanel 5 but I do spray it and walk through the mist actually. I do not want it on my skin. And like you I am extremely sensitive to strong smells so I hate to be next to someone who has out too much of it. Blewwwww! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat happens to me all the time....my favorites get discontinued! Ugh! Don't you hate that? Chanel 5....such a classic! :)
DeleteI used to wear perfume every day, too. Then, it started making me queasy. ARggghhhh. I love to catch the scent of a good perfume on someone else... as long as it is in passing. Occasionally, I spray a tiny bit on my clothes... just barely... Because I miss it. ;) blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeletePutting it on your clothes is a good idea...just a little goes a long way, I do agree!
Deletehaha so you are a smelly one
ReplyDeleteOrlin would sniff the air and then run
He's done it before with one at our shore
But yeah, with that stuff I never explore
I wondered if the cats would take note.
DeleteIf they did, they didn't show it.
It was such a tiny bit,
the mister didn't even notice it. ha.
Rarely use scent.
ReplyDeleteWhen I last did, I used Lilac scent or Lily Of The Valley. Very simple and soft.
But since it has been a while, I wonder if what I have, would still "smell" right?
As to how I apply it, a spot on either side of neck. Actually I spray it on my finger, and then apply.
I now want to return to using it!!!!!!! :-)
Cute posted question!!!!

I'm sure it's still good after all this time. You should get it out and give it a try!
DeleteEvery day, even though I'm home most of the time---Shalimar always, and just this Christmas Chris gave me a long-ago, longed-for favorite: Giorgio, which I'm wearing this minute. Way back in the eighties, I fell in love with the stuff when the Mayor's wife would come into our office in a gentle breeze of scent, so I ordered it from one of those flappy cards from a magazine---all the way from BEVERLY HILLS. My, wasn't EYE uptown!
ReplyDeleteI'm the spray-and-walk, but generally down around my knees, as it's a gentle waft.
A temporary college roommate was of the spray a great blast and flap her shirt/t-shirt-blouse/dress vigorously in the haze before putting it on, like shaking out a bedspread, persuasion and I STILL cannot abide Arpege.
Perfume makes you feel pretty.
rachel
I remember Giorgio and saved many of those samples from the magazine inserts! I hadn't thought of that in years and years!
DeleteI love perfume! But, I havent worn it lately.
ReplyDeleteWell, maybe it's time for a little dab now and then!
DeleteUsed to wear perfume all the time but then stopped almost totally because of rules in our workplace/theatre. Heavy users ruin it for others and can give me horrible headaches/nausea. Can't stand White Diamonds.
ReplyDeleteMost public places now have requests to not indulge in fragrance and I think that's for the best... especially for those who can't control their spray. I became very sensitive to scents several years ago and can't abide most ones.
One of my first boyfriends bought me Shalimar and I loved it. Another friend used to buy me various French perfumes for my birthday. I became quite spoiled and would only wear French perfume for the longest time!
One scent that I must look into purchasing again was made in Québec at a store called Dans un Jardin (In a Garden). It was called Mûre Sauvage (Wild Blackberry). It was divine and I received constant compliments. You could design your own perfume there as well and make something truly unique to you!
In the last couple years I have started wearing perfume again. Because I am no longer in the workplace, I decided I would wear it at home... how decadent! Bit of a pick-me-up. I usually spray my inner wrists and back of knees.
Vera Wang has a lovely fragrance called Look which I just started to wear. Rain, Warm Cotton, and Skin are all by Clean and are soft and very... clean! I think you would like them. They are reminiscent of fresh laundry. I love them.
Well, nobody does perfume like the French! :)
DeleteClassic ... lol ... it is ... but I also wanted to say that perfumes are something like colors to me ... it very much depends on the mood of the given day doesn't it? How is Tiger Betsy?
ReplyDeleteWe had to say goodbye to Tiger this morning, unfortunately. :( I gave it my best but he was too far gone. I didn't want him to suffer any longer. Thanks for asking about him. :)
DeleteOh Betsy!! I am so sorry to hear that! Poor Tiger. But it was probably for the best. I know you tried your impossible even! sending big hugs and lots of love!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
DeleteSo sorry to see the sad news about Tiger. Thinking about you . .
DeleteI just came to your blog and noticed you hadn't updated your sidebar since Monday. I was about to leave a comment about that, hoping that everything was okay, when I saw the above comment. So very sorry about Tiger. I was really rooting for the little guy.
ReplyDeleteIm so sorry by Tiger, was a sweet boy. So sad :(
ReplyDeleteSo sorry about Tiger, Betsy. You really did your best for him. I know he had a good life and knew he was loved due to all of your efforts for him and all of his pals.
ReplyDeleteA bit late to the party, but yes. I do. Chanel No: 19 which I love, Jo Malone Blackberry & Bay, and Penhaligon's Cornubia. I like to rotate them because otherwise I can't smell myself.
ReplyDeleteI've never liked Eternity. It smells like loo cleaner on me. But so does Chanel No: 5 which is such a classic! Yet another example of you can't please all of the people all of the time.
Musk by Alyssa Ashley has been my favorite for 40 plus years. I thought they didn't make it anymore but thanks to your post and a quick search I found it. Smiling.
ReplyDeleteIts hard to pick up the right perfume specially for men like us. Every perfume has a unique scent and a person who is an enthusiast of perfume can easily recognize the brand or name of them. In my daily drive, I always take a little spray on my neck and into my body not to strong just enough is good. Having said that perfume define your personalities, it is also a great way to hook some girls so guys suit up your self for the best win perfume of yours. Also note that not all men or women are used to spray perfume because of some skin allergies, I found the best soap for my skin and hoping to find the best fit perfume too.
