Chapel Bird Feeder

I went to an auction today.  I go to find things to sell in
my little antique shop, but usually something finds a
way to come home with me to stay.
And that's how it was with this vintage bird feeder.
I couldn't resist it's charming look, metal roof and
shallow bottom.  I think it will be perfect for
those dried meal worms for the wrens!

I've found that I can't hang a bucket-full in the tree because
at night the raccoons climb the tree and devour the whole thing!
So this will be perfect for putting out just enough to last the
daylight hours and I can add more the next morning.

I'm loving the way it looks in the crab apple tree!

And I made sure I had a good view of it from inside, too!

    1. Oh, and I finally got to see the moon last night. Astonishing. Sad that I missed the full moon but even 3 days later it was spectacular.

  3. Well that's just beautiful and a good idea about only filling enough for daytime feeders.

    1. Yeah, I was afraid the coons would pull it don't and destroy it.
They dragged that little bucket across the yard! haha.

  4. That looks like it will do the trick
And keep the raccoons from eating what we think is ick
But they and the birds love the worms
Maybe they can come to sharing terms?

    1. I wonder if they care
      to share?
      The coons come at night
when the birds are out of sight.
      Greedy things they are
      as they leave things ajar.

    1. It would be a cute apple holder, too, wouldn't it? Just needs a nail to hold it.

  14. I hope your little birdie friends remember to say Grace before tucking into the seeds. "We thank thee Betsy for what we are about to gobble down before Cyril finds it".
