A Little Day Trip

Remember when I went to Utah in September to stay
with my niece while her husband was in Europe?
She has a one year old and was 8 months pregnant at
the time.  Well, they are in Ohio visiting Grandpa so
I took a little trip about an hour away to visit, too!
I just had to see them again, and was especially anxious
to meet this sweet little one!

Her name is Iaia (pronounced ya-ya) and she is
absolutely perfect!  Happy Auntie here!  Especially
since they will all be coming down to our house for
Thanksgiving dinner.  Taylor and Lauren will be
here too!  Fun, fun!  Can't wait!

  3. She is one of the most gorgeous babies, I remember seeing pictures of her mum when she was an opera singer, and she is one beautiful young lady.
What a sweet picture of you both, I can only imagine the excitement and fun that Thanksgiving Day has in store for you this year :)

Please don't be offended, but what kind of a name is Iaia? I am fascinated by names and love to know where they come from and what people were thinking when they made their choice.
Several people I know were given their names because their parents simply couldn't agree on anything else - Elizabeth for one. Always known as Lizzie as a child but now Liz from choice. Another girl (now grown up and a mother of 2 - Otis and Talulah) was given the middle name Nancy because it was her father's favourite character in literature.
My parents were forced into my middle name because my father's mother said she would never speak to him again if I wasn't named after her. On the other hand, my mother's mother said she would never speak to her again if I was named after HER! Granny hated her name - Winifred. And she didn't have a middle name so nothing to change to if she had felt like it.
    It's a fascinating topic.

    1. I think the name is Italian. Her mom found it online as belonging to an artist of ancient times and really liked it. Their first daughter is Zuzu and she liked the way they sounded together.
I'm an Elizabeth and so it their mom. She was Liz and didn't like that nickname so took on the Scottish equivalent of Elspeth. Someone I got Betsy out of Elizabeth. haha...so many nicknames to that name!

    2. Yes Elizabeth and Margaret both. I astonished me of the reluctant taste testers the other day by telling them Daisy was short for Margaret. They had no idea.
Well Zuzu and Iaia certainly sound pretty together. And I guess when they go to school they won't get confused with 10 other little girls all with the same name.

    3. Yes, so true! I was the only Betsy in all of my years at school and I liked that!

  13. What a beautiful baby girl. And when I saw her name I smiled. Our daughter, Amelia, was called Ya Ya by her brother for many a day before he learned to say Amelia. I know you enjoyed that sweet loving!!
