Hi Betsy - the moon has been 'extra' bright recently - now it wends its way along the English Channel streaming in the windows ... it is a gorgeous sight in the sky .. cheers Hilary
Slowly, silently, now the moon Walks the night in her silver shoon; This way, and that, she peers, and sees Silver fruit upon silver trees; One by one the casements catch Her beams beneath the silvery thatch; Couched in his kennel, like a log, With paws of silver sleeps the dog; From their shadowy cote the white breasts peep Of doves in silver feathered sleep A harvest mouse goes scampering by, With silver claws, and silver eye; And moveless fish in the water gleam, By silver reeds in a silver stream.
T&L were in town to pack up the last of their apartment and spent the night. They left at 6AM! I am NOT usually up at that hour. haha. And with the moon still up, it was proof that nobody should be out of bed at that hour! lol....
I'm afraid that my eyes were not open this AM to see that gorgeous moon. A few evenings ago or shall I say early morning (like 3 AM) the Full moon was shining right into my eyes from my bedroom window. It woke me up...for a moment I almost thought it was daytime. What an amazing part of creation!
Hello Mr Moon ~ you look bright and dandy today . . :)
ReplyDeleteEddie, Betsy has certainly captured the moons "silvery shoon". Excellent picture.
DeleteMr. Moon was still up this morning! The sun certainly was shining on his sleepy face. haha.
DeleteCan't see his face ~ wonder if he was wearing shades . . lol
DeleteHe's peeking at you with one eye! :)
DeleteMust be a lady . . . hahaha

DeleteSlowly, silently, now the moon
ReplyDeleteWalks the night in her silver shoon;
This way, and that, she peers, and sees
Silver fruit upon silver trees;
One by one the casements catch
Her beams beneath the silvery thatch;
Couched in his kennel, like a log,
With paws of silver sleeps the dog;
From their shadowy cote the white breasts peep
Of doves in silver feathered sleep
A harvest mouse goes scampering by,
With silver claws, and silver eye;
And moveless fish in the water gleam,
By silver reeds in a silver stream.

As a schoolboy I had to learn that off by heart as punishment for some misdemeanor, and I still remember it to this day.
DeleteI've never heard that poem before....I love it. Beautiful!
Delete"shoon" is Middle English for "shoes". Just saying. . .
DeleteI didn't know that! I thought it was a glow or shine!
DeleteI memorised this as a child, too. But not as punishment. It's one of my favourites.
DeleteWonderful shot!
ReplyDeleteIt was beautiful!
DeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous, huh!
DeleteA great shot
ReplyDeleteThe moon was easy to spot
Staring back at you
Hovering over your zoo
Almost needed sunglasses, too.
DeleteIt was very bright, it's true!
OK....what the heck are you doing up at 6am?
ReplyDeleteGreat shot...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
