A Wine For When You're Whiny

I'm having one of those days.
You know the ones.  You have a terrible head cold
and you feel like you're in a fog.  Why do summer colds
feel even worse than those during the winter?  I think it's
the humidity!  You can't breath anyway and then you step
outside into the hot heavy air and you can scarcely get it
to flow through your lungs.  lol...

I had to go to the grocery today...fridge was totally empty
(happens frequently with all these men living here) and it
was pouring rain.  So I was a brick head that couldn't breath,
and wet legs from the knees down from the rain
spattering up off the parking lot.  haha.
But we made it through alright.

On the way home I had a sneezing fit.  It's hard to drive while
sneezing, isn't it?  Have you tried to keep your eyes open while
you sneeze?  Impossible! Six huge sneezes while having to go to the
bathroom most certainly will make you pee your pants a spoonful.
What on earth?  I thought only old and pregnant
women did that! hahaha.  That's two groups of women...old,
and pregnant.  Not pregnant old women. lol....although they
would have that problem for sure! ha.

I picked up a little something for myself at the grocery,
though.  Sparkling peach wine?  Don't mind if I do.
And yeah, I'm a sucker for a beautiful bottle like that.
Isn't it pretty?  Tastes wonderful, too.
I'm feeling better already!

Hard to drive while sneezing indeed
Cold suck no matter when they take seed
But the extra sweating and heat and crap
Sure makes it an extra blah of a lap
    Enjoy the wine
As now all the men has food to dine

  5. I hear you loud and clear, although mine was from allergies. I was at the Dr. the day after Memorial Day. I had asthmatic bronchitis and sinusitis and was on meds for two weeks. This has been one of my worst allergy seasons in years. Sneezing and driving? I did that a few months ago, hit a curb, and blew a tire. Welcome back to the world of driving after 13 years. lol. The wine sounds wonderful - have a glass for me since I can't. :-)

    1. Ugh...poor you! My allergies have been so much better this year! But I switched to Flonase and can't believe the difference. Hope yours get better! And the sneezing and driving...goodness...can get dangerous! haha....

  7. My boyfriend uses Flonase but it didn't help me, so my doc put me on Afrin. Along with the prednisone, the two combined worked wonders.

Dangerous for sure. It was bright and sunny that day and I happened to look up at the sun and started sneezing right away. Have always had that reaction afterwards. A pricey lesson learned. ha ha.

    2. HaHa!! I think I'm a year older. But, oh joy....you just wait. When out and about, you learn where all the clean restrooms are and then when you're running or riding the bike, you're scoping out patches of woods....just in case. Lol!!!

  11. You have the ability to take a "snotty tissue" situation, and turn it into a delightfully funny story for us. Yes, can just picture you at the parking lot. But what a pretty ending with that sparkling peach wine. Wish I could share a glass with you. We are on our last leg of the trip and finally where I could take a minute on Don's computer. Hope you are better soon...maybe after that bottle....you will be. HaHa.

  13. Oh dear! As you said ... one of those days ... hoping you feel better by now. One of my friends just started to do a physio to keep those muscles closing tight :-) she is very happy with it! And she is still pretty young ... I guess it all happens on each physiology, number of kids etc ... The wine looks delicious I hope it did help!! and yes, for some reasons, the summer colds seems so much more annoying then the winter ones :-( get well soon!!

  14. Oh And I meant to write 'it all depends' ... and mostly after rereading my comment it sounded like I am saying you are not young, which could not be father from the truth!!!! I did not mean like that, so sorry!! Not always easy to express correctly in a foreign language ... and btw. my friend is 51 y/o ...

    1. hahaha...oh, you're fine. I got what you meant. And I am old! haha.

      Delete
    2. Well that is the thing ... You are not!! I have rarely seen someone looking 25 when they turned 50! Besides nowadays that is just the beginning of the second half isn't it?! I always wonder whether people would actually feel and stay younger if they would not be getting a label of how old they are ... Just imagine that no one tells you that you are ... years old... that would be so cool :-)

      Delete
    3. Yes...it's more how old you feel than the actual number! That's why it's so important to take care of yourself!

      Delete
    4. So true!! And I think that you not only look half your official age but you also keep your mind young and it shows :-)
Ps: did you have the possibility to try the lavender tea?

      Delete
    5. I haven't tried it yet! My lavender bundles dried very nicely! So, did you just steep the buds in hot water like you would tea leaves?

      Delete
    6. My lavender is not edible, I think. Don't want find out it was not ... Lol. So I buy the edible in a local health store. I just pour hot water over the buds for 10 minutes and then drink it. You have got my email? send me your postal address I will send you one bag :-)

      Delete
    7. Oh, that is so sweet of you. Let me find out first if mine is edible. If it is, I have plenty of my own. Let me find out and I'll let you know!

      Delete
    8. There seems to be disagreements about it! Some say it isn't culinary lavender if you buy it from the garden center to plant in your yard. So many I better not drink it. The soil might have had chemicals in it when it was purchased in a pot. So, yes, please...send me some! How fun! You're so nice to do that! I don't think I have your email so send me a note elizabethbrock at att dot net

  21. I do hope you're feeling better now. I meant to comment last night but accidentally abandoned my computer and went to bed instead! I had a some neighbours once who used to make wine. Some of it was rather good, but then one day they brought out a bottle of peach wine. Oh dear. Yuk! Yukkety yuk! It tasted of warm candle wax - you know when the candle has been burning for a bit and you get a little puddle of molten wax? I imagine your bottle tasted a lot better than that.
