Kitchen Puttering

My bread board collection is growing.
The middle one came home with me yesterday.
I love how distressed it is and the hanging ring on the top.
I scrubbed the heck out of it so it's clean now.  Still,
I doubt if I'll ever use it.  I just like how it looks.

I cleaned out this part of my kitchen cabinets...dusted,
rearranged, purged, etc.  Surprisingly after over a year
they weren't dusty at all.  It's the floors that are a
constant disaster here, yet I chose to play with
dishes when I cleaned today. lol....stepping over
dust bunnies and crumbs...maybe this evening
I'll get to the floors. :)

These antique English plates from 1913 came home with me
yesterday.  I seem to be drawn to brown transferware
lately.  I thought they looked like autumn!
Won't they be pretty for Thanksgiving dinner?
They even have quails on them.

I did manage to get a few new items listed
in my etsy shop today, a few sales packaged
and shipped.....and 2 loads of laundry done.
The boys had the day off, so we're bedhead and
jammies today.  It's been lovely...as long as we
don't look in the mirror....hahaha....
What did you do today?

  2. Your cabinet looks beautiful - successful puttering. And your bread board collection is charming. I need to get one of Taylor's.
I did some cleaning chores, caught up on correspondence and banking, and made a date with my Dad for next week!

  4. The board is lovely! There is something about the wood isn't it? Love the plate too. And yes, it would be perfect for Thanksgiving!! Apart of the usual chores I did mow the loan. I still need to use the trimmer but for the rest it looks good. For a week or so my guess ... have a awesome weekend Betsy!

  5. Betsy, believe it or not there are some Jelly Bellys left in the dish on the table. ( Mostly flavors I do not like) I was off to MOPs this morning as I am a mentor there. Then I helped set up for a Ladies Conference at our church. Right now I am vegging out on the computer before heading back to church. Aren't Jammy Days a nice break every now and then. BTW, love those autumnal dishes...beautiful!

  6. I'd have to wash my kitchen floor every day to keep it clean...something I don't have the time or inclination to do!

    1. I rarely wash it, but it does get swept or vacuumed every day! It needs a good scrubbing now, though!

  9. I just cant believe someone has tidy has you would have dust bunnies! If you want some Brit ones I can send you some in a plain white envelope.
That new old breadboard looks a bit moth-eaten, I wouldn't like to use it as such myself.

    1. Lots of pets here...so the dust bunny are really hair bunnies. :)
We keep our vacuum warmed up all the time.
I won't be using the board for any food, so no worries.

  10. Love, love your bread board collection. They are one of my favorite things to use and display in the kitchen. I don't have any as vintage as yours, though. Sigh! I'll find one or two, someday. I did find one shaped like a whale at Home Goods the other day. I'm going to hang it in the kitchen at the beach.

    1. I love Home Goods! I haven't been there in ages but I always enjoy shopping there! You need to get yourself to some auctions...or thrift stores, at least. I bet you could find some nice old boards!

    2. Okay - I have to laugh. In the last sentence of your reply to Laurie, I first read it as, "I bet you could find some nice old broads!" Ha!

    3. lol...oh, that is hilarious! I'm sure there are nice old broads at the thrift stores, too! haha...

  11. I love your bread boards. Until I moved I had one very similar to yours with the hanging ring that had belonged to my mother. And, yes, indeed, that brown transferware will be great on your Thanksgiving table. What did I do today? Twenty of us from our 55+ apartment complex went to the Texas Roadhouse for yummy steaks. I ate so much I could barely walk. hehe.

Busy, busy day. Marshall's to return something, Michael's to use my gift card for some new art supplies and ribbon, the 99 Cent store for a gift bag and tissue paper, CVS for some Rx and a new lip liner (mine was down to a inch stub..HaHa. Going away for the weekend to celebrate a cousin's 70th BD. Will check in on you Monday. Hugs.

  16. We had snow at 5:00 AM this morning. I can see the weather out of the window, under the street light, and the snow began almost like sleet or fine snow and then switched to large flakes. My mother told me that when it is snowing, the fine flakes accumulate and the really big ones come at the end of the snow storm and that is how it was here this morning. The sidewalk where the mailman will have to walk is like frozen slush. By the way, I really do like your scales. I am not partial to plates--we use a lot of paper plates nowadays--Patty is still young at 80 but after 61 years of being married she discovered that I don't mind what I eat off of as long as it is clean. I am always inspired by your work, your posts and your boys. You have inspired me to try a larger blog: awlincoln.blogspot.com is my first attempt. (Just type the URL in and see what comes up).

  17. HA! Just from the pictures you've posted over the years of your home, I really doubt that you EVER have a problem with dusting...or dust bunnies...or any of the rest of that stuff. Your place always looks SPOTLESS!! And don't say you cleaned it up for the pictures! Aside from that tease, I love your vintage collection of stuff too. You get some of the neatest things!

    1. haha...well, I do love a clean house and try to keep at it on a regular basis. And I've discovered that if you don't have a lot of clutter, the cleaning can be done quickly and easily and really isn't such a big chore any more. Some rooms are mastered like that..and I have a few rooms left that still attract all the junk..which starts the cycle of being too hard to keep clean, too cluttered to handle, and too overwhelming to tackle. Mainly, I'm talking about my studio. lol....

Yep, I'm loving the vintage collecting....and I haven't forgotten the singing cowboys, either! ;)
