- This window planter has become 'the penthouse' since we started our rescue cat project. They use it as a lookout perch, a safe elevated place to nap, and a good way to look into the window.
- My arthritis has knocked my flat on my butt the last three days! And along with it I had a 2 day migraine. Incredible. lol...today I feel good and am back to my normal crazy, over-achieving self. I'm also trying some new pain management ideas such as the Relief Factor. I'm still in the trial phase of it, so we'll see if it makes a difference. I'm too young for this! haha. Geesh.
- I went to my first auction last week as a customer instead of an employee. All the fun and none of the work. haha. One of the reasons I quit was because the registration counter was constructed way too low and I had terrible neck and back pain on auction day and the day after. It was an ergonomic nightmare! Even after many requests (and not just be me) over 6 months to have it raised to a proper height, it was made clear that it wasn't going to be changed. So... I'm the one that had to make the change! Not my only reason for leaving, but it wasn't helping my situation. You have to take care of yourself, right? Anyway, the bidding was fun and I filled my Jeep with pretty things. It's slowly being added to the shop!
- Am I the only one that is bothered by all the advertisements on so many blogs these days? I understand the desire to make some money on a site but the ads that pop over the photographs or follow your cursor are very annoying,...not to mention the videos that start unsolicited. It seems that these bloggers are loosing readers instead of gaining 'clicks' on the ads.
- Manu is taking over my RAK challenge this year! I wasn't going to host one. Some people were wonderful last year and some left me completely at a loss for words on how selfish some can be even when trying to do a kindness challenge! haha...but Manu was great and she wants to host this year. One act of kindness each week and a post about it on each Friday this month. Her blog is here if you want to join in! I will be!
- I did my seasonal stocking of my glove box last week. For winter I have a bottle of water, 2 granola bars, advil, lip balm, tissues, hand sanitizer, along with a few bandaids and antibiotic ointment. The first day I had it filled, I used the advil and lip balm, so it's a good thing to do!
- It's Iowa Caucus night. You know I find politics fascinating, so I'll have the news on the tv while I do some other things tonight, just to see what happens!
- We have brilliant blue skies today. Lovely!
♥
Betsy I hope you feel better soon. Maybe is the cold weather is not good for yours bones.
ReplyDeleteBut believe me here is SO HOT. Awful.
Only I want is my autumn :)
I hate advertisements in blogs, I dont like .... and I dont have money lol
But is too much sometimes
Hugs!!
Oh yes...it's summer for you! Jump into the pool! :)
DeleteReally I dont have so much time for swim this year.
DeleteMy dad is sick many times and I try to help my mom when I can.
Hope you feel better.

DeletePoor you ~ so sorry you were in pain but glad you are better now. Yes you are much too young for those problems . . :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting about the auction and it seems they are the losers for not listening to your reasonable requests . .
What do you think of Mr Trump? . . . do you think he might be the eventual Republican candidate?
Yes, it is too bad....and I wasn't the only one asking! We even ask while it was still under construction (new facility).
DeleteI don't know what I think of Trump. haha....lots I don't like, a few things I do!
A bit gun ho for President methinks . . . he should activate brain before activating tongue more regularly . . . like his toupee . . lol
DeleteI agree with you about blogs that have adverts plastered all over them. I've lost count of the number I have now abandoned because of the ads and pop-ups. From the start I vowed that I wouldn't have ads on my blogs, because as you say, it drives people away. I don't need them, after all, my domain and hosting charges only come to £20 ($28.85) per annum. A pittance compared to the amount of enjoyment I get from them!
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are feeling much better today. Actually I feel a bit better too, in fact I went for a short walk today after being 'confined to barracks' for three days!
DeleteYes, today was a good day...glad it was for you, too! I didn't go outside but took plenty of steps indoors!
DeleteLooks like a nice view
ReplyDeleteAnd a place to nap too
Ugg to stupid pain indeed
Hate the crap at my feed
Especially sitting at a crummy desk 8 hours a day
But have to slave away for pay
If I can ever slave away lol
Wish pfffft to it I could say
We need to find that treasure
Good the auction now brings pleasure
I worked back around after my whine
See, things can align
And pfffft to stupid ads and stupid videos and stupid follow the clicky thing
I ignore each ad wannabe king
Yes, we need to find that treasure
Deleteand the fountain of youth might bring some pleasure!
Maybe a two in one
could be found under the sun!
That would be fine by me
DeleteCan't win squat at my sea
So a find it will have to be
Maybe under a tree
Sorry to hear that you have been in pain. I have never had a migraine, but I do have arthritis and lately it has been getting worse, especially in my knees.
ReplyDeleteI don't see adverts on blogs because I have the add on to chrome - adblock. It stops all ads.
I am anxious to hear the results for Iowa today.
I have adblock but I'm talking about things on people's posts and sidebar...not ad popups.
DeleteSo your arthritis is bad, too!? Must be the weather....
I ignore the ads on blogs or they would be annoying. Good idea to keep supplies in the car, especially water and sun block and skin lotion. I keep an extra hat in my car in case I need one.
ReplyDeleteHow can you ignore the ads that cover the photos in their posts? lol....or the ones that center on the screen until you click the X and make them go away?
DeleteGlad your arthritis and migraines have subsided for now. Hope your new pain treatment helps. Not sure if you should be watching the Iowa primary results, though... depending on the results, it could trigger some severe migraines! :)
ReplyDeletehaha...well, the caucuses won't trigger a migraine, but the November election could! lol....
DeleteFeel much better today....now I can get back to that pyramid workout!
Gray on gray on gray...
ReplyDeleteIt's just beautiful. When you have a passion for something it really shows!
haha...maybe that's why I loved that photo!
DeleteLove the penthouse. Leave it to the kitties to find the best spots, indoors and out. Does your arthritis react to the cold weather? I don't like those pop-up ads either.....makes my nerves act up. Lol!! I love your idea about putting winter necessities in your glove box. I tell my daughter in Colorado to make sure she has water, some kind of food and blankets in her car and extra winter clothes. She left some cola cans in the trunk once, which froze and the cans busted open. After they thawed, she had a mess..... I'm glued to the Iowa Caucus.
ReplyDeleteI just saw something on tv that warned people about leaving soda in their cars during the winter just for that reason. What a mess, I'm sure! At least it was in her trunk!
DeleteI hadn't noticed cold weather makes my arthritis worse...in fact, I feel best when it's super cold and everything is frozen! No allergies, etc. I'm not sure what triggers it...trying to pay more attention to all of that.
I change up the glove box for warm months....no chocolate in the granola bars, no lip balm to melt...but I do add bug repellent wipes and sunscreen and an extra water or two.
Hey, you're in a caucus state! Do you participate? Such a big process....we regular states don't appreciate all that work, I don't think!
DeleteI love how organized you are. I'm thinking now that I should put some of these things in my car, since I keep the roads hot. Lol!! No, I don't caucus. But I love to watch the process on tv.
DeleteIf you're out and need a piece of gum or a tissue, it does come in handy!
DeleteYes, I love to watch the process, too....and this one is especially interesting...history making
for sure.
Look at those beautiful, soft greys. Perfect spot for kitty cats.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking into a few pain management alternatives, too. Don't really want to go on stronger meds, so trying to find something else.
Can't believe the auction owners would not immediately solve that problem. ESPECIALLY when still under construction. Shows how little they value their employees.
Nice that Manu is taking over RAK. I will try and join in. I remember some of your comments from last year... not really in the spirit of how it was intended.
Warm here this week and sunny today - like spring!
I tried one prescription specifically for arthritis pain and it did nothing....it was like I didn't take anything at all! I do well on ibuprofen but have to take it every 4 hours or I can really tell when it wears off. There has to be a better way. Trying to find a way to prevent pain instead of managing it, so we will see.
DeleteYeah, the auction thing was really unfortunate. I loved so much of the job...but a few things were not tolerable any longer.
I have joint trouble in the coldest months. I hate to see what happens when I hit real, "old age". I am right there with you!
ReplyDeleteStill, I'd rather have winter. haha. Summer means aches, pains AND allergies. lol...
DeleteOh, feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteToday was a good day! :)
DeleteLots of random thoughts....
ReplyDeleteSorry you are feeling aches and pains...not nice...at all!
I hate blogs with ads....stopped visiting them!
Anything in the trash?
Enjoy your evening with Taylor...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
No trash this time! At least nothing I wanted. haha.
DeleteTaylor's come and gone...always nice to see my boy. :)
I feel the same way when my Ryan visits.....
Delete♥
DeleteYes, my dear Betsy, you are way way to young to have that kind of pain!!! Hope the new meds and alternative ways will help.
ReplyDeleteDon and I are fascinated with the political campaigns. Tonight will be interesting in Iowa. We'll pop corn and watch. HaHa
I think I'll join RAK this year. I told Manu I would. Now I better get busy and start thinking of ways to share. (besides food HaHa)
Love the kitty perch....
yes, I was just thinking that I better get busy with an RAK for this week! But food is good and always counts, doesn't it? I hope so....I might have to do that one at least once!
DeleteNo offense but you just sneaked in two commercial ads in this post..... :( advil and relief factor....at least the pop ups are up front about it
ReplyDeleteOh, give me a break. I only mentioned putting advil in my glove box. I mentioned bandaids, too...aren't you going to count those? In the comments section, I mentioned that advil doesn't do the job and that I'm seeking different options, so that certainly can't be considered an advertisement for it. And for the Relief Factor, I can't even speak to anything about it yet, much less endorse it or recommend it for anyone. No sneaking was done and I certainly wasn't compensated by any of these products.
DeleteI'm interested in the caucus too, and wondering what it will look like when it comes to Michigan.
ReplyDeleteGlad you are feeling better and that you had fun as a customer at the auction!
Well, it all ended up very interesting, didn't it? Who knows what it will look like a few months from now!
DeleteHi Betsy - sorry about the arthritis - such a nuisance for you. But am glad you're feeling easier now. The auction house seems to have an odd attitude - c'est la vie ... but am glad you collected a few things for your shop. Politics .. interesting times for us both .. cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteYes, it is a nuisance! But we'll just keep plugging along one day at a time! :)
DeleteYes, c'est la vie....too bad...and I wasn't the only one they lost!
I hope you are pain free and itstays that way with the new meds,,
ReplyDeleteI can understand completely how that low counter would cause you pain and you're right, sometimes its us that must make a change,
I have had to stop reading a few blogs because of the annoying pop ups and adverts, there is one advert on a few peoples blogs of a woman with wrinkles that I find disturbing and completely fake, I also understand their need to make money but I'm sorry, I'mm outta there because its just annoys me,, I have enough trouble reading the blogs with out all the added attractions,,No blue sky here, just snow snow and yes more snow,
Send me snow! Ours is all gone and we're getting rain tonight!
DeleteI do have ads on my blog, but nothing I consider intrusive. (No pop-ups, or ads that block my posts. And I hate videos and even playlists that play automatically!) Sometimes I wonder why I bother. (Actually, it was "suggested" to me when I first started blogging.) I've only taken in about $100... and that's in eight years!
ReplyDeleteAs far as your health woes go, I really hope you get better and stay better! You are too young to have these chronic complaints.
I don't mind ads on the sidebar, as long as they don't have audio. Lately there have been ads that completely cover the photo in the post and you have to click it to make it go away...then it jumps to the next photo! Completely insane.
DeleteYeah, been in some terrible pain lately..not just my hands anymore...my neck, back and legs! Geesh!
So sorry you have been in pain...and glad you are better today.
ReplyDeleteIt's very sad when the work place doesn't even consider their employees. As a private contractor I have worked with a few..not a pleasant enviornment for sure.
Love your "planted" Kitty.
Yes, it is sad! I was a private contractor, too! :)
DeleteI love these posts and completely forget to mention part of them. I hope the new pain meds work...I get that...this vertigo...ugh. Who knew. And the auction table...you never complain. I'm sure others have, I wish they would have fixed that. I just don't have time for ads. And I'm not that busy...blogs aren't the place for that. Love that kitty, it's raining here, but a nice change! bruce is a political guy...I get a summary from him!
ReplyDeleteI really try not to complain...I'm fairly easy going and try to be a good, valuable employee....We did put in a request several times and was told it would be done at one point...but months later we were told it wasn't going to happen (as in just deal with it) I hated to quit because I loved so much of it...but after some conversations with the mister, all the things I loved could still be enjoyed going as a customer.
DeleteIt is interesting that the ads do the opposite to readers than their intended purpose! Some of the blogs I love have increased them...and the whole blog looses it's loveliness and appeal..in my opinion.
Yep...and I feel the same way about ads.
DeleteEin schöner Platz für die Katze.
ReplyDeleteGruß
Noke
Yes, she thinks it's a nice place! haha.
DeleteHope the new meds help. I am glad you are doing your best to stay well. You just have to do that. I have turned away fro more blogs lately from the pop up ads, especially noisy ones. I can't figure out how they think folks will put up with that for long. I understand the need for
ReplyDeleteads, but there is a limit.
Well, I'm trying! Stress and arthritis is not a good combination! haha.... and the more I read the more I'm convinced that being as healthy as possible is the best thing you can do!
DeleteBetsy, thanks for telling about my RAK challenge!
ReplyDeletexox
Absolutely!
DeleteHi Betsy: It's been a while.
ReplyDeleteI'm thanking God that you are feeling better!
I'm with you about the ads. I really dislike pop-ups, and seeing ads before the post.
Good idea about the glove box.
RaK's are part of life :~D
Praying for you and the family. How are the boys?
Hi, Charlie. :) The boys are doing well.....thanks so much for asking!
DeleteWe just take it one day at a time here, you know. haha...I
appreciate your prayers!
A perfect description of yourself - normal crazy, over-achieving - made me smile.
ReplyDeletelol...especially the crazy part!
Deletei get really sore and swollen almost every morning on my wrists and knuckles. I've read that Curcumin, Antioxidents and Glucosamine are great natural ways for coping with joint pain.
ReplyDeleteDid anyone try this one? http://bit.ly/Jointlax
From my "research" (lol i just Google'd for an hour or so for best natural joint treatments etc.) this looks like one of the better ones but I'm not sure...
Thanks!
I've been taking Tumeric lately and think it's helping! No glucosamine for me...I'm allergic! :(
