In The Autism World, Lately

Alex brought home this sweet little bird house today.
Looks like an art project, so maybe two more will
be coming along before the week is out.
I rarely keep projects that are brought home.  I may enjoy
them a few days and then they get pitched.
They are usually  things like macaroni necklaces
or papers covered in glitter.  But occasionally something
comes home that I love...like this little house.
Alex has always loved the color blue.
He always chose the baby bottle with the blue cap
when he was a baby, so I know he really did
paint this and pick the color.
Looks like he's a minimalist, too! haha.

  1. Around here, we call art projects that we don't keep, Disposable Art.
    This is a keeper!

  2. Cute little bird box and well done Alex.
Hope you have a large garden for two more . . . :)
As one who makes bird boxes I appreciate the design . . . :)

    1. Oh, it's a tiny little thing....I bet three could hang in one tree.
Wouldn't that be cute? Triplet boxes.

  3. Excellent job. I love the blue, just the right amount for this house.

  4. I like this minimalist look. Well done Alex. It's definitely got a sort of something.
I tell you what. I once went to a celebrated exhibition of modern art. I was about 18 and didn't know what I was looking at or how celebrated the show would become in hindsight. But one thing I remember seeing: two glass bathroom shelves, each with a clear glass of water on. And each glass had a different amount of water in.
Well, this looks a good deal more artistic to me.

Can hang it at your feed

    1. It's usually the wasps that make homes in the bird houses
      those icky little louses. hahaha....

    1. I hope so! I'll have to hang it where I can see it from inside so I don't miss
      any activity!

  8. Looks like a nice home for a bluebird. Do Harry and Spencer have favorite colors? Looking forward to seeing what they bring home.

    1. They don't have favorite colors...just Alex! We assigned them colors to keep things orderly around here but I'm not sure they would choose them on their own!

  9. Wonder what Harrry and Spencer will bring? This is sweet and brought a wee tear to my eye. Great shade of blue.

    1. Sometimes three things come home and other times only one or two! I think they get to choose an activity and they don't all choose art every time. This time, I hope they did!

    1. Glad you didn't get blown away!
Tornadoes in SC, though...hope we hear from Laurie tonight!
We had a brief hard storm but that is it. Sideways rain, black and the lights
flickered but 10 minutes and it was all done! Now it's just raining.

    1. Yep! When spring actually arrives, I'll hang it in a tree! :)

  13. I would keep this too, Betsy. Sort of random, but I like Susie Larson on FB. I "like" her. When bird houses bring joy, her posts bring Biblical encouragement. Spring is in the air!

    1. I would never 'fix' what Alex painted. The imperfection is perfect in his world and that is what makes it wonderful.

  17. This is so wonderful!!! As for me, my daughter brought home a lovely Christmas candle we still light during Christmas Holidays; all other projects are in a box ;-)
My mum still have an atrocious small dog shaped statue I gave her when I was a child I bought during a school trip... I keep on telling her to throw it in the rubbish bin but she replies she really likes it ...hahaha

    1. It's nice to have a few memories like that! I bet your mom loves that dog statue for sentimental reasons! Aw.

    2. Betsy, that's the only reasonable reason why she loves that statue

  18. I would keep such a lovely birdie's house too! :-) I think the birds may like the natural colour on it anyway ;-) or do you plan to give it a little paint yourself? ... Imagine it will come 2x times, birdies will be happy :-) and if the other boys don't bring it back home you may want to claim it from the school! haha

    1. I like it just like it is....completely created by Alex. I wouldn't add more paint to it. I think he made it just like he wanted and that makes it special. It's snowing today, so I'll wait to hang it outside! haha.

    2. That's so sweet to hear!! I took a picture of a lovely cat today on my morning walk. And I thought of you when I saw it. The cat looked so content in the sun, all the same like many of your cats :-) it's on IG :-)

    3. I looked but didn't see it....I'll have to try again!

    4. Ok! No worries. It is funny but everytime I see a cat I think of my son (he loooves cats) and of you!! :-) have a lovely weekend!
