Around Here, Lately

  1. We've had beautiful snow lately.  One of my most favorite things is waking up and seeing trees that look like this!  A winter wonderland!  It's going to warm to the 50's in a couple of days, though, so I'll have to say goodbye for now.
  2. I've had a whirlwind of activity here the last week with auctions, a very active etsy shop,  cleaning, baking, company, snow days and a holiday.  Whew!
  3. The boys are doing well.  They've had some fun activities at their day program lately.  The occasional bump in the road comes along like Spencer having a nose bleed when its time for the bus, or Alex throwing his lunch away every day or Harry repeatedly getting into trouble for digging through the trash for any potato chips someone might have thrown out.  Sigh!  Sometimes you just have to laugh.
  4. I haven't been very chatty lately, can you tell?  So unlike me not to post daily!  Lots on my mind but hard to put into words.  Or I decide it's not of any interest, too much personal information, or a topic that will surely get me a nasty comment. haha.  The blogging world can be a rough crowd...or maybe I'm being too rough on myself.  Most times when I'm feeling down I opt for no information rather than too much. lol...
  5. I went to a Stella and Dot jewelry party last night with Lauren. Very fun...I'd never been to one before!  I ordered a pretty bracelet.  And yes, it's mostly gray.  haha.  Gray is such a sunny color, I always say. lol....
How have you been?

  1. Glad to know you've just been busy. And yes, you probably are too hard on yourself and you shouldn't be.
Look forward to seeing your new bracelet.

  2. I understand what you're saying about sometimes choosing not to write what's going on in your life..It's OK to not "put it all out there" :-)

    1. Yes, but sometimes I think if I said what was on my mind, it would be a step in healing for me. So hard to know.

    2. It IS hard. That's why you go with your gut and know there's no 'right' answer.

  3. Oh my dear Betsy....I so relate to #4, but didn't know how to put it into words. Thank you for saying what I've been feeling. Along with a little quilt, as I have posted daily for so long....just can't do it any more. Slowing down in several ways and our family is finding more time to be together...that is where I want to pitch my tent...Love you Betsy, such a sweet honest friend.

The snow is breath taking...and the boys always give me a chuckle.

    1. Well, that is interesting. We all have our burdens....you finding more family time and me craving it. haha. My heartache is the opposite of yours, I guess. How fun you are finding more time in other ways...the blog will always be there when you have something to say!

  4. Bah, let the haters hate
Serve them up on a plate
    Then let them rant away
Hit delete and go about your day
They wasted their time and you did not
You win while they can go rot
People think I'm just nuts through the cat
So anything I say works with that
    Ugg to the snow
And eww to trash chips in tow
    Germy as can be
Sure it doesn't bother him as they're free
    Hopefully life's crap goes away
It does seem to want to stay
Maybe a bigger pooper scooper is needed?
Then out the crap shall be weeded
Or thrown in a haters face
That would be a fun embrace
    Geez, made me rant away
See what happens when you don't post each day?

and you go on and on at my shack.
And I know you really are nuts
even though you pretend it's Orlin at your hut.

The snow is just beautiful! I'm not ready to see it melt!

  6. How I envy your snow! It's beautiful and I would be sad to see it go, also. Your boys make me giggle. Alex throwing his lunch away reminds me of my oldest daughter spitting out her Flintstones vitamins on the way out to school, everyday. HaHa! Hope your days get brighter!

    1. Oh, that's hilarious! We used to get Flintstones, too....hadn't thought about those in years!
Haven't figured out the lunch thing yet....he loves his food and I send his favorites! He's even
rejected the water bottle some days. He's even more stubborn than his mother, and that's saying
      something! lol....

    2. We've been jokingly calling it 'the hunger strike' but if we don't know what he's protesting,
it doesn't do any good! lol....he's a chubby guy, so a missed meal here and there won't
      hurt him. Goodness!

  7. You've been missed, well I missed you anyway. The bloggy world just doesn't seem right without you around, I'm glad you're OK, and not poorly as I thought.

  8. Aw . . . so pleased you had your favourite snow . . . nice to look out and see from your window. I do appreciate the artistry of the snowflakes and the effect the snow has . . . shame it is not a bit warmer though . . lol
Great to see you back, Betsy . . . I hope you do not get any more nasty comments . . . :)
You have been a busy bee haven't you. I have been a busy drone bee tonight because I have written up my next two posts . . . . "What!!!" did I hear you say?

You do such a marvellous job for your boys ~ a mother in a million.
Glad you enjoyed the jewellery visit with Lauren an got yourself something nice . . . :)

    1. But if it was warmer...the snow would be gone! haha. I'm sure it will be back before spring
      comes along.

      Two posts? I'm shocked...amazed....unbelieveable! lol....

    2. I am wanting to change the laws of physics so the snow will not melt when it is warmer . . . lol

      I won't post them both at once . . . lol

    3. Let me know how that physics thing works out for you. lol....

  11. Hi Betsy, beautiful picture. Love snow view as well :-) now I am looking at blooming cherry trees which feels pretty weird in mid February ... lol. I am all the same like you when things pile up and they seem too much I retrieve too. It just feels the right thing to do doesn't it? You could live in this country you know ... they get LOTS of grey here ... sky, buildings, roads ... too much for me actually ... haha!
    Wishing you a wonderful day!!

    1. At least those blooming trees will brighten up all that gray!

  12. I, as you know, am of two minds about what to share in social media. Reactions can be very anti-social.
But I think sometimes it's helpful to unload a bit, regardless the comments you might receive. Not everyone is going to like everything. And maybe it takes a bit of the weight off your shoulders and helps others at the same time.
But if it makes you at all wary, then you should just go with your gut.
I had never heard of Stella and Dot until I was given a beautiful pair of earrings for my recent birthday. I'll have to take a photo of them and send it to you.

    1. The weird thing is, my gut keeps telling me to go ahead and talk here...let it all out. I keep fighting it but actually think it would be a healthy thing for me.

    2. Then go with your gut. As I said, it might lift the load a bit. I feel you have a strong sense of self so it could be the best thing. I think the majority of your readers would be right there for you and might benefit from hearing your story. It's a doozy! We all go through stuff. Some more so than others. Smiling and thinking of you. xxoo

    3. It is a doozy, isn't it? It should be made into a movie. Nobody would believe it was true. haha.

  13. Good morning Betsy....
I know how you feel....sometimes, somethings are better kept close to the chest....
I must admit though....when I did my post about " you know who".... I did feel a lot lighter....( I think you missed that post)
I can only imagine the ups and downs from your boys...kudos to you and The Mr....
Now....about Stella and Dot....Miss V's first Christmas, my daughter gave me a silver necklace with 2 tiny pendants.....one with a "V" on it, and the other with Grandmother in different languages! I cried like a baby....love it....only take it off to clean it! I have since purchased a puffy silver heart, that I added to the chain....a birthday gift from boyfriend (that I picked out).....
    Anyway....
Have a wonderful day....do some soul searching....you will decide what is best for you, but....no one here would be unkind....♥️
    Cheers!
    Linda :o)

    1. Well, I'm sorry I missed that post! I'll check it out. I know my regulars would be totally supportive...and I do agree on the feeling lighter part.
Your necklace sounds perfect! I had a hard time picking out something..so many unique and pretty
things! I love that many of their items can be personalized.
Wear some flip flops for me today! :)

    2. Just read your post. Some people are just crazy....I don't get those comments often but when you do you just have to wonder if they don't have any decency or class. One recent one for me has a private blog themselves. I had to laugh....they'll leave a snotty comment but they themselves hide where nobody can see them. When it comes from people I don't know regularly it doesn't bother me...they are jealous and full of hate. It's the ones that I feel I know that get to me. Anyway, hope it works out for you and like you said....they must not realize that you can see them lurking. haha.

    3. Absolutely....I think it was my estranged sister...and the most hurtful part...unbenounced to me, she was staying with my brother here in Florida! Geesh! Hit me again....when I'm down! Saw it all unfold on SIL's FB.....very hurtful indeed....

  14. I'm with those who say go with your gut as to what you share with blogland. And you'll always have the last word where detractors are concerned. However, that's easy for me to say, cuz I share so little personal stuff with my own readers. Those who really care will usually support you.

  15. It sounds like Life... Sorry I haven't been commenting as much as I'd like - just a lot on - I can barely cope with posting once a week - daily ain't an option! I think you put whatever personal stuff you feel comfortable sharing with the world into a blog - so I tend not to say too much! You take care - amazing snow!!

    1. Everyone is busy, I know! It's always nice when you stop by, though. I tend not to share too much either...but that might change! lol....at least just once.

    2. Even though I follow you, I hardly ever comment. However, you thoughts spoke to me today. I was thinking this week.....it happens every February. My skin is the whitest in February than it is in any other month. It is crying out for sunshine. My hair is the worst in February than in any other month. It wants some sunshine! I have fractured five bones this past year because I need the sunshine or maybe I need something stronger. It is just that time of year. I long for summer. I have moved away from friends and family and yes, I long for them too. But, here I am. God still hears me. He still loves me. Don't believe every thought you think. (Quote from Maxine) I try to listen to Maxine.

    3. Aw, Cher! Thanks for commenting. I always love it when you do! Five bones? Goodness! You poor thing! Sounds like you need calcium and vitamin D in a bigger way than the sunshine alone! February is a hard month on a lot of people, I think. I hope even though it is winter that you will have some brilliant sunshine-y days.

I love that quote!!!! Thanks for sharing it. What a good one! I needed to hear that!
