Text Door Neighbor

Look at this text I got yesterday.
Have you heard of your 'text door neighbor'?
Actually I had not and did a little Google search to find out
that you can type your own number into your phone but go up or
down one on the last digit to reach the people
who have phone numbers who are numerically in order
on either side of you!

Did I reply?
No.
A generation ago, this probably would have been a fun,
harmless way to chat with someone you don't know.
Today, though, it seems kind of creepy.
Too bad.... they were probably fine.
But you just never know!

  2. Ooh bugger.
As if we didn't have enough Robot Calls, Spam Messages, intrusions in our life, here comes another.
I'm happy to know you didn't reply, a bit on the weird side if you ask me :)
    So what's your phone number.....lol

  3. I don't blame you. Stuff like that freaks me out. Maybe I watch too much tv.

My sister played a prank on me once where she typed my phone number in one of those sites that call people and have a person start fussing at you about something. All taped of course. Anyway, the one she pranked me with was a man calling people he had wronged to asked forgiveness. This guy was asking my forgiveness for stealing my credit card number and that if I didn't forgive him, he was going to use my personal information to buy a boat.

What made it even more scary was that my credit card info had been stolen a few months earlier. And, I just happen to be at the lake by myself that night. I slept with a knife by my bed that night.

She had no clue that I was alone or she wouldn't have pulled the prank on me. Let's just say she won't ever do that again. Lol!!

Moral of this long story, though, is just like you said, you never know.

    1. Oh, my goodness! I'd say you need to do about 10 pranks on that sister to even things out! And something more than making her look at naked toes. hahahaha.....

    10. Yep, that's appropriate pay back!
Zombie toes go on the attack!

    11. Yes, I got it at your bay
And on the floor my sister will lay
When the Zombie toes go on attack
She'll either faint or get me back.

Those are surely some nasty toes,
But for Zombies, that's the way it goes.

  5. Never heard of it before. And I sure wouldn't be responding either.
Remind me some time to tell you about Officer James Morrison...

  6. Nope, not going to do it. I have too many robot calls and telemarketers to even think about that.
This day and age it's just to scary and intrusive.

They were discussing this on a daytime TV show today and the panel agreed to shun it . . . :)

    1. And IF they are next door neighbour it is easier to call over the fence, "Hi!"

      Delete
    2. Eddie, you are so right! What happened to the "over the fence" communication?

      Delete
    3. Nobody looks over the fence! We're looking at our phones! haha.

    4. Ah . . . not literally next door. Just looked it up and I see it is one's numerical next door neighbour who can be anywhere . . . . maybe literally next door. Quite random . . . but not keen on it . . . would rather get to know bloggers and become friends . . . :)

    5. You watched a show on it today and still didn't get it? haha....you poor old man.
I even explained it in my post. It wasn't Mr. Neighbor Man texting me.
It was someone with an almost identical cell phone number.

      joined ISIS. lol....

    2. HAhaha! I just delete them...wonder where they come from?

  10. I'm still in the dark ages with a "dumb" phone. I don't get bells or whistles. HaHa. I would think if that happened it would be a little creepy. Years ago when I first started blogging, I saw at the top it said "next blog"....I hit it...and it was porno....Never done that again. Lots of creepy technical stuff out there. I will have to check out Zombie Toes. HaHa...although that sounds pretty creepy too.

    1. I just did that 'next blog' thing the other day. I hit it about 12 times and got 12 outdated blogs that hadn't been updated in a decade! It was like the blog cemetery! hahaha...

    2. Wanda I bet you can text on your phone...it's not a newfangled thing. It would be a fun way to keep in touch with the grandkids.

  11. Never even knew it was a thing
I'd not give them a return ring
The last thing you need is a text door stalker
Or someone who never shuts up and is just a talker

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. The word stalker did come to mind
as he would keep doing the texting crime.
Or some how figure out where I live...
a chill that would really give!

  12. Wow! Strange! Nope no reply from me either!

    1. Yeah, I had to laugh and wonder who would actually reply.

  13. It was me!!! :-)) Noooooo!! Just kidding. Find it creepy myself .... But at least the phone neighbour managed one thing ... to get famous on your blog! :-))

    1. hahaha.....well, you should have identified yourself! lol....I would have replied back
      to you, of course!

  14. Lmao!!!! I never heard of this either!! I probably would have replied out of curiosity. I mean, your text door neighbor could be in China! (Well, probably not considering the area code.. )

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well, not really. The area code and the next three digits are in your area. I looked up the number and those six digits are people right in my area! Too close if it was a creep!

  18. Hello? Seriously, what will people come up with next to create someone to talk to. Maybe I'm being ridiculous, but sometimes I think we've totally lost the art of face to face conversation. (She wrote in response to a blog post.) Haha

    1. Well, this could have turned into a face to face, eventually. haha...
