"A little voice inside my head said,
Don't look back. You can never look back."
Boys of Summer
Don Henley
I love this shot I got of my little squirrel, airborne on the roof.
He's a fiesty little thing and makes me laugh.
And today, he reminds me of me...running away
and never looking back.
I quit my auction job today.
It's all good! Needed to be done.
I already have plans to attend the auctions as a
bidder with one of my coworkers (who also quit!)
and continue our online businesses.
All the fun without the work.
Unless we bid against each other! lol....
You just need to do what's best for you, right?
And this is best...and right!
♥
One of my favourite songs! And a great shot.
ReplyDeleteYes of course I know that VS is a US company. But in the early 90s I bought some brilliant bras from "Victorias Secret of London" when
I was in Buffalo. Could I get more in London? Nope. No branches in the UK. We have branches in the UK now but natch they no longer make that wonderful design of bra. Typical.
No, you could not get more London! :)
DeleteShame about the great bra though. It had wonderfully broad satin straps.
DeleteThat squirrel is going bounce bounce bounce isn't it?
lol....bounce, bounce? Speaking of bras....lol...
DeleteYes... one reason I could never fancy running or jogging. New ketchup crispy snack coming soon.
DeleteI'm totally with you on the jogging! haha....def not for my body. The satin straps on that one sound wonderful. Too bad they don't bring the style back! I'd buy one!
DeleteI need to look for a ketchup chip for my Alex...haven't seen them here, though!
right, sounds good to me,,
ReplyDeleteme, too! :)
DeleteNew year... new decisions! Good for you! And like the squirrel, run like crazy and don't look back!
ReplyDeleteSuch good advise, you wise man. :)
DeleteFreedom! Fabulous airborne shot. Now we just need one of YOU airborne! Hee hee...
ReplyDeleteI'll see what I can do about that. hahaha....
DeleteLess pressure, more fun.
ReplyDeleteNever look back.
Love the action shot. I must learn to capture action without the blur.
:0)
Put your camera setting on action shot. It's usually a little stick man running!
DeleteYes, I can do that. (If I remember.)
Delete:0)
New changes in the new year. If it is time, and it sounds so, then woohoo and forward you go. Good luck with your new endeavors. Love your little squirrel. Taria
ReplyDeleteSome changes were underfoot that didn't settle well with any of us. Some requests were turned down and there would have eventually been some workman comp claims because of it. lol..... In the end several of us left. I don't think anyone is regretting it. It will all work out for the better.
DeleteShocked at first, then read a little more and became very happy!
ReplyDeleteWell done!
Don't forget to wear your cute boots when out buying!
DeleteYeah, I did love my job for the most part. But going as a bidder
Deletestill lets me enjoy most of those things. Sometimes your world has to shake
before you realize how much you are appreciated...or not. In the end
it is all good.
You sound relieved. Good for you.
ReplyDeleteyeah, that's one of the many emotions I'm feeling.
DeleteI love auctions. Hubby and I go and we sell things on Ebay. Don't make a lot but it's a great way to get and education about so many different things by doing research on what you thought was so cool you just had to buy it. Have fun with it! Sometimes we lose everything on an item and actually pay someone to take it away in the end because we can't sell it even to make back what we paid for it, but other times we make out like bandits. It's great! Lots of luck!
ReplyDeleteWell, good for you. I do the same but sell in my etsy store.
DeleteSome things I put on ebay, but not many. It's an adventure,
isn't it? And you learn a lot!
Marvellous picture of Cyril the Squirrel, were the cats after him?
ReplyDeleteSo you've given up plodding around rain sodden-muddy fields in your pink wellies have you? I thought you enjoyed that sort of pastime!
DeleteYes, Marmalade was after him. But he provoked it! So fun. He is a brave little thing!
DeleteI did enjoy it as part of the whole package. But I don't think I'll miss the horrid weather
when the auctions are outside! I have enough crazy stories to last.
I think he will soon be an ex-squirrel. Shame.
DeleteHe is much too quick in the trees than the cats..although they do try!
DeleteHe's a brave soul your Superman squirrel, ours stay at bay :)
ReplyDeleteYou'll have more time to buy at the auction now, so surely that's a good thing...lol
~Jo
Yes, much more time! My friend and I will certainly enjoy ourselves.
DeleteHours won't be as long, either.
Ah so this is the result of the soul searching you referred to earlier in the week. Sounds like you are confident in your decision so I'm sure it is for the best.
ReplyDeleteone of the searchings going on.....haha.
DeleteQuite a take off . . . and well captured.
ReplyDeleteIt is a surprise about the auction job ending . . .
Good wishes for the bidding and the business . . I know you will make a great success of it . . :)
Yeah, a surprise to me, too. The etsy store will continue on...I do enjoy that a lot!
DeleteBet you can't jump like the squirrel . . . lol
DeleteEddie - That I gotta see!
DeleteI bet I can jump higher than you!...either of you!
DeleteGood for you for moving on in 2016 with a bold new plan, job wise. Your squirrel who looks like he is flying, is a good role model for us.
ReplyDeletehe does look like he's flying! So cute!
Deletehaha look at him go
ReplyDeleteflying to and fro
Or just flying away
Like you at your bay
Let the online grow
More hermit time at your show
Maybe you'll have barbie guy to bid against for something
Can't upset the barbie king
Have to know when to leave, you know
Deletewhen things aren't right and bad things grow!
Leave yourself a little dignity
so you can still fly when you flee!
haha.
Happy for you Betsy! Have fun being on the other side of auctions now:) Ohh..can hardly wait to see what you bid on and what you buy!
ReplyDeleteIt will be fun! All the fun and none of the work,...and friends to do it with, too!
DeleteYea for changes!
ReplyDeleteI'm not really big on changes...haha...it's stressful!
DeleteBut after some of them are done, you can see it's a good thing.
It almost sounds like it comes from "Proverbs" HaHa. Very good advice, and how exciting to begin a new year with some things gone...and never look back, and new things in the future.
ReplyDeleteThat airborne shot is just out of this world. Love the white on his tail.
Exactly...good words to remember. We are moving forward, not backward!
DeleteEven good things can end up souring and you might not want to change at first
but then you can see how much better then future will be if you
take that first step! Makes you laugh at
how you dug in your heels at first. lol...
I have more to share about that squirrel...He's really a character!
Good for you for doing what was right! When those times come....you just know. That was a great capture of your squirrel...it reminds me of the ones that run across the beach house. They sound like a herd of cows running around up there. Their favorite hickory nut tree is at the corner of the porch, so they are in and out of it. Lol!
ReplyDeleteThere's been galloping on our roof, too...but it's one squirrel and several cats! haha...hilarious!
DeleteGlad you did it, if it needed to be done. Those kind of things can be hard, but it sounds like you are having no regrets, so hooray for you!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Yeah, they are hard because you want to hold on to the best things about it, but then
Deletewhen things become clear you see the balance is leaning you to do something else.
Today was a huge confirmation that I made the right decision. Kind of a hard lesson,
but it's all good now! Whew! I'm not really big on huge life changes. haha. Let me re-
arrange furniture or some other little change and I'm ok with that. lol...
Lol, what a great picture of Cyril, the squirrel! It looks like he got frightened, maybe one of the cats was after him? He sure is fun! :-)
ReplyDeleteGood for you that you quit when you felt things were not right. I find the hardest is often to even take that right decision. Once you do it is a great feeling though isn't it?
Yes, it is hard! Ugh! But afterward you know it was right.
DeleteCyril was running from Marmalade! haha.
Hi Betsy - sounds good to me .. good luck with the new ventures and ideas. Little squirrel running - what fun ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteHe is fun....and I'm lucky to have him acting up right outside my window so I don't miss a thing! haha.
DeleteAwesome shot!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Andy! Got lucky on that one!
DeleteCongratulations on making your decision about the auction job. Don't forget to update your sidebar. Ha.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of the squirrel, too... as usual.
Ah, "Boys of Summer." I used to be able to hit all of those notes!
love that song... :)
DeleteY'all are going to be seeing a lot of that squirrel. haha.
I love squirrels and the shot is lovely!! They are naugthy.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for this year dear Betsy, with yours kids and hubby and cats lol
Love your job I find it so fun!!
xoxox
Well, they certainly are naughty. Fortunately this one hasn't
Deletecaused any trouble yet. haha.
This is a surprise, Betsy....good for you....enjoy!
ReplyDeleteNo more trash!
Have a great weekend....soggy here :o(
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Oh, there will still be trash! haha.
DeleteThat's one of the fun things I'm not giving up.
Soggy here, too...damp and chilly.
Can anyone take the trash?
DeleteDo I need to do anything with my blog to go with the blogger changes coming up?
I thought you were a good one to ask....
Blogger changes? Oooh...didn't know there were any!
DeleteSomething about the Google+ profile or something....
DeleteHmm...well, I wouldn't do anything. Remember when they said they were going to do away with the follower's list? Lots of bloggers deleted all their followers on their sidebar and then they didn't do it! Then they said the reader's list would go and people switched to other things like bloglovin, etc and we can still use our lists on our sidebars! I'd just wait and see.
DeleteOkey dokey....thanks!
DeleteI just caught a bird landing and wasn't planning on it. Your squirrel shot is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWell, that's great...did you post it?
DeleteIt is all good!
