Push Ups

If workouts were among your 2016 Resolutions,
you're not alone!  Even my squirrel is getting into the act!
Could he get any cuter?
How are you coming along with the exercise?
My muscles are sore....some in places I didn't know existed.
haha...

    2. Just watched the pyramid workout. Holy Hannah, that's hard. I admire you!
I can't do any of that kind of exercise due to my bum hip and back, but I'm investigating chair yoga and aquatics.

    3. Well, now you know why I'm sore. hahaha....
I've heard of chair yoga....what a great idea!

  2. If we all were to have to look hard for the food (instead of driving in our cars to the store) we would get the necessary exercise :-) I am always amazed when I do new yoga asanas or even those that I did not do in a looooong time how many muscles are there in the body, they sure do let me know I have been neglecting them but in a kind of a 'sick' way I do enjoy these 'pains' because I know I did dig a bit deeper :-)
Apart my love for yoga I started to do power hoop - so much fun! :-) I spin it for abt 15 mins and it does feel great too :-) what do you do? I was thinking of you about the beauty/healthy post you mentioned to do again :-) I love your inspiring posts, well I love all of them really :-)

    1. I became very last over the last few months, so getting back into the routine has been noticeable, to say the least. haha. And I know what you mean about feeling good and sore at the same time. It is a good feeling....tells you that you're doing something right and before long you are stronger and more flexible and it doesn't hurt any longer! I lift weights and do some stretches...nothing too serious. Have you heard of the pyramid workout? I started that this week.

I was just thinking about that new series I started....the holidays threw me off of that. Second post should be coming along some time this month. :)

Going to find out what a power hoop is!

    4. Super cool! I like it takes 10 mins, my schedule is busy but I sure can fit 10-15 mins here and there :-) when I did google it I came across Arnold Schwarzeneger pyramid and I was thinking 'wow Betsy is pretty serious about this' .... lol .... not that Jenna's pyramid is any less challenging !!! .... and the lean body as a result may be more appealing then the Hercules one ... haha

      Delete
    5. haha...No, no....not Arnold! lol!!!! I love how this is quick and hits all your muscles so you're toned and boost your metabolism, too. I'm hoping by the end of next week I can get through it without dying. haha....

    6. Yes, as I read it it sounded pretty exhausting :-)) I think the first week must be the hardest, you are on the right path! :-) next weeks will be easy I am sure :-)
Good night Betsy! Time to get my skin some well needed sleep. I started to drink a detox tea and I look like I have chicken pox again so hoping the sleep will help at least a bit ... haha

    7. Good night and sweet dreams! Rest that skin! haha.

as you go on the workout attack.
Since we can't find that fountain of youth
I have to jump in the workout booth.
      hahaha...

    2. haha the fountain or gold
Would be fun to find and take hold

    3. It's better, though, to be in shape
and maybe eat a lot of grapes.
That way if the leprechaun is guarding the gold
and we finally the pot get to behold
we can outrun that little guy
      even if he's very spry
if by chance he tries to steal away
lugging the gold as he makes his getaway.
      hahaha...

      Delete
    4. haha that is a good motivator to say in shape indeed
Now the gold just needs to show at our feed

  5. Aw, cute. Maybe if we had to leap about gathering our food we'd all be a bit leaner. I've started Tai Chi. It feels gentle at the time but afterwards I can feel leg muscles I didn't know I had. I'm hoping to get a bit more supple and improve my balance, which is poor.

    1. Oooh, I bet that would do it! I love how good you feel right after a workout. But a few days later you are reminded that you aren't in good shape yet! haha.

  9. My 2016 New Year's resolution carried over from last year. I've already walked 12 miles today and 45 since Sunday. Exercise and eating right are definitely the keys to weight loss. I started my diet 12/26/14 and I'm down 76 pounds since then. It gets easier once you get through the beginning aches and pains! lol.

    1. Wow...that's awesome! Good for you! My 2013 resolution was to drink 8 glasses of water a day and I've kept that up....it's part of my life now. I can't believe what a difference it has made in how I feel and how I look.

      Delete
    2. You're better than I am, Betsy! It takes all I have to get those 8 glasses of water down each day. In fact, most times I'm not successful in doing it. I should be as committed to it as you are!

      Delete
    3. For some reason it wasn't hard once I saw the results. People asked if I had lost weight...I guess was retaining water and didn't even know it. My watch was loose on my wrist...my face thinner...it was great motivation to keep at it. I know a lot of people struggle with it. Make sure it's filtered water...like from a Brita or some other filter. It's so much better than bottled, which I don't really care for.

  10. Oh my goodness, I'm just smiling from ear to ear!!! What a darling shot, and how cute we get to watch him do push ups. HaHa. I guess he thinks he can work off whatever he eats...

I'm getting a slow start. I am drinking more water, and trying to walk more....but walking into the kitchen doesn't help.

Good for you doing your exercises.

    1. Exercising is not in my nature. haha. I'd rather just stay busy and moving instead...and that works for the most part...unless my sweet tooth takes over for weeks on end! LOL....

  11. I really think they are cute...I just hate when they empty the feeders in 5 minutes!
I see you are making burgers.....on my way!
    Enjoy your evening....

    1. These feeders have prevented that! I love them. Got them at Walmart....they can't dump it or fill their cheeks and run. They have to eat them one at a time....birds, too! I hate it when the birds scatter the seed on the ground! haha.

      Delete
    2. The feeder? No, I think it was $15-$17. It does such a good job I bought a second one a while later. I had a raccoon that was dumping full feeders on the ground each night...this finally stopped him!

      Delete
    3. I have one that grabs the suet cage and runs. I'll find the empty cage a distance from the feeders. Since I started making it with peanut butter it is just too much of a temptation, I guess. We have a family of four squirrels living in our maple ( were born there). But, still have lots of birds eating, too. Yesterday counted 26 mourning doves along with a variety of others. I'll look for one of those feeders.

      Delete
    4. Oh, that's funny...when you see the overly fat squirrel, you'll know it's him!

26 doves? haha.....sounds like my sparrows! I only have one dove this winter!

  12. boy, more power to you. Love your squirrel.
My spirit is so willing but my flesh is weak. If I would stop the exercise of putting my hand to my mouth it would help a lot.

All this talk about being healthy and exercising, and I've just eaten fried potatoes, fried eggs, country sausage gravy and maple sausages....
It'll take me until June to start working it off !
Your squirrel friend is quite the character, how does he ever make it around all those cats...

  15. I think everyone should have to work out in order to eat.

Cool that you are still drinking 8 glasses of water each day. I don't count, but guess that I drink about that amount each day as well.

That 10 minute pyramid workout looks great. I don't have time to do a long workout on most days but maybe I can try working in a 10-minute routine after dinner. I think you should post videos of yourself doing each routine like Jenna did so we can see how it is done. Or maybe gifs, at least. :)

    1. Well now, you might have the key to success there....no eating allowed until you've done your workout! hahaha....
