    1. I don't know why it sends repeat posts sometimes. Yes and I do double love birds. Maybe I will quadruple that now:)

    1. I have a much better variety than last year!
Still the sparrows outnumber them all.
I have about 12 robins, now...eating crab apples! haha.

  7. Cutie! I remember that name from the birdie quiz you gave us a while back. Had never heard of them before.

    1. I think many people think they are goldfinches since they look so similar!
I think it's the yellow that makes us love them....a nice change from the
      common yard birds!

  8. Betsy, beautiful shot as always.
My and my daughter were wondering if also this year, you're going to organise RAK?
    It would be nice.
    Have a lovely day.

    1. I hadn't planned on doing the RAK this year, no. It was fun, though,
      wasn't it?

    2. Yes, it was really fun... sorry for that :-(

    4. Not at all! Please do and I'll join in!

  9. Yes, they do look similar to goldfinches. These and the cedar waxwings give a lovely variety to ones that are your regulars.

    1. So true....and the bluejays. We've had quite a few this year. Anything with a bit of color really
stands out in the bare trees!

  10. Awww so beautiful!!! I love birdies so much! You get lots of different species there ... Do you still have some snow? Everything has melted down here, we have about 10C, the snowdrops are coming out, there are buds on the trees ... I think spring is here this year ...

    1. Our snow melted! But it's still very cold and windy. Can't believe you have snowdrops and budding trees...amazing! That won't happen here until April!

    2. I have snowdrops flowering and the lilac bushes are in bud in little old England, in spite of the cold winds you sent us from across the pond.

and also while hiding in the bushes below.
      Cats don't miss a thing
      that the birdies bring!

    3. Yeah, I'm ok.
My arthritis has just been in the way.
And busy with my etsy store
as I have been listing new things galore.
But thank you for missing me
and asking if I was okie dokie. haha.

    4. I always check the sidebar and figure if you are updating that then you must still be alive! Popped into the shop briefly - lots of lovely new items. Or maybe I should say old items. :-)

  13. Betsy, I just noticed the trouble y have with Alex and his lip ... did you try to put on it coconut oil for the night? it always works on Steve and even if he licks it it is not a problem .... several applications needed though .... Good luck!

    1. Yes, I've tried coconut oil! He still had trouble and I changed to Neova lip balm which usually does very well. I actually had to go to Olay Facial Oil and an antibiotic ointment to get a grip on it! He's so much better now. It helped to sneak in at night and coat his chin and lips while he was asleep and wouldn't rub it off! haha.

  14. We do not have this kind of bird in our state. It must be a great lakes region kind of bird. I will look it up. I may have seen them in Minnesota when I use to visit there. It is a sweet bird and good shot, by the way.

    1. It's a very sweet little bird! I love seeing them! They look a bit like a female
      goldfinch...so pretty.

  15. You have such a great variety of birds visiting you. Here I only see rooks, crows and sparrows now. The trouble is there are too many cats and people with airguns around me. I hasten to add that Dinky spends most of her time indoors and is too well fed to bother to go hunting. To put out bird feeders is just tantamount to inviting them to an early death. Pity!

    1. Well, we have a few hunters even though they are well fed indoors! Shadow is especially
ruthless and lies in wait for them. I moved the feeders higher in the trees because he could
leap so high and catch them mid air. Amazing.

  16. What a sweet little guy. I don't think we have this bird around Sacramento either.

    1. They must be a midwestern bird...I didn't realize that!

  17. I love those little birds...I used to think they were pale gold finches...that never made sense. Such a needed splash of color!

    1. I thought the same and wondered why the goldfinches were still around during the winter. haha.

  18. Ever since watching The Birds as a kid, I've always disliked them. But that one is really stinking cute!!! You just want to dab it in make up and apply to your face!!!! (Ok that was really weird but you get what I mean. I hope!)

  22. For me, the dampness really aggravates things. I used to smile at my elders who could predict the weather with their joints. Now I'm one of them! Hope you feel less achy soon.
I'm sure crafting some of your shop items doesn't help the pain but it would be hard to give that up as I know you enjoy it.

    1. I'm not sure what it is but I've been achy like I got hit by a truck....every part of my body.
Goodness! I do better if I'm up and moving...sitting at my desk or laying around just makes it
worse! I'd do better if the temps dropped really low again I think!
