It's Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas!

...Although, this is as far as I've gotten!
I haven't even pulled out the decorations yet
and there are velvet pumpkins on the foyer table.
haha....I have tomorrow blocked off the calendar
for playing Christmas elf and making the house
look festive.  I'm going for simple...tree, foyer table,
wreath on the front door, and a centerpiece on the
dining room table.  The tree only has lights on it so
far and I'm seriously thinking about keeping it just
like that....but we'll have to see.  I might take one look
at my glass bird ornaments and feel the need to
get them out. haha.   But somehow, less seems to be
more these days and yet it can make a bigger statement
than all the little things of clutter.

  1. I like simple! Very much! However our 8y/o loves all the stuff we can get and so it is rather too much (at least for me) then less here. But seeing his shining eyes makes me forget I like simplicity :-) your tree is gorgeous!

    1. I totally understand that....it really is about the kids, isn't it? Seeing them enjoy it all is the very best!

  2. I love decorating the tree way too much to not pull out the ornaments. Although I do have to admit that it does look fabulous with those lights! Is it a real tree?

    1. No, it isn't real.....and I totally see your point. I've never left it plain, although it's lovely just like it is.
We'll see how I do when I open up the boxes of decor. haha....

    1. Yes, I have to laugh how back in the 90's we all did everything overboard, in Martha Stewart style. Every inch
screamed Christmas and it took hours to put up and take down. lol...

    2. That's the thing, isn't it? The taking down. I remember it seemed to take forever at our family home. And after having real trees for years, my parents eventually bought an artificial one. And those original models would take FOREVER to put together. Everything had numbers and letters and slots and slits... oh my. It's a wonder the thing ever got decorated!

    3. That is SO true. I think it's cyclical....clutter was in...then simplicity is in....later clutter will come back. haha.

  4. Your tree is beautiful !
I've been turning our tree lights on early morning until bed time, I think once the tree is glowing it makes the remainder of the decorating easier, as if it sets the mood...
Simple is hard to do at Christmas, but we try :)

Yes, it does set the mood....I'm looking forward to finishing up tomorrow!

  5. Oh boy. I can't believe I have my decorations up before an American!!
I have my tree built and decorated (4 sets of lights - 2 x white (1 warm, 1 not), 1 x pink, 1 x purple) and the pearl lights and the mistletoe lights with the tree in the dining room, the multi crystal lights in the sitting room, and the cookie cutter lights in the kitchen. That's not counting the fairy lights we have up all year round (on timers).
    All ready for the funeral.
The tree lights won't be switched off until 6th Jan. 2016. Wow. Do you remember when we all wondered if we would live until the millennium? Here we are and it' shearling 2016.

    2. haha...oh, you probably always get them up before most of us, don't you? We have to get through Thanksgiving with it's oranges and browns and that was just last week. Your lights and pretties sound lovely! I think the lights are my favorite.

Glad you're ready for the funeral. Did you say it was the 5th? I'll be thinking of you.

Yes, 2016 sounds incredible....especially if you were born in the 60's. haha.

    3. No. It is today. First I get my hair cut. And about time too. Then on with the black frock (I happen to have one) and off we go. Still no idea how many people are coming! Or who. ..

    4. Isn't it nice when you already have the appropriate outfit and aren't forced to shop with a deadline?
Those times, it seems, you can never find exactly what you want!
I hope the day goes well, all things considered. Hugs...

All cheery and light up for Santa to do his biz
Plus no ornaments will get broken
As the kitties go a tree pokin' lol

    1. The kitties manage to break some every year
as they play at night, full of cheer.
Doesn't matter if you hang them up high..
they'll just climb up the trunk, easy as pie.
      haha.

    2. haha have they knocked the whole tree down yet?
Then they can tie cassie and this pet

    3. We've had a tree fall over before
but can't blame a cat for that score.
      Surprised it hasn't happened, though
as up the branches they go!

  8. I really like that look with your tree! And all the white lights just seem to accent the room too. I've started putting ours up today as well. But it's never simple... we have 50 years of ornaments and keepsakes to cover that tree!

    1. Well, we have 32 years of ornaments and keepsakes....but I think they are staying in the boxes!

  9. Well, we had our first Christmas Card arrive this morning and it looks lovely up on the shelf waiting for some more to arrive.
Haven't got any decorations out yet ... maybe I should.

    Happy December Wishes

    All the best Jan

  10. I think your tree looks great the way it is. It seems you can't see many of the ornaments when the lights are on anyway. I'm forced to go simple this Christmas....I'm having the whole house painted and they think it's going to take a week to finish. No need to put up a tree and decorations, just to have to take them down for the painters. And, we are spending Christmas with my youngest daughter in Colorado this year. That really only leaves a couple of weeks to enjoy decorations. I think, like you, I'll put up the tree, a wreath and dining table arrangement. And then a few Santas and snowmen scattered about, if that. Happy 2nd day of December.

    1. I hear you....no sense in doing a bunch of stuff that would be in the way of the painters! And how fun to
go to Colorado for Christmas! They are already buried in snow, aren't they?
Last year I really paired down the decor and I really liked the results...and it's easier
to keep the place clean and dusted, too.

    2. Not buried in snow.....at least where Whitney lives, but they have had snow 2 or 3 times in the last couple of weeks already. She sent me a video of her cat walking on the balcony in the snow....the silly cat thought something was in the footprints she made and was pawing in them like she was looking for a creature. HaHa!

    3. ha...oh, how cute. Our cats love snow....chasing those flakes is a great game!

  11. It's beautiful! Do you remember the Christmas tree in "A Charlie Brown Christmas"? The little tree with one red ornament ball? I have one of those. ha ha. Growing up, I always had an artificial tree (because of my allergies) and it was always decorated beyond belief. I agree, though, simple can be prettier! On another note (as you mentioned to Georgina) - 2016 does seem unreal - esp. since we were born back in the 60's. Time definitely flies by!

    1. Oh and, by the way, I had snow here today and it stuck around for quite awhile!

    2. As you get older, the time flies by much quicker. I was born 1937, and throughout the war years (1939 - 1945) Christmas was put on hold for we children! So no decorations were available, no trees, all materials used to make them were used for the war effort.

For me 2015 has just flashed by.

    3. I appreciate your words of wisdom! 1937, huh? You're the same age as my mom. I bet you could tell me great stories, too!

Enjoy your meal with the big kids...

  17. I have already decorated my tree too!!!!Actually I don't like Christmas, well I don't like the crazy rush to buy gift, people everywere, the frenzy.
Thta's way I've already wrapped all my gifts and everything seems to be under my control :-)

    1. So smart of you! The frenzy is crazy isn't it? It takes the enjoyment out of it.
I really try to keep control of the month as much as possible. Not procrastinating

  20. Looks pretty to me- I like simple. Today I am pulling out the Christmas village...but other than that, I think I am done. I was ready way too early for Halloween, so I am trying to take my time with Christmas. It is my very favorite season!
