Random Thoughts

Star

  1. Today marks 6 months since Star came to us!  She is a remarkable rescue kitty story.  She doesn't look as beautiful and healthy as our other cats yet but she is still making progress and looks immensely better than she did!
  2. We have had a wonderfully lazy holiday!  Some of the guys had a cold so it was good they were able to flop at home and do nothing.
  3. You know how you sleep awful when your spouse is sick...you wake up with every toss and turn, every cough, every sniff?  Yeah, that.
  4. Tomorrow starts a crazy time of year with my biggest gift basket order of the year, the etsy shop in full Black Friday swing and a calendar full of dinners, parties, concerts, our anniversary, auctions, shopping, wrapping, .....just like all of you, I'm sure!  I made out the full calendar today, planned some party menus and tried to schedule everything so I could do things orderly and not in a last minute panic.  I don't mind busy if I still feel in control. haha.
  5. We put our tree up yesterday.  The boys immediately thought we were opening gifts and searched every nook, cranny, drawer, closet and cupboard for wrapped presents!  It's going to be a long month. haha.  I love the look of presents under the tree all month but we can't do that..they would be ripped open in a nano-second!
  6. I've eaten pie for breakfast the last few days, among other fattening snacks and meals.  I'm actually looking forward to my usual granola bar for breakfast and my yogurt and fruit for lunch on Monday! lol....

  3. Hi Betsy - the 'holiday' sounds something you all needed to recover from those colds - just not nice at all! Star - it's great to see her and so pleased she's slowly and steadily improving. Well done on making lists and as you say busy, but organised is the best way to be ...

The boys and their goodies ... you'd better start digging that cellar! I guess the Mister keeps them safely away from the house? ... enjoy a degree of normality this week ... and happy Christmas working and organising those baskets - they do look wonderful. Cheers Hilary

I am like you I do not mind busy as long as I still have control and a little break here and there to sip my tea or coffee and to check your blog ;-). It does feel great to eat light after heavy meals. I din't like the feeling of heavy stomac yikes! Hope you guys will be on the mend soon. Wishing you a lovely week despite the busy plans! 1. Glad the boyfriend is on the mend. All the guys are
better except the mister....he got a cough that nobody
else had. Most annoying..to him especially, I'm sure. ha.

  6. The Mister might want to try a remedy that is supposed to "stop coughing 100% of the time in children and adults." Before bed, have him rub Vicks VapoRub on the soles of his feet, put on socks, and supposedly it quells coughing. I remember Mom put it on our chests as kids, but this is supposed to work wonders. I often get a doozy of a cough so I will be trying it next time.

  10. I love that little cat.
I have been down with a bad sore throat and illness probably caught from little Peter. On Friday he was sick all over me (and him) and I had to carry him to the sink. . . . lol Boy did he and I take some clearing up . . . :)
Might let little Peter help me put the tree up on Thursday . . . he helped with his at home. He loved doing it.
Glad you had a bit of a rest and hope the boys get better soon . . . :)

  12. It is all of our jobs to look out for God's creatures. Star is such a wonderful success story. She is so fortunate to be directed towards the catlady's door. Knowing that she is healing and safe makes the job so satisfying.

    1. Yes, she is....I actually marvel that she was still alive, although barely, when that lady got her. It was just a wonderful serendipity kind of thing that she happened to knock on my door and ask if I'd like a cat. haha. She called not long ago to see how Star was. It was a win/win for everyone.

  13. Ummm, what did you do, hide? Haha! Don't know how I missed this post. I do the same as you with my calendar. I have an Erin Condren Life Planner that I use every single day. I love that thing! That's too funny about the boys ripping into the presents. My girls tried to open their gifts and then tape them back up, so I wouldn't notice. One year, on their name tags I wrote To Snoopy and To Sneaky so they wouldn't know which gift belong to them. Ha! It worked that year.

    1. What a cute trick! But that wouldn't work for my guys...they just rip ALL of them open....no matter who's name is on it! haha.

  16. Miss Star looks like a star for sure, she looks so happy and cozy, kudos to you for loving and taking such good care of her..Happy Hanukkah at sundown today, nothing special in our home, made a huge pot of soup and the latke making awaits me, I do it on a small scale for sure only the hubs and me..Our kitteh cats love being inside almost all the time now, don't like the vacuum sounds and the sounds of the makings of anykind of food, but sleep and rest, one goes out Mr. Miyagi to do his business but since it has rained like Noah's flood recently he uses a little box and sleeps and sleeps..Happy Holidays and keep smiling, love your blog. God's blessings always!
