This And That

  1. Packages on the porch this morning waiting for the mail lady. Business has been hopping...so thankful and so fun!  Slate always helps send the boys out the door and then get the boxes out!
  2. African Daisies.  New to me and so pretty!
  3. Chilly this morning..only 42 degrees!  That's only 10 degrees warmer than snow!  Geesh.  But if you wear a fur coat, it's still good weather for napping on the porch swing!
  4. Star improves every day!  She's curious, quiet and sweet.  She hopped up on the bathroom counter this morning and landed with a back leg straight into my coffee cup.  I'm sure it was hot enough to hurt...I had just poured it.  She hissed but seems to be ok.  I assured her it wasn't my fault! ha.  She seems to be smitten with Slate.  I don't blame her a bit.  I found her napping on the couch near him this afternoon. She's purring now, too!
  5. Breakfast.  I commented to The Mister that even though this is supposed to be a terrible year for pollen, my allergies have never been better.  He mentioned that he just read about allergy sufferers getting relief by eating yogurt every day.  I started doing that about 6 months ago.  How about that?
  6. I thought this was a cool addition to my shop.  It's a page from a ladies French fashion magazine, Les Modes Parisiennes, November 1877.  Pages were engraved and printed back then...and hand tinted.  Very neat.
  7. Ground cover in the back yard.
  8. Tomatoes, although I'm sure they are shivering today!

  2. Oh, to be a kitty on a swing! Now that's interesting about the yoghurt because mine aren't as bad and I have been eating it daily since last fall. Cool!
Ouch to Star... I am glad she and Slate are pals and he looks like a good morning helper.
By the way, I have been hemming and hawing about the print. It's lovely.

    1. Isn't that interesting? That really must be it because usually I'm miserable in the spring with itchy eyes. I still have a runny nose but the itching is just not there this year! yay!

    1. If it was McDonalds she might have sued
with a burn from the coffee I brewed!
But she seems to be alright
even though I'm sure it caused a fright!

    3. Maybe after all she's been through
she didn't think it was too rude.
Except for the hiss she took it in stride
and later was trotting along at my side.
Hard to get used to her grumpy face
I don't have any of those here at my place!

  4. I like your peaceful photos. I know full well they don't tell your entire story, but they do give me a glimpse into your heart.
I take pictures of children, when they're around, and you take photos of cats and birds.
Thank you for a glimpse into the tranquility that can be ours if we will but seek it out in the midst of this crazy thing we call life.

    1. Well, I cheated and bought a huge plant with fruit already on it! haha. It's too cold here....the rest of the blossoms won't come on until August I bet.

Glad Star is doing well, and that she found a friend in Slate.
I keep reading that about allergies too, and mine have also been better than ever. I eat some yogurt, but not daily. Whatever is helping, I'm happy!

    1. I do show my appreciation...even though it is her job. It's probably time to surprise her with another treat, too!
I'm happy about my allergies, too! Usually my eyes are too bad to wear my contacts many days during the spring!

  10. Star is acclimating so well and so fast. She's finally found her forever home. Wonder how old she is. Slate is such a good all around boy, isn't he? So glad Star has picked out the best buddy. Lynne in NC

    1. She's really doing well and looks a tiny bit better every day. She trots from room to room and let out her first meow this morning.
Slate is amazing...he's one of those once in a lifetime cats. :)

    2. I think she might be older....at least her teeth look old to me. It's hard to tell in her condition!

    3. I kind of got that impression from the area around her nose. It looks kind of worn. Of course, as you say, it could be the life she's led. Maybe a better question is how many of her 9 lives she has left. :-)

    4. Her face is looking better. She lets me wipe her eyes a few times a day. I think she just has those teary Persian cat eyes that need to be cleaned. Thankfully she has black fur so they don't stain her face. That, along with whatever infection she had, irritated her face and I think she'd rubbed a lot of her fur off there. Also she hasn't pulled any of her fur out on her legs since Saturday, so that's a good sign she's feeling comfortable. :)
