Around Here, Lately

  1. Captain Socks.
  2. My new friend, Mr. Toad.  Marmalade was posing with him outside on the back porch and I thought it was a huge, dead mouse.  But it was this large toad, totally unharmed!  I moved him to the window well on the other side of the house where toads have lived for 27 years.  I checked on him the next day and he was still there!
  3. Star and I watched a marathon of one of my favorite shows, Fixer Upper.
  4. To celebrate summer...glittery polish and I spent a little creative time in the studio and made an anklet...blue polished stones and a sterling silver clasp.
  5. A vintage piggy cutting board I brought home from the auction today.  Nobody wanted him, so I bid $1.  I'm going to sand him down and rub him with oil.  A greased pig...haha....
  6. I purged my cookbooks down to the bare minimum but had to keep the set A Country Garden Cookbook....mainly for the awesome photography.  They are pretty enough to display.  I think I have 12 volumes of it.  This one makes me want to bake a lemon meringue pie!
  7. Harry and the other guys have been enjoying quite a few Scooby Doo DVD's....still.  Nothing like waking up to villains like The Snow Ghost wailing down the hallway. ha. I think they have a crush on Daphne.
  8. A peak at the new front walk.  The sealant was applied yesterday!

  1. Can you believe it? I'm sitting here right now watching Fixer Upper. Love that show! If I ever win the lottery, I'm hiring Joanna Gaines to totally re-model and decorate my house. Thing is, I don't play the lottery...so there goes that idea. Look at YOUR cute feet and sparkly toes! Cute look for summer. I used to have one of those piggy cutting boards.....hmmmm, wonder what ever happened to that thing? I really do love cutting boards! I have them every where. LOL! Wow! Your front walk is so pretty! A lot of folks at the beach have those kinds of walks. I love them.

    2. I'm sitting here watching it, too! :)

Cutting boards and bread boards are so 'in' right now.... and thanks on the sailboat...it was an auction find, too!

    3. I've only been to one auction and it was for horses. I need to find one to go to locally. Maybe I'll be able to find a sailboat, too.

  2. Your sparkly toes go perfectly with that beautiful rug. Love the design and colours in it.
I'm glad you rescued Mr. Toad. He is a fine looking specimen.
Wish I had a furry TV watching companion!
Gorgeous anklet - love seeing them in the summer and turquoise is perfect.

  3. Nice yacht and skipper Socks looks in charge . .
It took me a while to find the frog . . . . great camouflage.
Glad to see you put your feet up once in a while . . .
Lovely job with the glittery polish and the anklet looks real classy. Not sure which foot I like the most . . . lol . . :)
    Nice cutting board for 1$
Love the new front design . . . full of style and I think must have been specified by the lady of the house . . . :)

    1. I have been trying to put my feet up a little more lately...even skipped posting and getting online a few days this week. :)
Is the anklet classy? Some people think they are trashy. Hmm....

  4. You would love the big dark green frog who is living in my in-ground fountain. He has the habit of "speaking" one complete sentence just before sunrise every morning, which is just enough to wake me up, since the fountain is near my bedroom window. That little Star has really made herself right at home. Love your new landscaping. Lynne in NC

    1. haha...your frog has taken the place of a morning rooster call! :) Yes, I'd love to see him....only toads around here. I need a pond (or fountain!) to attract a frog or two! Star is doing sooo good. We've had her 4 weeks today already! Amazing. I'm still brushing her...she doesn't groom herself, which seems so strange to me. She's been a hard one to figure out...especially with how to get her to drink water. It seems she only prefers my bathroom sink. haha....haven't had a cat that preferred the sink since my sweet old Teddy many years ago.

  7. Love your "around here lately"....so fun. Oh my, I had to go back and find the toad....I actually didn't see him... I was so busy looking for a cat in the picture.

    Lovely toes and anklet.

I saw a pig cutting board at a thrift shop and didn't buy it....now I'm so sorry. Can't wait to see it sanded and oiled.

Your yacht is lovely and a very handsome Captan Socks.

    Hugs.

    1. Yes...walk...path....from the driveway to the front porch. Walk way, sidewalk, foot path...lol.....this language is strange, isn't it? ha.

  14. Love the renovations to the front approach. Now you can see if anyone steals the wheelie bin!

Harry, Spencer and Alex would love to meet my new neighbours who've just moved in. They have built a railway signal box in the garden to contain a big model railway they have!

Is that the REAL Mr Toad of Toad Hall from the novel "The Wind in the Willows" by Kenneth Grahame. Coo, that's, real cool! Can you get me his autograph please?

Socks: "Will you please stop following me around taking pictures!".

I love that old carpet , Miss Twinkletoes, I bet it's a magic one. Is it going into the shop?

    1. You're right...the boys would love your neighbors! What a fun thing to put in their garden! We took the boys to see a back yard outdoor railway one time...very fun!

Yes, the real Mr. Toad! I don't know what happened to his posh clothing ...maybe that's all Marmy got when catching him and he wriggled out of his jacket, just like Peter Rabbit did when the fencing caught the buttons of his jacket. haha.

The carpet (rug) isn't for sale, no. haha...we do have similar tastes, don't we?

  15. I'm adding to my comment above - not sure if you saw it or not - but Harry looks so happy and I love the way you cut their hair. Very stylish with all the layers.

    1. I'm just catching up! :) Harry has the nicest hair....I love it. But he's asking for a haircut...has for weeks, in fact. I like it this length the best but if I don't cut it, he will take scissors to his head himself...which is REALLY bad. lol...
