The First Week Of May

There were a lot of spring 'firsts' as May rolled in!
Here are the ones I made note of this week....

  1. The June Bugs have arrived.  They come in May so I'm not sure why they have the name that they do!  They come out at night an hang on the window screens, attracted by the inside light.
  2. Garden Center shopping and beautiful flower pots on both porches.
  3. Bare feet inside the house.  I finally get to feel those new floors on my soles!  Lovely!
  4. No jackets when leaving the house!
  5. Warm breezes playing with my bangs as I sit at my desk.
  6. A pedicure.
  7. The flannel sheets were put away and cool cotton ones are on the beds.
  8. Sunroof open and radio blasting in the Jeep.  This song always pops in my head when I do this.  :)
  9. Windows left open at night.
  10. Waking to birdsong.

  3. When I was a kid in the 1950's living in East TN, I used to tie thread to a June bug's leg and keep it as a temporary pet. Now the thought of that gives me goosebumps. Lynne in NC

    1. OK..that made me laugh! ha! Oh, that's funny. I've heard of jars of lightning bugs and caterpillar pets...but never a June bug on a leash. :)
Although I did have pet worms...just earthworms...and I kept them in the window well on the side of the house. I wasn't allowed to have a pet and I guess that just shows how desperately I wanted one! lol...

  4. At first I thought you had a new bunny statuary - I mistook Garden Girl's arms for ears - ha! It's quite warm here today but I haven't been out in ages. Wicked cold. Loved those days driving with friends, roof down, music blasting. The Beach Boys, Bob Marley, Rolling Stones... FUN!

  5. I used to call them March bugs when I was a kid, because in Oklahoma they show up that early. I hope Peaches is doing well today! I have a wild kitty that comes for breakfast and supper here. I am hoping to get him fixed soon too. I call him Vinny! lol

  6. Walking in bare feet
Still can't do at my street
    Boys of summer you say
As you drive from bay to bay
    No jackets are great
Although the sleeves help me from touching germy things at my plate

    1. Thanks, Dolly :) I planted those bulbs for the first time this spring, so I have daffodils a little late to enjoy!
I've never had white ones before, either! I'm so glad you visited and left a comment! :)

  9. Love the daffys! Barefoot in the house, huh? You would love being a southern girl. I live in flip flops except in Jan. and Feb. My tootsies need to be free. I should go for a pedicure. I painted my nails myself, but law...,I got paint on my toes as well as my nails. Wearing glasses does not help. Lol! It's shameful! Enjoy your nice weather. We're having a little Ana rain this weekend. I don't mind it, though. There's just something about a spring rain, even if it is tropical.

    1. Oh, my pedicure is a selfie. ha. But it felt great. Flip flops almost all year...that is crazy! You'd freeze in Ohio! We had socks and slippers on just last week! We're supposed to get rain Monday, left over from the tornadoes on OK. Storms on both sides of the usa!

  10. I think listening to the birds through an open bedroom window in the morning is the BEST!

  11. The June bugs showed up here tonight too. I hate hearing them hit the window.
We left windows open last night for the first time last night.
    How is Peaches?

    1. Those bugs are icky! That noise is icky, too! Lol...and the get stuck on their backs and can't roll back over and are laying feet up, dead, on the porches in the morning...silly things. But you knew that....

    2. No sign of peach since I let him out of the cage yesterday morning. He ate and then was off and running.

    3. Yes - they are one of the worst bugs. Hope Peaches shows up soon. He's probably punishing you!

Listened to the Don Henley for first time . . . . great, I really like him . . . bet that makes you feel real good . . . :)
I don't think I dare walk around just yet in bare feet before I have a foot makeover or at least a drastic pedicure, but all things are possible . . . haha

    2. Are your toes scaring those nurses every week? Lol....

    3. Well they are not that bad but put it this way I could never wear flip flops . . . . well maybe in time but I might get a few funny looks . . . lol

  13. I'm worried that Peaches hasn't returned. Have others in your flock done this after they were captured and taken to the vet and then shown back up again? At least we have the satisfaction of knowing he is now in a much better shape no matter where he ends up geographically. I would really like to watch him evolve into a handsome addition to your feline family though. Lynne in NC

    1. Well, I'm not worried just yet. It's only been 24 hours. The other cats slept an entire day when they came home from being 'fixed'. They stuck around because they were already mine, so to speak and lived here. Peach just comes a couple of times a week and hasn't really claimed us as a permanent home, so he's a different scenario. Hopefully he will show over the weekend...I can't wait to see him!
