This And That

  1. Crunchy snack.
  2. Fresh out of the dishwasher. I'm thinking it would be fun to serve smoothies in these.  More of that Use the old stuff and not let it gather dust in a box mentality.
  3. Slate's slumbering sunspot.
  4. That cake, under construction.
  5. That cake, freshly frosted.
  6. Lookout tower.
  7. Cocoa.  We're celebrating 2 years this week since Tiger was at the back door with a young kitten, in the dark of night, with a couple feet of snow on the ground.  Where he came from is still a mystery!
  8. Current favorite lunch.  Top with kosher salt, lime juice, cumin and Sriracha.  Mash with a fork and scoop with blue corn tortilla chips.

    1. Well, I had to put the rest of that cake in the freezer so it wouldn't tempt me! ha. I have NO will power when it comes to sweets!

  2. Cocoa also has the Thompson Seeded Grape eyes like Slate. :-) You are surrounded by such glorious beasts! Spring arrived today in Central NC, along with its pollen problems. Remind me to never buy another black car. Lynne

    1. Cocoa has gorgeous eyes! We can immediately tell him from the other black cats because they are lighter green and slightly bluer instead of olive/brown colored. He's a scrappy thing...we can tell he had to fend for himself before he came to us. And he's the best at guarding the territory. Wish you could feel him...his coat is SO thick. Sweet boy. :)

Sorry about the pollen. It doesn't get so thick up here that it lands on things like in the south, but boy does it make my allergies miserable!

  3. I saw today my local kitchen shop has jars very like that on sale - for drinking out of. Go for it. Or they'd make pretty vases.

    1. You could also use them for preserving fruit and jam. . . .just saying.

    THAT cake....I want it....ALL.
I love Mason Jars, so versatile, flower-holders, drink-holders, storage containers, candel-holders, lightning bug holders, and yes, as Keith pointed out you can preserve in them :)

      and you got stern.
      Sent them away
      from your bay!
No chance of grape face showing
now that you are grape-wise and all knowing!

  10. I eat half an avocado every day in my salad. So healthy, really yummy, and they keep you full until dinner time. I have to try your recipe though!!! My Cuban loves anything seasoned with cumin. Haha

    1. One of the healthiest foods you can eat! I love them! Nobody else in the family likes them so I don't have to share! Lol....

    2. Lmao!!! That's a nice way to not to share. My man fed mushy a whole avocado for dinner once while I was at work. I came home to a very messy baby and he said "you told me to give her fruit." Lol really??

    3. haha,...hey, a girl's never too young for an avocado facial, right?

  11. Never tried sriracha but I hear it's wonderful. Avocados are one of my favourite all-time foods, but I only seem to buy them sporadically. Have to start making it a regular purchase. The kitties look wonderful and Slate is so sweet basking in the sun. That cake is a work of art... and architecture! How does it not keel over? I have seen Mason jar breakfast recipes on Pinterest that are refrigerated the night before - they look pretty tasty! Such variety.

  15. A fun variety of things today. I love the kitten that grew up to be a beautiful cat. Cake is my weakness and I would have to have two slices. That is a wonderful creation. The jars are always fun. The Machined Shed serve water in their cafe for years in mason jars. Stopped serving water but a lemonade would come in a jar.
