...Nobody gets out alive."
In light of that Elbert Hubbard quote, I played with my food today.
A little raspberry forest.
And some other things that made me smile lately....
- A little snake watching.
- The sunrise this morning.
- Last night looking outside and seeing Peaches sunning himself. He came running as soon as he heard my voice!
- Spring sky.
- Spencer, so excited to receive a railway magazine from Keith.
- Clean and organized jewelry. Now I can find what I'm looking for!
- This little surprise. A lost dog at my back door. She must have heard we'd help her get home, which we did. But not before I endured 20 minutes of incessant barking, guarded the cat flap (she saw Nugget through the glass!), kept Slate from going out the flap, and wished The Mister would get home to help since I couldn't leave the flap, had Harry in the tub, Socks and Velvet up in the tree, dinner on the stove, and wasn't having any luck reading the middle tag on that collar while she kept jumping as high as I am tall. Whew!
- Groceries, making a pretty still life.
♥
Wow! Excitement and calm... these made me smile.
ReplyDeleteThat's life at the zoo.....a roller coaster ride! haha.
DeleteI see a kitty under a ship! Also so glad that Peaches is more trusting - any day now! You have some very pretty jewellery - at first glance I thought, "Oh, more treasures for the shop!"
ReplyDeleteThe kitty is Samantha. :) Yes, Peaches...I almost cried when he came running! Yay! He also took bites of chicken from my hand. Still looks awful, but we are almost there! Wouldn't let me pet him but still, it's looking good!
DeleteI got teary seeing Peaches sunning himself. I do so hope he is a "success!" I was pretty sure that was Samantha, but didn't see her name in the labels - kitties, kitties everywhere. Do you sometimes take photos and not even realize one has snuck in? Ha!
DeleteIf I had to be lost in a forest... I would love to be lost in a raspberry forest.
When I first saw the jewellery I thought, "Oh, some more treasures in the shop!" Better keep my hands to myself - grin.
I love the little things in life that make us smile. Keep smiling!
ReplyDeleteMe, too....it really is the little things!
Deletenow that was a day!
ReplyDeleteDon't you have crazy days? lol....
DeleteI take it your cats aren't frightened of snakes? Is it poisonous?
ReplyDeleteNo, they aren't frightened. It was a common garter snake...not harmful. And they were kind to it!
DeleteHi Betsy - gosh that was an interesting addition to the family - well two, perhaps the third you'd love to join you .. the snake, the poppet dog, and Peaches ... so pleased all was resolved ... crazy - I agree .. cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteJust a typical day! ha.
DeleteRaspberries are just made for playing with, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteThey sure are tasty right now, too..big and sweet!
DeleteI think playing with your food is not only fun, but therapy....food therapy. HaHa. Now a dog.....You home is an animal magnet!!
ReplyDeleteLoved your post today... made me smile, smile, smile.
Food therapy! Oh, that was funny! You made me laugh out loud. Yes, I need therapy and it might as well be food therapy...genious!
DeleteHaHa ~ it started with me years ago...10 pitted olives on 10 fingers...
DeleteThrilled to see Peaches back. Lynne in NC
ReplyDeleteI'm going to stop by the vet Friday when I'm out running errands and see if they will agree to a spur-of-the-moment appointment if and when I can get him in a carrier. :)
DeleteWith all the business you give them, they should definitely accommodate Peaches.
DeleteGood luck with Peaches. It looks like it's getting close. Maybe one more piece of chicken. :)
ReplyDeleteYep! Each time it's better! I'm so encouraged!
DeleteOh my dear...that must have been like an I Love Lucy episode, with you and the dog!!
ReplyDeleteSUrprised to see a snake already....ewwww!
Great series of shots Betsy...
Ain't life fun?♥️
Enjoy your evening...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Seriously! It would have made a very funny episode of some sitcom! hahaha....
DeleteI thought it was early for a snake...do they hibernate? They must...bet he wished he hadn't ventured into our zoo!
Quite a day for you . . . I think the dog might have upset the apple cart with cats and nugget . . .
ReplyDeleteHope all is under control . .
I think I would eat the raspberry hats . . . love them. . .
Glad Peaches is getting used to you . .
Love the shy shots . . . :)
I wanted to take my phone and step outside with the dog....get her number and call the owner. But that was not to be....she saw Nugget and wanted to come inside SO bad. What a raucous! Thankfully, the mister got home and was able to help. ha.
DeleteGlad he came home and you both sorted it . . . . . good job he did . .. :)
DeleteHe walked in and took one look at me and the dog outside and said, "What on earth!" and I said, "I need help!" lol....by that time I had made out the last name on the tag and he knew the family..one street over and called them.
DeleteDon't leave that jewellery on the window ledge when the window is open. I'll give you three guesses what could happen. Ha
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are winning Peaches over at last.
I only need one guess! :)
Deletehahaha for a second there
ReplyDeleteI thought you added a mutt to your lair
Oh how that would go
Be fun and quite the show
Cats would survive just fine
Not sure on Nugget with a dog though sitting in the cat line
Snakes at play too
With all the chaos sure better not to take life too seriously at your zoo haha
Chaos it was
Deletecrazy because
how else would it be
for little old me?
haha.
At least he was small
DeleteAnd not 4 feet tall
She could jump so high!
DeleteUp to the sky!
Make eye contact with me
at 5'5". So funny!
Are the cats staring down that snake or is the snake staring down the cats. Either way.....OMG!!!! Run!!! I'm scared to death of them. And guess what? I was backing out of my garage today and right there in my flower bed was a big ole black snake. I yelled......OMG!!! I sent Cliff a text and a picture and told him to hurry up and come home and kill it. He did, neither! OMG!!!
ReplyDeletehaha..oh my! See...I'm not the only one that looks like they are in an episode of I Love Lucy! haha....glad the snake didn't get you!
DeleteThe cats were amused...not sure what the snake thought!
All the animals know where Dr. Dolittle is :)
ReplyDeleteThat is SO true! haha...I should start charging!
DeleteYum for raspberries! I'm so glad Peaches is getting closer. I laughed when I saw the dog - he's in dangerous territory! That's a cute picture of Spencer!
ReplyDeleteThe raspberries have been so good!
DeleteThat dog..oh my!
reminds me of the wild things book. Let the wild rumpus begin! Sounds like all is well after such a flurry of
ReplyDeleteexcitement. Glad all are safe and happy. Taria
haha...my Taylor loved that book when he was a toddler...and could recite the whole thing with me!
DeleteCats, now a dog...wonder what's next! I love these posts!
ReplyDeleteNothing, I hope! lol....
DeleteYou saw lots of upbeat things, and I like the quote.
ReplyDeleteyeah, that quote is pretty funny. :)
DeleteI just knew this was Spencer because of the train magazine. Are the boys losing weight? Or just Spencer? Lookin' good!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fiasco with the pup. He looks so much like my Milo!
Jane xx
He has slimmed down considerably! The other two, not so much. But Spencer doesn't eat a lot of junk food and prefers lean protein and fruit. lol...silly kid!
DeleteIsn't life a blast? It sounds like you had an exciting day. Snake? Your cats are sure calm to just watch it!
ReplyDeleteyes, every day is an adventure! Whew!
DeleteAnd, they made me smile too... and chuckle at the chaos the little lost dog was causing! Ha! He did come to a good place... help always available here. =) blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteps that sky was BEAUTIFUL!
Wow...that was some crazy chaos! We aren't used to a dog barking! ...and barking...and barking...
DeleteYou had me going there for a minute...#1 snake? Oh, thank heavens no snake in the raspberries! Happy the lonely dog found his home again...nothing ever happens when you can handle it without interruptions! Don't you know?
ReplyDeletehaha...right..the raspberries weren't part of the list. I'm happy the dog got home, too! Crazy! lol....
DeleteYou are so right. As one who took life seriously until just the past few years, it is a waste of energy and doesn't really change anything. Love the lost puppy dog.
ReplyDeleteSo true....keep your sense of humor and take one day at a time!
DeleteAw I am glad that you helped the puppy get home. Hopefully he didn't venture too far in this chilly weather. Playing with food is so fun!
ReplyDeleteHe actually wasn't too far away from home, but I didn't recognize him!
