Good effort though . . . I bet Wilson Bentley used a telescope attachment and the snowflake was dead flat so depth of focus was even. I think it must be very difficult to do. We had an hour of sleet today . . .brrr! . . . :)
Yes, his were with a telescope attachment and he mounted them on black cloth while standing outside. I just stepped out and snapped a few as they landed on the bushes. I wasn't really trying to make them as good as him but just to capture some of the detail.
Oh I think your capture is magnificent. I just keep going back and looking...Beautiful. So sparkly.. Sunshine here today. Landscapers are out pruning already as the vines are growing like crazy.
We can use moisture anyway we can get it. Boy is it dry here but been about 75 out lately. A few weeks of nice weather and then the heat goes up! Send rain, send snow, yes. : ) Taria
Hi Betsy - love the snowflakes and Bentley was extraordinary .. his attention to detail and dedication to his passion ... he's crept into my world a few times recently .. though I'm happy without any of that Spring Snow here! Lovely images you've given us - cold though .. we have sunshine today! Cheers Hilary
It's fairly common for us...March and April are such a tease here...cold enough for winter coats in the morning but warmer in the afternoons. We dress in layers and check the forecast every morning before getting dressed. ha.
One year I do remember it was warm for a couple of weeks and then we had a hard freeze. The bugs were significantly less that year...it was great! ha.
We have had SUNSHINE for two days and I FEEL the good medicine in that for me! Beautiful snowflakes, but I'm happy for some warmer weather and NO RAIN for awhile. ;) blessings ~ tanna
HERE I AM!! (Better late than never!) I love the snowflakes!! Good selective focus and depth of field, and good composition. If you guys keep having snow up that way, I'd like a picture of YOU making snow angels.... maybe that will be our tomato bet this year!! But get the picture now! HAHAHA..... (I'm just messing with you...)
Not bad for my first try, right? I love how sparkly they are...and at least you can see a little definition in them. I'll have to keep practicing. Snow angels? hahahaha.....this bet isn't fair, you know...you are ALWAYS going to have the first red tomato!

DeleteI reckon they are really good Betsy, my little snowflake . . . :)

DeleteAwesome! It was a pretty snow here yesterday, too. They were the biggest snow flakes I had ever seen.
ReplyDeleteIt was pretty! It's still exciting to me whenever it snows. I think it's so cool. :)

ReplyDeleteI didn't think I did too bad! :) We just don't appreciate that each one is a beautiful, intricate shape when we see it as a big white mass. haha.

ReplyDeleteThose pine needles held them up nicely!

ReplyDeleteHe was extraordinary...especially for the 1800's! The sun is breaking through the grey this morning....might actually feel like spring!
DeleteYou pictures are chilling!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe you still are getting snow.
Maybe you won't have as many Bugs this summer!
