When we did our kitchen renovation last fall there was a little
space of blank wall left between the cupboards and the
three windows that make up my little nook for my desk.
I've been looking for some pretty little thing to put in that space.
A couple of weeks ago I stumbled upon these pretty antique plates
from Austria. I happen to have a thing for old plates with fruit painted
on them and these raspberries were beautiful. They have a little
row of Shamrocks around the edge, too! Perfect for this girl
with some Irish blood in her!
They even had a splash of grey to coordinate with the wall color!
I purchased these from Michelle at The Dripping Tap, a cute
little Etsy shop. I was so impressed with her packaging. They
arrived safe and sound! She had great customer service and she
even sent a fourth plate as a surprise when I had only purchased three.
Great customer service deserves some recognition, I think!
If you feel like doing some online shopping, go check out Michelle's
shop. You can find it HERE.
Thank you, Michelle!
Lovely plates and exactly what I wanted for this space!
Best of luck with your little shop!

What a perfect touch! I will visit her. ;-) you might have competition - hee hee.
ReplyDeleteUh oh! lol....
DeleteAren't they pretty? I even have a pinterest board started for hand painted fruit plates. These were perfect for me.
Oh, I will have to check out your pinterest board. The raspberries are lovely with their gradation of colour, and I adore the shamrock trim. In your first photo, on my screen, your cabinets look deep purple! In the next photo they are the proper colour. Odd.
DeleteMe too Suzanne!
DeleteGreat finish to a fab room....
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Oh Betsy ~ those plates are beautiful and so perfect in that spot. I love your computer nook! I also think your planter is so cute.
ReplyDeleteAren't they lovely? I was so pleased with them! That plant is a primrose. I need Linda to tell me how to make it bloom again. ha.
DeleteI love the raspberries plate!!!
ReplyDeleteAren't they lovely? :)
DeleteVery pretty. They're perfect.

I thought so. Kinda fun! :)
DeleteYour home looks so bright and cheery, love your decorating. I just bought something from an etsy site...wonderful transaction for me too!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a fun place to shop....even the window shopping is fun! :)
DeleteHi Betsy, don't you just love when you find the perfect piece of China? They look so beautiful in their new home. I really love your windows, too. They are gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI have a weakness for pretty dishes...just like you! :)
DeletePerfect! And your shout out was a nice RAK.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I guess it was! ha.
DeleteThey certainly very pretty. You remind me of my Pat, whenever she saw a blank space on the wall or a space in a corner somewhere she never rested until she found something suitable to put there. She even had a vintage Fire Bucket with an aspidistra planted in it at the side of the toilet!
ReplyDeleteSaying that I remind you of your Pat is just about the nicest compliment I could get! Now, I must find a plant and old bucket to put in the bathroom! :)
DeleteWow, those are pretty nifty!
ReplyDeleteI thought so, too!
DeleteThey are really well done
ReplyDeleteAnd filled it up perfect under your sun
Centered pretty good too
I notice that at my zoo lol
Used a ruler and level,
DeleteSo my OCD wouldn't unravel.
hahaha....
I really like the plates in that space and the colors are perfect. Thanks for the tip about Michelle's etsy shop too.
ReplyDeleteI debated about leaving the space empty but every time I looked at it I felt a little something there would look nice.
DeleteWhen I saw the plates, I knew they would be the perfect thing! And I'm so glad you're back to blogging! :)
Great to finish the corner off ~ perfect.
ReplyDeleteNice that Michelle supplied you and treated you to the extra plate . . . :)
It was very nice, especially from someone I've never heard of or done business with before! I told her I had a blog and invited her to come see the photos, so I hope she does!
DeleteHow lovely, the raspberries compliment your kitchen so well !
ReplyDelete~Jo
I thought they did, too....a nice little bit of color right there!
Deletenice...i like the splash of purple as well....
ReplyDeleteIt did need a little color, didn't it!
DeleteThey are very pretty and look like they were made for that spot. I especially like the raspberries. Is that lettuce you have growing on your counter? If so, it sure looks healthy.
ReplyDeleteNo, that's a primrose. I just cut off the tired blooms. I hope it blooms again...it was so cheery with some color!
DeleteThey are perfect! Looks like the spot was put there for them.
ReplyDeletehaha..that is so true! And if I had the plates before the reno, I just might have created that spot for them! haha.
DeleteLovely plates, Besty! I think maybe you were meant to be born at a different time, a different century. I think I was also.
ReplyDeleteHi Janelle! You know, I think you might be on to something there! I feel that way, too!
DeleteThey are very pretty plates, Betsy. I am also half Irish and that shamrock border would have spoke to me! I woll look at Michelle's shop!
ReplyDeleteSome times things just speak to you. Things do that to me all the time. Mostly they say, Take me home with you! Ha.
DeleteWow these are so cute!!!!
ReplyDeleteWell done
xox
Thank you, Manu...I really am enjoying them!
DeletePerfect for that spot!! And, shamrocks just in time for St. Patty's day! Those plates are just beautiful, Betsy. Good find (along with the good customer service)! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteThat's what I thought...how timely on the Shamrocks!
DeleteYour plates are perfect in your kitchen. Etsy is a dangerous thing for me. :) I love finding great new to me shops.
ReplyDeleteHi Stacey! Yes, it can be dangerous! And since I have my own shop there, I'm always on that site and seeing beautiful things!
DeleteYou have the touch and style of distinction.
ReplyDeletePerfection every time.
Well, aren't you sweet! :)
DeleteWhat did you do with all those baskets?
I bagged them up!
DeleteI have five garbage bags!
I still keep finding more baskets in closets and drawers. need help!
Hi Betsy - what a lovely lady to send on the fourth plate .. and they do go just so in your corner: with your lamp, the little ceramic planter and I can't think of its name plant! ... lovely and it looks so clean and satisfying .. cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteIt really was nice of her to send the other plate....little things like that really make an impression, don't they? So thoughtful!
DeleteBetsy you have excellent taste.
ReplyDeleteWell, consider that a compliment to you, Andy, because I like you a lot! :)
DeleteHow lovely!
ReplyDeleteWill you remind me what those gorgeous countertops are made of? We're about to put in just a new bottom set of counters, and I want something bright, as it's a second kitchen downstairs.
Thanks,
rachel
They are quartz..from Ikea. How fun for you to get new ones!
DeleteThey are exquisite. I love how they pick up the colour in your pretty lamp too.
ReplyDeleteYes, that worked out pretty well, didn't it! :)
