I've said all winter that we didn't have squirrels.
I mean, what squirrel would stick around with 14 cats roaming
under the trees? But this weekend I was throwing peanuts out for
the Blue Jays and this guy was watching!
He waited until the coast was clear, scampered down, grabbed
a peanut, and ran up the tree with Samantha fast on the trail!
Don't worry, he was safe...and got lunch, too!
And all while the snow was falling!
What a cutie!

It's the last week of the RAK Adventure!
I hope you'll do a random act of kindness
this week and share here on Friday!
♥
SUCH a cute photo, Betsy!! Glad he got his peanut. ;) blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteHe was pretty cute....and I usually don't care for squirrels because they can empty the bird seed in 2 minutes. ha. Fortunately I finally found squirrel proof feeders!
DeleteAnother gorgeous shot, Betsy.
ReplyDeleteIt's like he posed. ha. I think he was watching me!
DeleteYou captured him beautifully . . .
ReplyDeleteHe is a brave little chap with 14 cats around but obviously loves the peanuts . . . more than fearing the cats . . .
Perhaps he thought they would all, with the exception of Samantha, be inside watching NASCAR , , , lol
haha..well, actually, there were four of them on the couch with me....all sleeping, though...unless I yelled and then they'd open one eye and look at me. lol....
Deletesounds a bit stressful watching nascar . . . I see Jeff G must have got bawked or had problems working his way up the field ~ shame .
DeleteTurning in . . sweet dreams . . . :)
No, it's not stressful...it's exciting! Maybe cheering would have been a better word than yelling.
DeleteHe got wrecked again. :(
What a cutie! My cats are getting too old to chase squirrels (I hope) and Little Red spends most of his time in the tree or under the snow in his tunnels.
ReplyDeleteI think peanuts are the perfect treat for attracting friends.
:0)
This guy must not be as smart as your squirrel...a snow tunnel would have been smart! Maybe he thought above the snow would be faster, though...Sam would have pounced on a moving snow blob. haha. He must live in the neighbor's tree....way up high, too...hopefully he stays safe!
DeleteI love squirrels and this is really cute:)
ReplyDeleteHe is cute! And I was surprised to see him!
DeleteGlad he got away
ReplyDeleteA full belly and can live to eat another day
Watching the cats roam
Below his tree home
Hope he stays smart up there
Deleteand is careful and aware!
Wouldn't want him to become a treat.
Finding his tail on the porch wouldn't be so neat!
I LOVE THIS!
ReplyDeleteIsn't he sweet? Aw. I have another shot of him that's even better! I'll show it soon.
DeleteBetsy, that picture is so beautifully composed. Love the gnarled bark and how sweetly he fits in. And those wee paws tucked under? Awww! Hope he stays safe.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of the photo was the way he was sitting there...his little front legs (I call them arms. ha.) across this chest like that...so cute! I'm a little worried about him....hope he escapes the cats. He did seem to be watching closely, though, so I know he's aware.
DeleteBeautiful photo! I'm glad he got the peanut. I have a soft spot for grays.
ReplyDeleteWe had one gray squirrel that was probably relocated out here last spring. I haven't seen it this winter. We usually have only red squirrels. Seeing a gray is treat.
Isn't that funny....I've only seen grays here! I'd be thrilled with a red. Want to trade one? ha. A black one would be cool, too.
DeleteWhat a great picture! I was not sure how many cats you have....you are ahead of me. I have 6!
ReplyDeletehaha...I know...I don't announce it too often because people get the wrong idea and think it's weird and our house surely must stink. haha. But that's not true....I'm obsessed with it not being too catty. lol.... It was 15 before Grey went missing...and we haven't had a new one for a whole year! I think the neutering and spaying is really paying off! Yay!
DeleteWhat a cute picture! Glad he got at least one peanut!
ReplyDeleteBetween the jays and the cats, he doesn't have much of a chance, poor thing!
DeleteI like to watch the young squirrels run and play with each other. However, they can be a nuisance sometimes. There is a resident squirrel in the hickory nut tree by our porch at the beach. He/she will gather the nuts while they are still green and sit on a branch and chip away at the green outer shell. And then, I swear he spits them at me. Little pieces of green nut shell rains down on me as I sit there. It's kind of funny to think he is doing it on purpose. And then, I can't tell you how many times I have fussed at them because they steal all the pecans from the trees across the street. I just want a handful....I don't think that's too much to ask for. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI've always thought the were a nuisance because they would dump the feeders and gobble all the seed from my feeders. They would even charge at the birds trying to eat! The cats have kept them away quite nicely. But I will have to admit that he is really cute.
DeleteOh what a brave little guy ~ chancing a meeting with an army of cats. He is beautiful, and his winter coat darling. You have a prize winning picture right there!! Love it.
ReplyDeleteI do love his little coat...the markings are so pretty! I hope he stays safe!
DeleteI'd scamper up the tree pretty fast too in all that snow and chased by an angry cat.
ReplyDeleteYes, so would I! He was a brave little guy!
Deletesquirrels are my fav...i know many think they are a pest but they have so much fun...i saw several last week when at home,
ReplyDeleteone funny guy kept ramming his head into the snow, i guess looking for food, he entertained me quite a bit...
I can see the attraction...they are cute and rambunctious! This one sure is adorable!
DeleteWhat a great shot, Betsy! So expressive with his hands together!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that post just so cute? It makes the photo, I think.
DeleteVery cute shot. I find him and those colors in this photo rather soothing.
ReplyDeleteThey are soothing...and they're my favorites...anything grey! :)
Deleteadorable!!! i have a 'herd' of fox squirrels i could send to you!
ReplyDeleteHmm...you'd have to warn them about the cats! haha. Is that what these are, fox squirrels? Cute name.
DeleteI sometimes toss corn kernels on the outside of the fence so the rabbit doesn't have to come into the yard. We have four of them and no cats of our own to keep them in line. That is a marvelous photo.
ReplyDeleteOh, I bet they love that corn! I had bird seed with peanuts and corn in it a few years ago and the squirrels and raccoons wouldn't let the birds have a chance!
DeleteI will never forget that when I went to Greece and stayed in a very small town, they sold caged squirrels as pets. Sigh...
ReplyDeleteI am glad your visitor made it safely with his lunch!!
No kidding? Oh my...I guess that would be a fun pet. I remember my great grandparents had squirrels in their yard and they were so tame they would come take peanuts from their hand.
DeleteHow many lives does a squirrel have? Nine, like a cat? If so then this little chappie has just lost one, all for the sake of a peanut! You can bet that Samantha is counting, "one down, eight to go; I am waiting. . . . . ."
