- Lowe's had spring bulbs at $1 a bag, so I found a few blue and white ones for my blue garden. Need to get out there with my shovel and plant them before the next snow!
- Slate and Marmalade seem to have come to some kind of agreement to live peaceably with each other. They were sleeping together on our bed this morning. A Christmas miracle. ha.
- The Christmas song I've been humming all week is Let There Be Peace On Earth. Interesting, because I haven't heard it even once this season, so I have no idea how it got in my head. But it sure is fitting for our world, our country, gosh, even my extended family. I think I'll put it on my chalkboard as part of my foyer decorations, too.
- Hiding Christmas presents from the boys is becoming just about an impossible task. It's worse than when they were younger!
- The rooster came home with me a couple of years ago from the auctions. I laughed because I thought he was so cool and Taylor said it was hideous. Well, I gave that old rooster (who did have a poorly done shiny white paint job all over him) a makeover with black and grey paint to look like concrete. Now he's classy enough to be in the new dining room! Well, I think so anyway.
♥
Such sweet news about Slate and Marmalade. Perhaps they know Santa is taking note. I think the rooster looks fabulous. Lynne in NC
ReplyDeleteI was a little surprised when they both were there snuggling down for the day. That's never happened before! Maybe it is Santa...but whatever it is, I'm very happy about it. It never got really ugly, but they would hiss and refuse to be near each other. Maybe the other cats held an intervention during the night. haha.
DeleteI don't think Henry (seems he's my cat now) and Dinky would ever sleep in the same room. Henry desperately wants to be friends, but Dinky is having none of it.
DeleteSlate has been here since February and this just happened today...so there is still time for Dinky to soften! It's funny, though, since she does know him already.
DeleteI started a blue and white board on Pinterest - I love it!
ReplyDeleteOooh...I'll have to come take a look!
DeleteI just started it a few days ago so not as many pins as some of my other boards but I am loving adding to it. Something so fresh about that colour combination.
DeleteIt's a classic....I love it...obviously. :) That will be a fun board for you to do!
DeleteI think it's funny that just yesterday you were saying Marmy and Slate were battling it out and this morning they were bedmates. Aw! Too cute. They must know that Santa is keeping a naughty/nice list!
ReplyDeleteI know...I couldn't believe my eyes this morning! Maybe they read my blog and saw how I was concerned about it. haha.
DeleteI recall when you got that rooster. Did Taylor ever warm up to it?
ReplyDeleteNo! haha...although he did say the paint made it look better.
DeleteMaybe Slate and Marmalade heard you humming let there be peace on earth. It is the perfect saying for this time of year and all year long.
ReplyDeleteWe have a big concrete rooster similar to yours. We used to leave him outside. But I didn't like seeing him out in the cold so I brought him indoors. I like the wreath around your rooster's neck. I have a small wreath that I was looking for a place to put today. I just put it on top of a little lampshade. But now I think I'll try it around my roosters neck. He sits in the entryway to greet people and the wreath will make him very festive. You always inspire me.
Have a happy and peaceful weekend 💚
Those two little boxes at the end of my post were supposed to be hearts. Don't know what happened ??? :-)
DeleteOh yes, put them on the rooster so he'll be festive when he greets people! I have a little one around my frosty penguin at the front door for the same reason So fun!
DeleteThose boxes look like owl eyes! haha.
Get those bulbs planted! How cool is that!
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Linda :o)
It rained all day today or I would have already done it! ha. Over the weekend for sure!
DeleteBusy time ahead planting the bulbs . . .bet they will look nice in bloom.
ReplyDeleteVery surprising about Marmalade and Slate ~ how great is that . . . real cool.
My fav Christmas song is O Holy Night with Denyce Graves singing (showed you last year

Agree with Taylor about the Rooster . . . sorry . . . best eaten I think . . :)
You think the rooster is hideous? lol....oh dear....I guess I won't put you down in my will for getting him.
DeleteI don't believe I've ever eaten a rooster....
It looks very pregnant . . . . but it can't be . . . rofl
DeleteLet's see if I can remember the Nursery Rhyme
Cock a doodle do!
My dame has lost her shoe,
My master's lost his fiddlestick,
And knows not what to do.
Funny what inspires these rhymes . . . . lol
I AM going to bed now . . . night and sweet dreams . . . :)
Listening to "Let there be peace on Earth"
DeleteFirst time I have heard it and it is so beautiful ~ we all want that so much don't we?
I do believe when Jesus returns it will be that way ~ and the same in the animal kingdom, "The loin shall eat straw like the ox."
Taylor and I may even like your rooster then . . . . lol . . .
Love the header, Betsy . . . . :)
. . . oh gosh what a Freudian slip . . . I meant lion of course . . . rofl . . . omg how funny . . .
DeleteThose spring bulbs were a steal!!
ReplyDeleteI always forget to buy/plant them! I'm a little late...but better than not at all!
DeleteI think the rooster looks very nice :-)
ReplyDeleteI learned to be a pro at hiding Christmas presents. The best place I ever found was up in the attic! Our house was built with roof trusses, which make the area good for nothing except the thick layer of insulation. The opening is in the ceiling of my closet. I'd drag a step stool in there, close the door behind me, lift the piece of drywall that serves as a door, and shove the bags in. They'd stay there until I was ready to wrap.
The attic is a good idea!
Deletelol not as ugly a rooster as before
ReplyDeleteThere at your shore
Peace would be nice
But better chance of a cat living with mice lol
Nope, he's improved a lot
Deleteas white he is not.
Mice don't know peace
as cats want them to eat!
ha.
ha this rooster is something special :)
ReplyDeleteAnd Im agree nobody eat rooster Eddie:)
you know I think about Slate:)
he is a good guy!
If you find a rooster recipe, I want you to make it for your blog! ha.
DeleteHi Betsy ... poor rooster not loved much by Taylor! Still he looks pretty proud standing in his place ... oh dear presents and the boys - not easy as you say - keep things at Mister's work .. til just before hand, then they can stay in the boot/trunk I believe you say?! Love that Slate and Marmalade have made up .. cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThe trunk is a great idea! In his car, though, since they can't get into it. Mine, they know and would find them! haha.
DeletePoor rooster isn't getting much love...oh dear! I still love him.
You always make me smile. Good for the kitties and I think the rooster looks fantastic. I, too, have the holiday songs going through my head constantly because I have the holiday station playing all day on the TV! Since mid-November! lol!
ReplyDeleteThe one year I had luck with hiding presents was when I kept them in my husband's car trunk. The kids really thought they had been bad! ;-)
Jane xx
You all are so smart...the trunk and attic should do the trick!
DeleteSince the middle of November? Oh my! lol....
