I always heard that long healthy whiskers, is a sign of a healthy cat.... Marmalade looks pretty darn healthy! You getting rain there? Cheers! Linda :o)
The "wildest" and most "mistreated" of all my rescues, crawled up on my stomach and laid down for a long time yesterday. Ironic that he still has trust after what he has been through.
OH, that is so sweet! I'm still working on Velvet. She doesn't run when I get close but still won't let me touch her. Poor girl. She has relaxed a lot over the last three years but I still have a long way to go. Funny how she shows trust by bringing me her litters and lets me play and touch her babies but doesn't want me to touch her. She sat at my feet while I was cooking and meowed for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I'd never heard her voice before! So, there is still hope....
How sweet of you to have an outdoor cat feeder! That's how I started my herd of cats...feeding them outside. Then I had heated shelters on the porch...then we installed a cat door and they just come in. haha.
Ah yes. Whiskers that tickle. Whiskers that cure a broken heart. Sounds like a country song hidden in there somewhere. HAHAHA! Maybe the guys from "Duck Dynasty" are on to something. However, my Mrs. prefers the NON-TICKLING type. So no whiskers for me. A guy has to do whatever it takes to keep the Mrs. happy. Right? Right?? (Love this picture, by the way.)
The Mister has had a beard for almost 10 years now. It did take some getting used to! Sometimes it tickles..and sometimes it hurts! ha. And yes, you better keep her happy! :)
Love this photo! Last night I had a sleeping kitten on my lap, not a little one, half grown, and totally sweet and cuddly. Almost forgot what that was like. :0)
Such a sweet picture and quote. I love Marmalade's ginger-y goodness. Did you know that the length of the whiskers across their face (i.e. far left to far right) informs them of how narrow a passage they can squeeze through? Even if the have a chubby body, they can squeeze through tight openings as long as it is the span of their whiskers! I think that is very cool.
Marmalade appears to have usurped Slate's position as most photogenic. How I wish I could feel his magnificent thick coat! Your guys would make wonderful stars in cat food commercials. Lynne in NC
Slate and Marmalade are having a little rivalry going as to who is going to be king of the beasts in this house. They tolerate each other but I see some competition as to who will sleep on our bed and who will sit in my lap. It's a little amusing! You'd think with 14, they would know that all are welcome. Besides, I keep pointing out to them that Velvet is the queen and nobody can really take her position. haha. The rivalry hasn't gotten nasty or anything, but they steer clear of each other for the most part and one will hiss at the other occasionally. lol....
Hi Betsy ..Marmalade's whiskers look amazing - such a lovely shot .. and I too love the quote - little souls they are amazing how they pick up the vibes of life ... wonderful to see - but boy do they know the best places in life .. middle of the bed - warm and cosy .. great remembrances for me .. but am so pleased to see him here .. cheers Hilary
I just love it when Dinky kisses me and her whiskers tickle my face.
ReplyDeleteEveryone here tickles me with their whiskers...men and cats! ha.
DeleteOh yes? I wasn't aware the boys had beards.
DeleteWell, they only get a shave once a week, so they have some tickley prickles as the days go on!

Aw...that is just the best! And it's a proven fact that a cat sleeping in your lap lowers your blood pressure! (unless you're Spencer or Alex. ha.)
