Corn Chowder

I don't really have a recipe.  I just add what sounds good!
Fresh corn, onion, celery, garlic, carrots.
Chicken broth, half and half, salt and pepper.

  3. Great minds think alike! Joan came to dinner tonight (it was my turn to cook) so I looked in the fridge and found some stale bread, courgette, peppers, Frikadelen, chopped tomato left overs, grated cheese, onion and garlic. So I invented a meal which the closest name I could think of was a "Croque Madame Courgette Gratin" with perhaps a big hint of paprika in it ! Like you I didn't have a recipe, and I couldn't repeat it exactly. It was heavenly! Joan loved it.

    2. A teacher at the Cordon Bleu said don't look up a recipe, go to the shops and buy the necessary ingredients. The best way is to go to the veg market, fish market, meat market, whatever, and buy the ingredients that YOU like, being careful to buy really fresh looking stuff. Come home lay it all out on the table, look at it, and INVENT something. (He must be mad!)

    3. That's how I shop...and cook! I do occasionally follow a recipe but usually just look in the fridge and see what sounds good. I taste as I go along and add this and that. So, if he is mad, so am I. (and you!) lol....

And I love the saying, "An empty skillet is a blank canvas."

    1. Too many carrots can turn you orange!
Then people will think you are strange.
The mister works with someone that drank carrot juice every day
and that happened to him, much to his dismay.
      lol...

    2. lmao, an oompa loompa at my sea
It is already happening a bit to me

He is pink, I'm yellow/orange a bit on display lol
      Oh well
      Worse things at ones cell

    3. I think you can even it out with something green
then you won't look too obscene.
although, I'd enjoy calling you an oompa.
      Laughing already, I tell ya.
lol. Just don't start singing their song.
Cuz that is just plain wrong!

    5. lol I eat tons of green too
But also eat many a cashew
So between those and carrots at my sea
They can turn me a yellow/orangey

    6. Well, you're just doing what you have to do
so a little orange will look good on you.
A whole new meaning to a peaches and cream complexion
Is what I'd say, I reckon.
      haha.

I keep thinking we should eat sweet corn, and then at supper time I forget all about it.

Thank you for your kind comment on my post this evening. Your boys would have loved visiting with Kyle and viewing his train project. The guys were beginning to start on Christmas projects, too. It was a heartwarming afternoon.
Thanks again and God bless you and yours.

  18. Oh Betsy, I could jump into that pot of corn chowder. That looks so so so good! I think you could sell jars of it in your shop! We had so much fun at Myk's last night. Family time just can't be beat. Kaleb heads back to college, so won't see him for a while. It cool here today...a bowl of your chowder would really go good about now.
