Cloches!

Cloches are those beautiful glass display domes or bell jars
that seem to be everywhere the last couple of years.
Although, they have been around a long time.
They were used to cover clocks, taxidermy, and fragile
plants in the garden.  Now they make anything look special!
They are named for those charming hats of the 1920's.

I bid on these vintage cloches at an auction recently
and added the old finials to make them extra special.
Until they sell, I'm enjoying the group on top of my china cabinet!

I sure have enjoyed my little etsy shop!
I'm celebrating it's two year anniversary this week!
529 sales have kept me busy and have given me a productive reason
to pick through the auction trash. haha.  Notice I said "productive",
because you know I'd be picking through it anyway!

If you're on facebook, come give my shop page a 'like'

May I ask you a question about ETSY?
I am trying to order a crochet pattern, which it says is PDF downloadable...but they want all my mailing address etc...is that the usual?
    Any feedback would be appreciated!

    1. Can't wait to see your moon! We had clouds and rain...still do! No moon watching for me! sob!
I have seen those downloads for patterns for sale but have never done one. I'm sure the address is just the normal format and isn't changed for that kind of order. If you don't want to give your address, click on 'ask a question' and talk to the shop owner. I'm sure they'll work with you.

It must be a fishy kind of night! haha.

    2. I now how to cook a snake, you coil it up and put it in a frying page with a tbs of sump oil and fry for six hours. But I haven't got a pot big enough for a pygmy. Did you know that the pygmies came all the way from Borneo just to dip their arrow points in my ex-wifes soup?

    1. There are some tall ones in my shop....I know what you mean...many are too small! Gosia has a lovely blog...I'm glad you introduced us!

    2. My cloche is fairly tall but gets narrow about midway up. Every time I think I found the perfect thing....it ends up being too wide!

      Delete
    3. Hmm...you need something really skinny!

      Delete
    4. ...or something low that doesn't go up into the narrow part...a bird's nest?

  12. I honestly didn't know what a cloche was until I started blogging! I don't see them too much anymore although I did just find one I had to have from Wisteria. I'm always at a loss as to what the put under them!

Congratulations on all of those sales! :)

    1. I have two...one is huge and has a stack of vintage books under it. The other has a large piece of coral. You can put anything under them...a birds nest, figurine, stack of tea cups...the possibilities are endless. Do you blog with Marty? She has blog cloche parties...or at least she used to. You could get hundreds of ideas from her posts.
