Strawberry Cobbler

This recipe was tucked into my wedding shower gifts 30 years ago
and it's always been a favorite of ours.  If you know me outside the
blogs and way back to Columbus, Ohio, this came from Fanny Gainer!
It's good with any berry and SO simple to make.

Since I picked strawberries from my patch over the weekend I
made it and it was so yummy, I thought I would make it to take
with me to the auction on Thursday.
I owe the guys a treat for loading Garden Girl into my Jeep!

Berry Cobbler

1/4 c butter
1 c sugar
1 1/2 t baking powder
1/2 c sugar
3/4 c milk
1 c flour
2 c berries
1/2 t cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350.
While oven is heating, melt butter in a 9x9" pan in
the oven.  In a bowl, whisk together the milk,
one cup of sugar, flour and baking powder.

Pour this batter over the melted butter. Do not stir!

Sprinkle berries over the batter.  Do not stur!

Sprinkle cinnamon over berries.  Do not stir!

Sprinkle 1/2 cup of sugar over the cinnamon.  Do not stir!

Bake 35-45 minutes until center is puffy and dry and the
edges are brown and have pulled away from the pan.
(Mine took just a little longer).
It shouldn't jiggle in the middle.

Yummy warm with ice cream.
Yummy cold for breakfast.
Just plain yummy.

  8. Oh YUMMMM..Y..... Some of my most favorite things in the world are cobblers... any kind of fruit to be exact! Around here we do several with our blueberries. In fact, I just pointed out this post to the Mrs. and requested she try your recipe. It seems very similar to one we have from years ago that we found in an old Amish cookbook. Awesome stuff right there!! I can almost SMELL your pictures, they are so crisp and clear. Hahaha

  20. I make this using peaches (just a sprinkling of sugar on top as they are already so sweet) and a dash of nutmeg added with the cinnamon. I love this recipe because I always have the ingredients on hand and it's quick and easy and delicious! Has Rocky come back? Have an awesome day :) Jan
