Random Thoughts 2

I know!  I guess I'm just chatty this week! ha.

  1. You know how you can get hooked on something to eat and it tastes really good, so it becomes a routine for a week or two?  This has become my lunch lately.  Greek yogurt (strawberries on the bottom) with fresh blueberries and honey.  Yum.
  2. Nugget chewed my flip flops.  They are still wearable to work in the yard, but would look kind of funny wearing them out in public with his nibble pattern all around the edges.  Is he part goat? ha.  So I got a new pair.   They have a 2" wedge heel instead of just being flat. Well, I wore them to the grocery today for the first time and had the hardest time walking in them! haha! Gee whiz...give me 4" heels and I'm fine all day.  But I looked drunk in those crazy things!
  3. I went to the grocery today (Kroger) and had $47 in coupons when I checked out!  I know..just call me super shopper!
  4. Do you have sensitive teeth like me?  Whoa! It's awful!  If you use Sensodyne or some other brand, after the tube is gone, the effects last about a year.  I noticed this past weekend that I couldn't eat a bowl of ice cream without being in pain.  So, I bought a new tube today.  Yep, had a $2 coupon for it, too! ha.
  5. Speaking of the boys' OCD and routines yesterday, I thought you might get a kick out of this.  Alex's routine every afternoon when he gets off the bus is as follows:  Walk in and go straight to the refrigerator to see if anything new is in there.  Look in the garage and see ...well, I don't know what he's looking for.  Dad's car maybe? Go to the bathroom.  Leave light on in the bath and shut the door almost all the way, leaving it open just a crack, (it always has to be like this when he's home) Go to the living room and turn on the TV, go to the family room and turn on the TV, (no, he doesn't stay to watch either!) Go back to his room and sign into his laptop, come out to the kitchen where I wash his hands and he gets a snack.  He tries to eat out of the container and I say, "Let's put that in an bowl"....so we do. Every. Single. Day.  lol....  Then I walk around and turn off TVs and lights! ha.  If I happened to be gone to an auction and Dad is there, the routine is the same, except it ends with him sitting in the front window seat, watching for me to get home.  Aw. :)
OK...that's probably more than enough rambling.
Maybe tomorrow I'll just post a photo to even things out!

  2. Between your blueberries and Gloria's raspberries... I am having such a berry craving!

  3. I use Sensodyne too - irregularly. It really helps. Too hot or too cold and I hit the ceiling!
Laughing about Nugget - bunny designer! Maybe the heeled flip-flops are more unstable because the material is flexible and one can kind of teeter?
So sweet about Alex... maybe he has to make sure everything is "awake" at home. Then he can relax. But he leaves an energy trail behind him, doesn't he? Awwww, so sweet that he waits on the window seat for you. Nothing substitutes for Mama.

    1. Yes...he is the one that turns on all the lights and gadgets all over the house. I walk behind him and turn them off. The TV's go on every time he walks by! Crazy!

I think you're right about the flexible material...they weren't excessively high..just wiggly..and not really comfortable at all! Alex does love me...The Mister says he's almost beside himself until I get home. Once I walk in, he doesn't need me, he is just happy to go back to his room and proceed as usual. He usually gives me a kiss or high-five and then he's fine. haha. See why I need to live forever? Oh my.

    2. Well I am crossing my fingers that you do - and then pass that secret on to the rest of us!
What happens when you have gone south with your gal pals for a wee break? Does he/do they wait and pine?

    3. I haven't taken a little vacation with anyone in a few years! I wonder how he would do! He would probably be fine...just a little anxious and cranky.

  5. Gosh has Suzie cloned herself??? lol
That bowl of blueberries, Greek Yoghurt and strawberries looks exceptionally YUM! . . .
I don't know I have just seen Gloria's raspberries which look divine too. You two are such a bad influence on me!! . . . lol
Funny about Nugget eating your flip fops . . . . and pity you did not shoot a video of you walking in the 2" heels although how on earth you girls walk in 4" heels I shall never know.
Great that one application of Sensodyne can have such lasting effects.
Found your account of No 5 very moving and I can see the funny side as well.
Glad you had a lovely day :)

    1. Well, you have to use the whole tube of the toothpaste for it to work. So, it tastes about a month...then you're good to eat ice cream, crunch ice or sip hot coffee til your heart's content. :)

Alex is a sweetheart and loves his mom. I'm the only one that can get a smile out of him, too. But do you blame him? What's not to love? lol.... But if I'm serious about it, I'm not sure what will happen when I'm gone....I get a little sick thinking about it.

And hey....yogurt and fruit is not a bad influence! It's totally healthy and just 100 calories!

      Delete
    2. No I did not mean a bad influence that way - it's just that I would get addicted to it but at 100 calories who cares!

No I can't blame Alex or anyone loving his Mum .. but hey it's much. much too early too think about being gone and even when iot happens much later you must try not to worry - a way will be found. Do the other boys love their Mum as much as Alix, or nearly so? It's amazing you are the only one who can get a smile out of him.

The toothpaste must then put a thin film onto the tooth enamel as a barrier, matbe :)

    1. I think I found a toothpaste today that will take care of all the things on my finicky checklist....sensitive, whitening, tarter control, baking soda. Yes, I have a little OCD myself. haha.

Yep, I want plain ol' flip flops! They're already on my next shopping list. I don't need the height...I just thought they were cute! Wrong! lol.

Don't tell Eddie he's lovely! He's impossible already without any encouragement!

Yes, Suza needs to visit you AND she needs to start a blog! I've been telling her for years! You tell her, too! Suzanne!!!!

    3. Hi Linda - I would love to come visit you! And yes, Betsy has mentioned once or twice (ha!) that I should start a blog. I first established my Suza profile in order to visit a few friends who had blogs but wasn't really interested in hosting myself. Over the years I have met so many people - some in real life - through their blogs and it's been great fun. As I used to write for a living for many years, it wasn't something I really wanted to do in my down time... but I am toying with it! I guess I don't want to feel pressured (by myself) to have to post all the time. And I know one certainly does not have to post every day... but not something I have quite decided on yet. But I will come and visit!! :-)

  10. You lead such an interesting life. Never a dull moment it seems. A neighbour from down the street took pity on me today and brought me some strawberries saying "I read that your crop had failed this year, so I thought you might like these". I thanked her and when she had gone the penny dropped. OMG! SHE READS MY BLOG! I'll have to watch what I write about now. I enjoyed those strawberries, and like you I had honey and yoghurt on them! Great minds think alike. C'est ça?

Those seem to be where you share the "good stuff"-- your personal situations, your thoughts, your feelings. and you let down the guard just a little. Keep 'em coming! And I'll have to give the blueberry/yogurt thing a try as soon as my berries ripen next month.

  15. Don't mind your ramblin' at all!

Do Harry and Spencer have such set routines when they come home?

I never had honey with blueberries... gotta try it as it looks very yummy.

    1. Spencer is just interested in getting to his computer. And Harry tends to follow Spencer around. :)

The honey was to sweeten up that Greek yogurt. It's pretty tart without it!

  17. It has been closing in all day on us... threatening but no rain. Hot and humid out although a wee bit cooler now. I love a/c! I never thought about putting honey on my yoghurt mixture before. I usually add maple syrup and some granola or trail mix. I mus try honey. I am thinking of going out right now and buying berries... even if I get rained on!

  20. I love the routines your boys have. Of course, it's easy for me to love them from afar. Maybe I just love the fact that you share those moments with us. I never did blog about my sister and I visiting our brother in the hospital, did I? Maybe I still can, even though it's been a whole week.

    1. Some of them I love...some not so much. lol... Their quirkiness can become endearing, if it isn't to controlling of everyone. Yes, you need to do a post...I'd love to hear about your visit...and in the hospital? Hope he's better!

  21. I have very sensitive teeth, too. I've always used Sensodyne until about a year ago, I heard about Arm and Hammer Sensitive, available at Walmart. For me, it works even better than Sens. The taste is not as good but anything to prevent the sensitivity.
So sweet about your boys. Our neighbor across the street is my age (57) and is very similar with his routines. He has named us his Aunt and Uncle and we are very flattered. He lives with his 78 year old mother.

    1. That's the kind I bought! I had been using Arm and Hammer just because I think it makes my teeth feel cleaner than any other kind. I don't mind the baking soda taste too much. Glad to hear it's so good...I see on the box Orajel is in it.

How interesting about your neighbor...this is the new home? He's taken to you quickly! So sweet!
