The store bought strawberries this year have been a disappointed.. Yours look so good. Ice cream and your strawberries sound so good right now. Packed all morning...so ready for a nap. Hope you're having a good day.
Well, that is disappointing! But surprising to me since our store bought ones have been really good! I love strawberries and ice cream. You deserve a nap! Yes, a good day here...nice and quiet after the long weekend. Had to restock the frig...lol....
Fantastic! Will they go all summer...or just once? Don't know much about these...saw a hanging basket of strawberries at Walmart...should have picked it up! Enjoy! Cheers! Linda :o)
There are two kinds...June Bearing and Ever Bearing. I only had June Bearing and added Ever Bearing last year. But I don't know which these are! haha. I'm thinking they are Ever Bearing since they are so small. I've seen those hanging baskets...they are so cute! I've never tried them, though.
Just love strawberries! Used to grow them in my garden along with something I like even more, Raspberries!! Yummy to both - with some vanilla ice cream! :)
Oh yummy! I don't have a garden this year for various reasons (just the asparagus and the raspberries :) I gonna miss fresh picked strawberries from my own garden.
Truth! We were going to build raised beds and bought the boards to make them then.Lin hurt his foot and that plan went out the door. He's getting better but has been hobbling around for a month, poor guy. U told him not to worry if the weds are in by next Spring I'm okay with that :)
I love Strawberries..but at this part of our country it does not grow..we get in from the super market..but to eat from one's own yard is a different feeling..they just look lovely..
I think they like cool, wet weather! When it gets hot, they don't do as well! At least you can buy them at the grocery. My boys eat pounds of them each week!
Look at those strawberries! YUM! I had some just last night poured over a slice of home made pound cake, covered in cool whip! I wanted seconds too, but didn't indulge any further. The berries were from the freezer though, but were frozen fresh last year after our visit to a pick-ur-own farm just down the highway. I still haven't ventured into planting my own yet, but have been thinking about it! ENJOY those you have!!
Homemade pound cake...yum! I haven't made that in about a year...one of my favorites!
I think your garden is big enough without the strawberries! Especially if you have a picking farm down the road. I did enjoy the strawberries I picked...I ate them all myself...no sharing with the men! haha.
Look so good - the smaller ones are the tastiest and sweetest I think. And, if you look at your second photo, the second last row of three berries before the single one? There is a fish eye! Ha! I know... I'm reaching... :-)
The pic with the berries in your hand; go to the bottom pale berry which is on its own closest to your wrist. Right above it are a row of three berries. The middle one is tucked under a bit. And on the left side (our left as we look at the photo) there is a tiny round circle. Which looks like a fish eye and a fish partly hiding beneath. I know. It's the humidity. I am losing it! Ha! Why the HECK can we never have spring but vault right into summer? 92F here today. Sigh. Give me snow!
You are cracking me up! This reminds me of when I was preggo with triplets and on bed rest. I swore a flower on my pillow case looked like a Indian, complete with feathered head dress. My sister thought I had gone nuts and said I didn't have any blood left in my brain...it had all gone down to my belly to grow the babies. lol!!!
If you haven't worn it in years and try it again, it will immediately transport you back in time! They don't make the big sticks of it anymore...they are little like a chap stick.
Yummy...one of my favourite fruits.. I have a few growing at the moment but its my blueberry tree & fig tree that are giving me the fruits this year..it's so nice growing your own produce. Your strawberries look beautiful :-)
I have no idea what they taste like. I've only had fig newtons. lol....something tells me that's a poor example. hahaha..... I don't even think I've seen them at the grocery before!
I know! I just put seeds in the ground for the rest of the garden yesterday...and picked strawberries! Now if the tomatoes were already ripe, that would be great! haha.
I actually picked enough today to do something with! How exciting! Glad you're all moved. You need to show your kitties in their new favorite spots! :)
Hi Betsy .. how many did you get to eat .. but they look so amazing and so tasty ... I bet the boys enjoyed them .. leaving some for Mum and Dad I hope .. Summer is here with strawberries around .. cheers Hilary
My strawberry crop has failed this year. The incessant heavy rain we have had over the last month has beaten the flowers into the ground and the insects haven't been able to pollinate them. The bed is just a mud bath now. I did find a few tiny fruits, green and about the size of a garden pea. This seems to be the general picture here, none of my neighbours have done any good with their crop either.
I hope you and the boys enjoy your strawberries, I will have to buy mine this year from the supermarket!
Weren't you coming over for hot dogs? haha...we'll just add strawberry shortcake to the menu. :) I just picked another 6 cups today. I've never picked more than a handful ever. It's taken several years for them to take off and I guess this is the year! ...and I did add another variety last year. That may be helping, too. Can't believe the raccoons and robins haven't eaten them. Maybe all these cats are earning their keep after all!
I love strawberries! These are from your yard?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!

Oh, look at that! We have flowers but no berries, at least I don't think there are any berries out there.
ReplyDeleteYou're making my mouth water.
:0)
That handful was the first harvest yesterday, but I think there's that many out there again. Just enough for snacking for now...but they are good!
DeleteFantastic!
ReplyDeleteWill they go all summer...or just once?

DeleteJust love strawberries!

I used to have raspberries, too! I should get some new plants...they are one of my favorites!
DeleteYes but actually you are sweet enough! :)
DeleteWell, looks who's being charming...
DeleteOh yummy! I don't have a garden this year for various reasons (just the asparagus and the raspberries :) I gonna miss fresh picked strawberries from my own garden.
ReplyDeleteWell, if I could only have two things, asparagus and raspberries would be good choices! Not to mention, they come up by themselves! haha.
DeleteTruth! We were going to build raised beds and bought the boards to make them then.Lin hurt his foot and that plan went out the door. He's getting better but has been hobbling around for a month, poor guy. U told him not to worry if the weds are in by next Spring I'm okay with that :)
DeletePoor Lin! Hope he's better soon. Raised beds sound fun! They will be worth the wait!
DeleteHa its a good thing you're a pro at deciphering. Looking at my comment on the computer and noticed that my phone wrote words I didn't haha
Deleteyep, I figured it all out. haha.

DeleteWow you go from winter to strawberries very quickly!!! They look very tasty, just as well that cats don't like them. xx
ReplyDeleteLast week there was a raccoon up in the tree trying to spill bird seed down on the ground. I hope he doesn't discover the strawberries!
DeleteLook at those strawberries! YUM! I had some just last night poured over a slice of home made pound cake, covered in cool whip! I wanted seconds too, but didn't indulge any further. DeleteHa! Well... I am definitely not pregnant... but maybe my blood has boiled over in the heat! :-D
DeleteIt was 84 here today...even that is too hot for me! yuck.
DeleteYUM! The only strawberries we have are the wild plants I'm trying to eradicate from the yard.
ReplyDeleteAre they those mock strawberries? We have some of those, too. It makes a lovely ground cover!
DeleteOhhhh...I can smell their fragrance! They should make a perfume that smells like warm, just picked strawberries!
ReplyDeleteI do have a lip gloss that smells like that!
DeleteOoooo - which one?
DeleteIt's Bonne Bell Lip Smacker. I've used it since high school! I wear it under lipstick, too. Strawberry or Dr. Pepper are my favorites.
DeleteOh my! I used to wear the Bonne Bell lip gloss too. I loved it. Didn't know they still made it. I will have to have a look up here.
ReplyDeleteIf you haven't worn it in years and try it again, it will immediately transport you back in time! They don't make the big sticks of it anymore...they are little like a chap stick.
DeleteGood - I have always wanted a time machine. Yes - I remember it used to be the size of a magic marker practically.
DeleteYummy...one of my favourite fruits.. I have a few growing at the moment but its my blueberry tree & fig tree that are giving me the fruits this year..it's so nice growing your own produce. Your strawberries look beautiful :-)
ReplyDeleteDo you know that I've never had a fresh fig??? I really must do something about that.
DeleteMaybe you should add fig-tasting to your spring to-do sidebar! They are so tasty. Can't imagine being able to grow them in one's own garden.
DeleteI have no idea what they taste like. I've only had fig newtons. lol....something tells me that's a poor example. hahaha.....
DeleteI don't even think I've seen them at the grocery before!
All ready to eat
ReplyDeleteThere for a treat
And geez no food faces in a long time
That is just a crime
There for a while I was seeing them all the time!
DeleteAnd with each one, had to give a little chime!
ha.
do strawberries like you
like blueberries do?
They may like me
DeleteBut I don't like them at my sea
More for me then
Deletesuch a sin. ha.
Can't believe you are able to pick strawberries already! They look really tasty!
ReplyDeleteI know! I just put seeds in the ground for the rest of the garden yesterday...and picked strawberries! Now if the tomatoes were already ripe, that would be great! haha.
DeleteOh I'll bet they're more luscious than anything you can buy.
ReplyDeleteSuper juicy and really sweet....I just wish they were lots bigger! haha.
DeleteHi Betsy, What pretty strawberries. They taste so sweet when they are fresh. Thanks for your kind comment on my post today.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely afternoon.
I actually picked enough today to do something with! How exciting! Glad you're all moved. You need to show your kitties in their new favorite spots! :)

ReplyDeletewell, I ate that whole handful...that was the first picking. No, I didn't even share! ha.
